My first shot for this year. It's amazing how a couple of stacked extension tubes can affect a Macro shot. This is using my Canon 60D, a Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens, and three Kenko tubes stacked together (12mm, 20mm and 36mm). This is shot at f/7.1 and there is still some DoF fall-off towards the edges of the shot.

Happy New years guys!

Great way to start a thread with two awesome photos :)

This was from an engagement session yesterday. I've uploaded a few more to my site @ http://richardgrainger.com.au/story/brisbane-couple--nathan-and-chantelle/40?rf=saucn

Love that shot Nickson!

Thanks mate!

Thanks Richie, your shot is awesome too. Love how a natural canopy of trees can frame something so well.

BTW, the clockspring on that stopwatch in my shot is only about 6mm across at the widest part. I'll take another photo in the next few days to compare it to a 10c coin or something to give it a sense of scale.

I have to admit, I understood it was a macro photo, but I had no idea 6mm. That is absolutely insane, I imagined 10-15cm to be honest. Do you have to manual focus (I'm imaging almost a guess and check) on a tripod to do that?

Thought I would post a recent shot I took of Gibraltar Falls in the ACT. I applied an oil painting effect in Photoshop and was pleased with the result as it really shows the different textures and colors in the shot. Hope you like it.

Not really up to Par, but I dont mind it anyway :P

Canon 550D 50mm f/1.8

It's a bit scrappy, and I know the faults it has, but it was a quick shot to celebrate being 1 step closer to having an engine built :)

Going to try a Pano shot in the next week or so when I find time to go take some shots at a nice place I found

Not much wrong with that shot anyway, fair enough it's not brochure material but I can one piston is sharp as. I can read the text and i can see more stuff in the back. it's good i reckon.

Back at work so it's time to start sharing again :) May as well start with some car stuff. Even if it's not a fast car :P

Just wish it was straighter, other then that its pretty cool :)

What was that Hyundai thing like? I saw someone else went on that, cant remember the details but I think it was a prize of some sort?

Some nice photos anyway, can't say I'm really a fan of the car but still good

Its getting closer and closer to March, I'm pretty keen to get some F1 shots in Melbourne, can't wait for that

Really be jumping in the deep end as I've never taken any fast moving shots like that but its the best way to learn I guess.

pretty shitty pano really, handheld and didnt have the patience to wait till the waves were in the same spots due to bare feet on burning hot sand, haha.

camera is now back with its new owner. was a great weekend, back to boring dole life, lol.

its a good angle Jay, but i expect nothing less than that from you.

Probably some of the last shots I'll post from the old D90. Shot at the end of a long track day. not taken in jan but only getting around to working on some older stuff now.

Hey folks, here are a few from my holiday in Vietnam & Thailand. I'll post up some more later but don't want to whore up the place like I do some times :D

I know this next shot isn't up to par but the coach bus was traveling along at about 80kph as I was trying to get the shot on horrible bumpy roads through Vietnam. This is Hue (same location was used in the Top Gear Vietnam Special).

Nice work Pezzy! They're all pretty good :) 3 and 4 are my favs:) Keep sharing across the weeks. dribble it out, maybe work on one or two shots at a time, post for feedback, then rinse repeat?

    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum. The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again. Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build RB25det neo stock eng / turbo aem ems 2 blue connector aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu 355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner please if you have any information, am very grateful
