Do you plan on keeping the car after you have your full licence? If not maybe it is better to wait. Then you can get a turbo car and the world is your oyster. Turbocharged power is as good as sex. The advantage of turbocharging is that the pleasure comes whenever you put your foot down. The result of putting your foot down with a woman is a kick in the ballsack.

Definetly want something reliable, therfore newer. Need a non turbo as im still a bit under 2 yrs off fulls and my bro will take this car when i move onto a turbo skyline.

Basically something light and fun. Prefer coupe as well

MX5 is perfect besides the 2 seater hassle.

Is the Beemer myth real or not? As too the expansive parts and such?

n/a supra, vtec/engine swapped civics, teggy vti-r, prelude vti-r, 3s-ge sw20 mr2, aw11 mr2 if you can find one, manual mivec fto, silver/blacktop 4a-ge levin/trueno.

That'd be my shortlist.

Or you've got the classic trashed q's silvia etc

My 2c, buy a te/tf crossflow 6 powered cortina backed by the single rail borgwarner 4 speed box.... Extractors exhaust inlet manifold Holley decent tires will see a 14 second 1/4 enough to walk alot of stockish turbo imports and older v8s.

Bigger cam solid lifters valve springs port work better clutch minispool 90/10 shocks and say hello to a low 13 second (possible 12 second) p plate "legal" street car.

(There is a guy running in the 11s on an NA [no nitrous, turbo/supercharger] cross flow powered td cortina in qld... http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=ACor769AAoA&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DACor769AAoA&gl=GB)

Sky's the limit with them bro, just watch for chassis rail rust and bad shells

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
