My new engine build is finished and I'm currently 300ish kilometres through a 1000klm run in period - engine builder/tuner mandated run in period. I'm currently stuck with 4,000rpm and approx' 2psi boost limiters. Early seat-of-the-pants impression is very promising, with the boost limiter interrupting proceedings in a flash! During the run-in tune he gave it a very brief squirt up to 7psi, it took less than 2000rpm.

The engine bay is filthy dirty at the moment (by my standards) I'll eventually get around to detailing the car once the remaining new parts (billet TB, K-Sport BBK, Nismo diff' and IQ3) are fitted.

Dodgy designed turbo leaks oil like a tanker.

They won't warrant it as they dont make them anymore and they flat out blame the oil leaks on crank case pressure not their product.

Its a well known thing about them in the evo world.

I know of 4 other people with this issue with as little as 1500km on their turbos. Took my stock turbo to be modified at GT PUMPS & he currently has 4 of them that are leaking oil the only fix is to convert them to Journal bearing.

I spent $2700 on a turbo that done 3000km and isnt worth its weight in scrap :(

VERY disappointed as it took them months to build it and its f**ked in less time than it took to be built :(

Thats no good Mick, sorry to hear that, i hope my core doesn't do that as its a 10mm bb cartridge they make. Im having trouble getting the comp cover off mine. Anyone have any ideas as i thought once you unbolt the rear they should spin fairly easily. the fabricator is being a pain in the ass and wants nothing to do with it which makes me think he's done something to it when he welded the 90* bend on it

FFS buy my HKS powered yellow Stagea and light match in the Emo.

You know it makes sense having room for a pram and roof racks and a tow bar.

Super cheap discount for you too Mick!!

G'day Andrew. Thanks mate. Yeah I'm super keen to see what it can do once the shackles come off!

I went with the FP .85 V-band

Heres what FP wanted to charge me for ONE o ring. Would be over $100au once converted US with paypal. I said thats ridiculous and asked for the size so i could get one locally but she said she doesnt have the size.

Typical US freight prices. You could try ordering it through one of many FP retailers and see if their freight charges are better, or use a freight forwarding company.

those padded envelopes have really gone up in price..

just take your existing one to a turbo shop and have them piece it together for you.

seems the customer service of these guys have really plummeted

Its all good went to a bearing joint and got one for $2. Big difference in price. If anyone on the gold coast reads this stay away from all performance garage. He's the reason for my dramas.

Cool! Once you've fitted the FP .85 our turbo spec's will match. The slightly larger housing should result in a small increase in top end.

Your RB30 combo has the 26 head doesn't it?

Let me know how you go once the new housing is up and running.

    • Nope.    Grab a varex and turn it down as you get close to home, win win?
    • So, I've had my V36 for about a month now and have already copped an "excessive exhaust noise" notification from QLD TMR, reported by someone in my local area. It's a twin as per the original, and can have a bit of a throaty note to it when idling cold 😄 and if I do get up it a bit, it can be noisy, but it did pass a roadworthy inspection before sale, so.... ... but in the interest of being a good neighbour, I do want to quieten it down a bit. Is anyone here running a quiet aftermarket cat-back on their V36 or 370Z? And the big, bold question: does an aftermarket cat-back really make much of a performance difference on these cars?
    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
