PSN data leak cost could top $24 billion - Report

http://au.gamespot.com/news/6310436.html?tag=recent_news%3Btitle%3B4

"Even larger could be the cost from the potential information theft. In an article today, Forbes cites data-security research firm The Ponemon Institute as estimating the "cost of a data breach involving a malicious or criminal act" was, on average, $318 per compromised account. Given the most recent PSN population estimate, that formula puts the potential cost as being over $24 billion."

That's a lot of fkn money. It could also actually mean the end for Sony.

(I couldn't turn off bold font after copy-pasting)

The US is getting the FBI to look into the breach as well as many other countries starting to involve their respected law enforcement guys.

Yes another fkn gamespot link - they've got so many new articles on the subject just today.

77 million user accounts - not all have credit card numbers but even if only a quarter of those users have a credit card assigned to their account, that's still over 19 million credit card numbers.

These hackers are gonna be so dead after all of this.

Fucking hell! If Sony goes on the verge of bankrpucy over this some one should kill that dickhead hacker. I don't care what reason they had, this has gone WAY to far. I love my Playstation and I want number four to come out one day :(

I want $318 for grievance pay at having to change all my passwords and get a new card

and shit

and having to empty out my account and dumping it in my netbank saver (haha dream boats try and use my details now when there's only $0.48 in my main account)

Sony will get their money back somehow.. I would just leave it.. One way or another you will be required to pay it back.. I can see them introducing a subscription fee being introduced to play online..

True, I'll be good. I like that PSN is free... Although the latest update says that CC information was "encrypted" but doesn't say if the decryption key was left laying around:

+1

hackers need to get a girlfriend and learn that there is more to life than throwing a tantrum and hacking someone because they did something they didn't like. most of these hackers would throw the biggest tantrum if they were on the recieving end of something like this.

i don't have any of my bank account/cc details on there so that side of it doesn't affect me.

PSN was hacked not via a PS3, but a PC emulating a PS3 from what I read. PS3 hash being leaked had nothing to do with that. Sony just sucked at protocol encryption.

There's hackers who hack because they don't like the way a product functions, and there's hackers who hack to steal. Know the difference.

Besides... who uses non disposable credit card accounts with no overdraw or low limits on the internet these days? What are you 50 and technologically illiterate?

    • Yeh I think i'll message an old contact i had for ages that manages his own tyre shop now.. n tell him what i want n work with him before ordering..  Got this 17x9 +30 Driftteks on 245/45/17 PSR Drag Radials on the rear.. They fit well - for your reference in future - Rear guards  have been lipped in & minimal to non flaring of the rear Gaurds.
    • If only it were that easy! I also needed to remove seats, shocks, brake calipers, send my car through a fence, and use measuring and ended up guessing because I didn't remove seats, shocks and brake calipers. It can be hard sometimes Can be a little more complex than 'just measure' if you want to truly measure the entire wheel through all of it's suspension travel. But if you aren't going for every last mm then yeah, you can check the space you currently have and guesstimate.
    • If you own a car, and it has wheels on it, and you know the offset of those wheels, and you have a measuring device, you have everything you need to work out if other wheels will fit.
    • Will this fit? but they are staggered set - RAYS 57DR SEMI GLOSS BLACK 18x8.5 +37 | 18x9.5 +38 5-114.3 STAGGERED SET   or If no go could just get a set 4's wheels of 18x8.5 +37 5-114.3 - would i run 8.5's 235s up front n 245's at the back if I do?   Thanks.
    • Put a clamp on your return line. I have a feeling it's sucking air, and introducing bubbles to your fuel. With a lot of fuel, less problematic. I'd honestly be redoing all the lines in the tank and clamps on everything.   Also, you've given two different answers to the same question: Asked if being followed by the police you could get down to use the whole tank, you said yes you could, so long as you keep off boost. However, you then followed this up that free revving, it would also cause the issues. I'm doubting free revving is enough to make any noticeable boost on what is likely a decent sized turbo.   So now I have to ask, can you actually drive it lightly and use all the fuel, or does it break up even free revving? Also, have you put a fuel pressure gauge on it? Can you hear the pump change noise at all when you're having this issue?
