Mike showed me pics. You have silver ones, yeah? I like my silver ones. Look good on the car. I just don't want to destroy my centre caps, but can't find a tool for them anywhere, what with them being discontinued.

I have 2 sets, silver and black.

I also have issues finding tool for the centre caps.

So my dad, (think 70 year old)

has decided to trade in his hilux.

he has had a variaty of Lux's for past 31 years

his thoughts on a new cheap run around to get him to golf..

a bloody Maloo

how do I politely explain he will look like a tosser in it!

shit I'm too old to drive one let alone him.

speaking to a friend who works at a volkswagon dealership... apparently customer came in for routine service on new gen Golf. "do you know why my golf keeps going through so much oil?" friend spoke to some people and found out the new golfs are designed to use up oil. around 2L per 5,000-10,000kms or something

not sure if trying to keep regular servicing or trying to meet emissions standards/efficiency.

and heard about audi servicing too... blimey. Audi 15,000kms service: $1200. Q7 brake pad replacement: just under $1000 a corner because need to replace rotors as well.

A maloo is only driven by 18/19yo tradies who are trying to use it to chase minge.

Tell him to buy a golf to get to golf.

so they have a tiguan for mum to drive.

in first 12 months spent 33 weeks in the shop.

they replaced gear box twice, seals in something else, to find it was the rear main seal in motor.

note it was not a VW owned center but a re seller, and if you know where I grew up you will have an idea on where the dealer is...

scary thing is he drives soooo slow, as checking out what other farmers are up to, so when he hits the 8-km zone at the edge of town he has to speed up!

thats because Euro cars are usually owned by people that think spending money on cars for no real reason is cool...They like to brag to their friends about how much they spend...As if spending pointless cash is a sign of prosperity...

but hey, whatever helps the economy churn over...

Let him have his fun and sell it to me for cheap when he's done with it.

    • @Murray_Calavera iam just considering options 🙂 of course it is very expensive so that why i ask here 🙂  @joshuaho96 I looked at that GCG hybrid(i remember looking at it few weeks before) So this is "that" hybrid where i send them my turbo and they upgrade the inside to Garrett stuff and then they send it back. It cost around 1200-1300 USD which is FAR cheaper than the HKS and it is what iam looking for(i just do not have experience like this...to send something off to "upgrade" ) @tylink720 that is like 150 USD turbo no? 😄 I dont think i have the "ease on my mind" with this kind of turbo. I just put over 7000k USD to "LINK" up my engine...dont want to blow it up with cheap turbo 😄     EDIT: https://www.cj-motor.com/gcg-turbo-charger-for-nissan-rb20det-rb25det-high?srsltid=AfmBOooVeOZ6CZ6r1AIv5m-KPaa6BvudIPJTY8LW78khkd-gQlsaCht9 I looked at this and it seems ok? It is that CGC hybrid and it costs around 1250 USD (with back shipping). Do any of you have experience with this hybrid on NEO turbo? I quickly look thru the forum/web and it seems very good.

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
