You need to differentiate between weight distribution and centre of gravity. The heavy wing helps with weight ditribution but not with the c of g.

Anyway out of interest are N1 rear windows available at all?

Yes, N1 windows are available.

Do you want one? or are you just referring to another method of removing the rear wiper?

Because the costs of the N1 rear window by far exceeds the costs just getting a rubber grommet (although N1 rear windows do look nicer :P )

Nah I was just curious. Obviously a rubber grommet is cheaper than a window, not to mention the drug money Nissan want for the rubber sealing strip that goes around it. Probably why I have seen a few GTR's that have suffered from a broken rear window where the owner has full glass coverage on their insurance. Coincidentally. Allegedly. Apparently. From what I heard. On the internet. From overseas. Hmmm.

What I would like is a new windscreen with an antenna in it, rather than the local ones which I understand dont have them.

Activities from the weekend, got the front subframe stripped down ready to start paint prep

Plan is to get everything cleaned down, painted, replace hub seals (bearings feel good), some new ball joints to replace

Also have to get the rotor dust shields off, can anyone offer any advice on doing this easily/best way?

This is like watching a show of overhaulin, except instead of some random muscle car it's a GTR!!

How the hell did you learn to pull a skyline down into this many components and put it all back together? Did you work at the Nissan factory or something?

I cut my dust shields off yesterday with a 4" grinder and just left little tabs on there.

Cheers mate, appreciate the input

Haha cheers Nick, plenty more to come mate, still going with the shit stuff!

Just learning as I go hey, all about having the right people around you, right tools, a big shed and an old man who is always there to help

Yet to see how it goes putting it back together....that's the hard bit (but the best)

Yep definitely cutting wheel / grinder as Michael said

Thanks for confirming Paul

Took some photos of the bay when the light was a lot better, pretty happy with how it came up

Looked a bit worst for wear that one!

Might be worth cleaning up and putting aside in case you ever change your mind.

What do you have in mind to plug the small squirter hole ?

(an automotive plug from supercheap with silastic might do a good job)

Edit: JJR have the rear C panels for $160?

Rear wiper removal fun...

Awesome Robbie.

Looks like that nut was really FUBAR. I wonder if mine is going to be like that, if it is at least I will know what to do then

Kind of perfect timing as I received this in mail.

Will fit perfectly for the rear wiper hole (being 30mm).

For the nozzle hole I have found this of which I have just purchased from

We are all sorted

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
    • I feel there must have been a FB/insta post and the weekend did not start well at all I hope everyone is all okay
