It's ok to be judged within reason..

But riced up car no thanks

If I was still in sales, I'd rather no judgement from them until I had sussed them out and then I could talk about my other car etc. if I saw that they might be into that.

But yeah riced up cars do you no favours unless you work in that industry or for Autobarn.

Saw a real estate agent rock up in a riced-up rx8 :/

Lol when we had our Track Day tech night the other month the pizza delivery dude rocks up in an RX8 with 40 pizzas... Saw it was a car type event, gave it a rev coming up the driveway... we lold in pity

guy who delivered our pizzas for the last tech night was in a very riced very thrashed RX8

He thought he was so cool hitting the limiter when leaving..

(he did deliver 30 pizzas so if it was 5$ a pizza he would have been in a good mood anyhow)

Yeah so it could be 2 could be 10 pizzas, typically you get to know the 'good tipping addresses' and race there as fast as you can so you get a good tip.

I remember this one guy, used to always pay with $50 and say 'keep the change' for like 1 pizza and a drink, baller probably in dezz's line of work

While you were all at uni for a piece of paper, I was busy making paper.

i'm guessing you were an apprentice when other at uni, and from what I knew of tried apprenticeships straight out of school sucked massively.

best mate was a motor mechanic, 5200 a year first year.

another mate was an apprentice elect , around the samepay till hit 18, improved a bit,

but at 20 finished apprenticeship moved to perth and was on 120K doing work at the mines.

FIFO plus Union, PLUS explosives danger money...

(he was doing the electrical systems for the explosives carts in the mines)

where as his wife did uni, got degree, now a lawyer earning shit loads more than him...

I finished school in 2003, didn't start my apprenticeship til 8 years later.

I'm not saying no one should go to uni or whatever, but most of the people that use the example you used above, forget to factor in the money they weren't making for the ~4 years they were at uni, so unless they're on mega bucks when they do get out, they won't be catching up/overtaking those who worked from the get go anytime soon.

Of course money isn't everything for some people, so it's not much of an argument, but for materialistic mother f**kers like me, it's pretty much everything

But most people don't do law degrees and most lawyers don't even end up making truck loads

I cracked well over 6 figures at 21 never looked back

very true but not every Tradie does as well,

all comes down to drive and how much your willing to learn.

Still got plenty of friend from high school who did their apprenticeship, stayed in the country and happy to work from some-one.

so long as they can pay off their 150K (or less) home loan and afford a woodstock or UDL on friday they happy.

for every-one doing good there some just getting by and happy with their lot.

Big difference between survivng and doing well. $200 a week, $10k a year... I spent that on the engine alone in the R33

Like I said, not everyone is all about the money, that's fine. It's only funny when people with degrees/diplomas etc look down on tradies etc

    • I certainly fall into the annoyed camp, but glad to hear that if it's happening at low boost then I'm not likely going to blow a turbo and end up with metal shards in my oil. Just feels like it prevents me from really driving it without hesitation and "peak" performance. Wonder if it's the VCAM, it did an impressive job of shifting the torque curve and faster spool, but maybe now it's "too fast" and there's too much air for how open the throttle is.  Based on some other threads, will also do some reading on synchronizing the actuators. They are the default actuators that come on the Garrett's and I would think they would be set the same coming from the factory, but if the turbos don't actually work exactly the same way at the same time as previously mentioned, it would be worth making sure the actuators are actuating together properly
    • I went down this rabbit hole before, ended up sourcing a motor from the UK (I'm in Japan) which also didn't function correctly. With the original motor, I disassembled it and reassembled it and it works somewhat, sometimes. What I could deduce from all my screwing around is that there is calibration of the gears on the inside of the motor and two ramps on the main gear which activate switches that operate the motor and move the sunroof either to retract into the roof or tilt. Where I got stuck was that, it seemed in my case that one or both of the switches that are activated by the ramp on the gear did not always activate and thus the motor did not move, causing it to sometimes not retract or tilt (apologies, I've forgotten which way it didn't work.).  Of course this part is discontinued at Nissan now, it's the same part in the S15 but no other models. I also contacted the manufacturer of the component for schematics - forgot the name, they're based in Gifu - but they declined to share the information due to being bound by an NDA, sadly. Looking through my pictures now, it seems I last had a crack at this in 2022. See, I so kindly wrote "open" and "close" next to the switches. If you figure it out, please do tell me. Those little switches, with the red buttons may need to be replaced.
    • It says 300ZX, does that make it an Aus delivered car? Funny how back in the day I just couldn't care less about Z32's and these days I am just in love with them. Back when Nissan was into pushing the envelope. 🤣
    • Hi guys, just after some guidance with an R34 sunroof that has stopped working correctly. It still opens and closes perfectly fine, but it no longer tilts/vents up or down. As a result, the rear of the glass now sags a bit as it drops down slightly in order to retract into the roof, but now it can't pop upwards into a flush position. I’ve probed the pins on the back of the switch connector with a multimeter and it seems like both switches (for open/close and tilt/vent) still work correctly. Any ideas on what it could be, or where I should even start in terms of diagnosing? I'm sure someone's had this issue before but I haven't been able to find anything online relating to this specific issue, most of the issues are with the seals leaking or the motor failing entirely. Thanks in advance!
