Its too effn loud that it gave me a headache coming back from the exhaust shop. A xforce cannon with a 3 inch internal diameter. He said it would be louder than my previous jansai one but i didnt think it was gonna be this loud! The r32 even has a cat convertor and another resonator before the cannon and its doing my head in! what a waste of money!! do not buy these cannons for your own sake and everybody elses

Agreed, the bigger the muffler body, the better the sound absorption. Should have gone for an oval Xforce or Varex at a minimum. Resonators do fark all from my experience, mid mufflers are required, and the 4 inch thick Magnaflow offset muffler fits in there nicely with plenty of clearance.

The Japs are pretty good with their exhaust design, and if you find the right system such as the Fujitsubo Jasma exhaust, it will flow well and possibly pass a noise test. You need to watch for restriction pipes in the rear muffler on some systems as it's cheaper than simply designing a good muffler.

I've heard of many an X-Force muffler developing irritating frequencies that become unbearable > even headaches.

I once put an oval one with twin tips on my BMW 328ci - bad move! The drone was worst at Motorway speed - 110km/hr

You actually think there is any difference between an Xforce and Magnaflow muffler (or most other brands) internally Terry? No point blaming the brand imo, just the design and size.

An offset muffler is going to do a better job of dropping decibels than a straight through.

I like my twin tips, nice and quiet putting around town but when you open her up on the freeway a lovely angry roar. :-)

You too Huh? I took my Blitz Nur canon off and put a 3" Magnaflow Straight thru muffler with a twin tip on.

Love it. (too old for Canons)

Droneless but nasty at WOT. :woot:

you think skyline cannons are noisy and drony?

i just bought a forrester turbo (cheap) and its got a cannon on it, sounds like a wet fart through a megaphone in an amphitheater. its a horrible noise.

needless to say as soon as the budget allows it'll be getting a far quieter system

It certainly is olly, had a custom exhaust and the three inch tips made ten years ago, sounds fantastic and looks factory. :-)

Also, if your car is a natro then yes it will be loud with a 3" cannon. In fact it will be loud with any 3" muffler. Go back to a smaller muffler (or complete system if you went 3" all the way) and it will be much quieter

Jap exhausts dangle too low its another reason for locally made, I have no probs with scraping over bumps and besides skylines come with twin tips from the factory, good enough for me to steer cleer of Milo tins. Never had a defect in my twelve years of skyline love. :-) :-) :-)

Pfft well woopty do its not all about brands but what it looks and sounds like, plus I happen to know a major police factor is a Milo can tip, have been told so by hwp at many rbt stations,I drive thirty thousand plus a year for work from qld to Tassie no defects, keep it sneaky is my motto. :-)

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
