And if you lose?

His arse....

Still, from a outsider looking in, he talks the talk, but I haven't seen any slips or natsoft times.

Not saying his builds aren't impressive, it's just they have massive holes that let the rest down.

It's weird, his S15 is the most under engineered over engineered build I've seen for years.

Meh, let me know when you hit the strip, I'll bet a bag of donuts my old $10k VX SS commodore smokes Bokemons S15.

And it will do it all night long.

Now, where do I put this dirty spoon....?

This will cheer you boys up, Tiguan under 2 years old with less than 29k kms on it has a cracked thermostat housing.

It's going back next week for a new thermostat housing LOL.

GTR is full house. S15 will be full house with a bottom end, gearbox and brakes, not too far off, the rest of the car has had every part replaced LOL. When those big three items are working fine I'd rather get use out of them until they break.

  • 2 weeks later...

I entered the Easter roll racing event and after it being cancelled again and again due to some flu going around the event was finally run on Friday night.

I have managed to fix the traction issues and the car ran pretty much straight all night, I started on the lower boost setting and got a feel for it, then went up to the medium one and got a feel of that. Then I turned it up to the high setting and got a slight wiggle in the steering wheel but nothing to worry about but then it happened....... It lifted the head :(

if I’m honest I can’t say it wasn’t expected, it’s the original head gasket that had some head studs put in without removing the head. So now i need to decide where to go from here

here’s a video of the run where the head lifted, yes I got destroyed by that lambo

Inserts "Get a Samsonas" joke?

Damn man, so it was running after market headstuds and still lifted the head? Probably head gasket was breached in the past.

Just send it, build it and put a Samsonas behind it.

Great build mate, it’s come a long way, I think you are just around the corner from me, I live in Harrington park, we should organise a drive one day, if both cars are ever running at the same time ??

Also, I’d love to pick your brain on a few things, seems our builds are similar. Mine lifted the head a while ago, got it sorted now but the build has kind of run away from me and is doing what it likes, I just pay the bills ?

Thanks mate, looks like we are around the corner because I’m in Currans hill. Would love to go for a drive some time!

I don’t think my build will ever be to the level of yours but anything I can help with I’m happy to help

I definitely don’t want to end up as far down the hole as you but I’d like to fix some weak points

Crank collar, Nitto oil pump, restrictors, sump vent, bearings, new seals all round, and Samsonas ?

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
