At the end of the day public and private school teachers are both educated the same, yet they don't teach the same. An ineffective teacher working in a high socio economic area is just as detrimental to a child's education... I'd much prefer my child to be taught by the excellent teacher in a lower socio economic area

Yes but in my limited experience private & catholic teachers are better remunerated ?

Agree however a public school in toorak would no doubt offer equal/greater circle of influence however you would need to own a house in the zone.

Easier to pay the private school fees than a house in toorak etc

spot on

That's one of the reasons why the Glen Waverley house price is ridiculous. One of the better public schools which sort of restricts intake to only Glen Waverley resident intakes

20-30kms from the city and house prices probably average well over $1M

If I ever need to choose a school for a child I'll be weighing my decision heavily on most likely circle of influence my experience was public school had a lot of plebs.. Catholic school more ambitious and successful comparing 10 years later.

People won't agree but I want my kid hanging around kids with ambition desire to succeed from solid backgrounds etc

Before anyone starts im aware that there is no guarantee but you can increase the probability

My logic says hard working parents with successful businesses, but higher probability of spoiled kids who've been handed life on a silver platter = little ambition to succeed.

I went to a private school that was about 12k a year by the end of it. There was the same mix you could find at any school, we had hard workers, geeks, jockish people, lazy people, wealthy families with spoilt kids who never had to pay for anything themselves; comparatively poor people whose parents wanted a chance at a better education for them. I reckon you could find all that anywhere, but obviously a fair few more of the rich families. We had fk all hot girls, which sucked. We were really starved for decent looking girls or even girls with persobality, and the one or two that we had were into dating 25 year olds with cars. Speaking of, mate got a brand new 318i as a year 12 graduation present.

I don't think public schools are what they were decades ago and neither are private schools. The gap is much narrower with access to technologies and resources, and unless you're sending them to a private school with a student culture that thrives on achieving high results, neither type of school will guarantee a better future for your kid. Plenty fell into the bad crowd at my school and there are plenty of bad crowds at public too.

I'll be sending my kids to public, and using the money I save to pay them to do chores before they can legally work...give them that sense of earning and success from hard work that seems to be missing a lot these days. I'll also be making sure they study hard because I believe the parenting is more important than the school they go to.

Our kids will be going to whichever school I'm working at.

Don't do that, kids of teachers at the school get left out; don't you remember the playground code

no they don;t...

they get away with just about anything including sneaking into the year 12 coordinators back yard to drink his home brew at lunch time..

it's just when you cross "that" line and get caught it follows you home, so you get smart about things.

Where'd coilovers come from Migule?

Most guys I know from school were basically only baptised to get into Catholic schools. Which is pretty sad when you think about it. It's not that I don't like public schools.... Just certain public schools in my area had a more notable amount of drop kicks and nutcases. Their numbers dropped significantly by yr11.

I would prefer my kids to go to a co-ed school. Sausage fest was just annoying. My life has had too many dudes in it. And I'm not even FIFO much.

Will worry about it when the time comes. But if little Jimmy was in the way of me getting a new boat, he better work on dem scholarships

Yeah don't disagree entirely birds and its a personal choice my personal experience is what will lead me toward catholic / private education I do think the good public schools which are limited are being confused with all public schools

Heck two public schools here have a no homework policy wtf is that!?

    • Possibly avoid using a Cometic one unless the deck/head surface are perfectly flat. I did have a look just then and forgiving gaskets such as Tomei or Nitto don't exist for the FJ20, however the Bar-Tek or Kameari ones look good and might do the trick.
    • Because pipe threads for pipe things. M threads for bolt things. Throw some teflon sealant onto it and dust your hands off knowing you did the right thing, instead of going twice around the block to achieve a result using the wrong things. Of course, all of these solutions are ignoring the fact that the minimum thread pitch we're talking about here is 1.25mm, with the 1/4" in NPT or BPS being out around 1.4mm. You will need to know that the boss you're tapping has enough thickness for at least a few threads. That's one of the reasons that 1/8" is commonly used - because the pitch is <1mm. And why would you look to use 1/4" NPT in a BSP country anyway? Ugh.
    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)
