Payed 174.9 today for f**king corn juice at United. What the actual f**k? It's a semi renewable

They get $4 a litre (average) for it when they turn it into coke.

If you could stop everyone from trying to get diabetes by not eating and drinking sugar based products like softdrinks and all the added sugar in processed food there may be financial reasons for the big companies to push ethanol, but, we are all fat sugar crazed monsters.

Sugar is the devil......yada yada yada....conspiracy this, multinational that....

With these crazy prices, it makes me wonder if I should be re-thinking getting my nistune upgraded for e-flex :(

Really? Cars literally burn money. You don’t own and modify a skyline as a sensible thing to do.

you either want the car to go faster or not. They aren’t crazy prices at all considering what it offers ( more power for more money)

You're 100% right. And I want the car to go faster.

I have the hardware to do it, although I've never upgraded the firmware on any Nistune lol.

The part I’ve never understood is adding 10% ethanol makes fuel cheaper but adding 85% makes it more expensive

I believe it has to do with government subsidies IRT "renewables", most cars ran/run fine on a 10% blend, this gives the illusion that we are pushing alternate fuel sources, without really going all in.

I believe E85 in the US was readily available due to big subsidies and a big environmental push, recently though ethanol production looks like it has taken a massive hit and production is slowing.

The focus on electric vehicles has taken precedence over liquid renewables.

Another issue with ethanol is it uses land that could be used for food crops.

E85 is dirt cheap in the US right now, even cheaper than E10. In the corn producing states we're talking about 0.80 USD/gal because there is a massive oversupply. It's curious to me what's stopping the import of US ethanol to reduce cost. Is there some massive import duty to protect local industry?

It would be that the Australian demand for e85 is tiny, and not worth the trouble of importing.

coming from the UK it makes me laugh hearing all you lot complain about fuel prices.

Count yourselves lucky that you get E85, also count yourselves lucky that your fuel is actually very cheap! it costs twice as much in the UK and you dont get the option for E85 at all!

Yes but to be fair the furthest you can drive in the UK is what, ten miles?  Because the whole of the UK is smaller than Tasmania.  So there's that.

haha England is definitely bigger than Tasmania mate. however my point still stands, your fuel is cheap! and so is rego (thats coming from someone in NSW too!!)

Yeah it all boils down to government revenue and a trade off between rego/fuel price/road tolls.  So here in WA we get bent over for rego ($800PA for an old Skyline and bugger all historic licensing), fuel is ok in the city and there arent any toll roads. Main problem being there are few outlets for E85 in Perth and sod all outside the metro areas.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say, i'm not that concerned by E85 prices. I didn't buy the car to be economical, nor to try to go for hyper mile efforts.  It's a ridiculous car and if it means paying more for petrol for another 100kw so be it.

If I was allowed out of my house, i'd be burning through enough E85 to solve the overproduction issue on my own. (obviously an exaggeration).

I may have burned about a half tank in 30kms the other day... foot to floor. Hit speed limit (ish) foot on the brake, repeat. Good times.

    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
    • Final update!!! Got the front bar fitted and sprayed and all sorted now. My cutouts worked great and the indicators aren’t just falling off. 😂
    • Is this a brand new LSD? if so, have you followed any break/bed in procedure for it? Usually involves heaps of figure 8 patterns, a fluid flush.
