It is clearly a nice example however I'm surprised how much the centre console gauge needles are faded. Unless the car lived a lot of its life outdoors hence Sun fade.

I know it's a small detail but it is a tell tale sign of how the car lived it's life, call me crazy but these are things I look at, amongst other wear items like foot pedals etc

I have a new addition to the register. It's a 1994 Vspec 2, auction grade 4, imported through Ben of J-Spec Imports.

  • Model of car - V-Spec II
  • Build date - need help with that :)
  • 'Chassis No' code - BNR32 - 313373
  • 'Model' code - KBNR32RBFS8 AA
  • Photo of the blue chassis plate (Will have it uploaded soon)
  • Where the car is located - Sydney!

Car is scheduled to arrive Australia in November, so hopefully it'd be on the road soon after that. Can't wait!

Thanks. AFAIK it's a pretty standard vspec 2 but I do hope to be surprised and find a Nismo built N1 engine under there. :)

Yes definitely Bob. I'm actually going to pick up a N1 bumper from Terry this weekend. Would be nice to meet a few more Vspec owners eventually.

I've been thinking about putting into storage the original wheels, radio and even steering wheel as soon as car lands. :)

Cheers from one OCT 94 to another.

I took the steering wheel off (replaced by a demountable Momo with a quick release and lock cover - strictly speaking not legal but excellent theft protection) I am also in the process of organising a replacement gear knob and handbrake cover and longer term looking at a replacement drivers seat and/or seat cover.

This will allow me to put most of the original 'wearable' items into storage and will give me the ability to return my car to 'fully stock' if I ever sell (have even kept the little brass boost restrictor which was removed ;-)

I am keeping the wheels on as I like them and have no intention of changing them for other rims but am even considering getting a spare rim as 'insurance' for a nasty scrape or similar......

Anyhow - have fun with it - the waiting is the hardest part ;-)

I found excellent+ stock mats (really, really hard to find) and put them in storage... and installed black Nismo ones.

Other than that I'm slowly procuring new mouldings and rubbers for the exterior and I'll have a respray done at some stage - two dogs tried to get in the driver's side window once and scratched crap out of the door and adjoining panels, then I had two 'bumper corner scrapes' in carparks :wacko:

Something interesting that I was discussing with someone yesterday - mine had about 65,000km on it two years ago but hadn't been driven much. It had had all of it's scheduled services, but only very occasionally driven. Now it has 95,000km on the clock and with thorough and diligent maintenance along the way it is driving better now (engine and drivetrain) than it did when I bought it. It actually keeps getting better. Love it.

I don't mind putting km's on - after waiting for 20 years I have no intention of ever selling my 'hero car' and I thoroughly enjoy driving it. It's certainly the coolest car on the school run most days.

Thanks for the ideas Baron. Will have a closer look at the wearable items when the car is here. I hope the original seats under the leather covers are in top condition, in which case, they would go to storage as well. Maybe replace with R34GTR seats or some JDM items?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same.
