If we are talking about useable power for the street then no one should go over 300kw like anfanee said.

And let's be honest pete, your original setup was a donk from the dinosaur ages and you will forever be scorned with "ultimate lag".

ibomu hits full boost at 7,000rpm... Is it ideal for the street?

He drives it on the street?

And it's one of the most powerfulest gtr in the country.

Each to there own how they want there car setup.

I have said that a 100 times, it is your car, mod it and drive it the way it makes you happy, the end!

I have copped a lot of crap because I wanted response, I never put shit on blokes that want what they want. But for me getting full boost at 7000rpm for a street car, is nuts , it is a waste of power. If I could have gotten what I wanted at 300kw, that would have been enough. As a new bloke to all of this, I am sure I did it the wrong way, but ?

My built 26 would rev 10,000rpm +, you could not rev to 7500rpm in 2nd without speeding on the freeway, that was only 1000rpm after the boost kicked in, oh and that is after struggling up to 5500rpm to get it to start to move unless you drop it at 7000rpm +, then your head would fall off, so, was this a street car, not for me and I am the only one that counts. My Tiida would blow the bloody thing off the road from an idle start and a lot easier to drive

I can have fun throughout the rev range and unless I am playing I do not usually go over 4000rpm, the acceleration is linear and no surprises, comes on smooth and as hard as your right foot dictates .

I reiterate my previous statement.

That car is not good to drive on the street, at all, he is making power "Just because"

Before you even know it you are doing well over double the speed limit. It's completely useless.

300-350kw is the sweet spot of power you can actually use. anything else is really overkill for a dedicated street car.

If the power is usable , 300kw is more than enough

My original setup was 338kw and shit for a DD, my mistake :( so I changed it, here is the 26 Dyno with the different turbo and cams , it was OK but for me still a crappy street car. But more than enough power for the street, probably different turbo and cams would have fixed it for what I wanted, but ?

Now I have some torque to get it rolling and the power can be used much better than something that kicks in at 7000rpm, I have changed gear before then and have fun on the speed limit, advisory speed signs are good for direction

I get that, AND wheel spin from 3500 rpm in a GTR. I'm with you Pete, lag is for those that watch too many internet videos and don't actually drive their car in the real world all that much.

I recall driving my old near stock R33 GTR. From the lights a few years back, and shifting below 3500 rpm I was dragged off by a bloody prius taxi! That same car made 270kw on stock turbo's with all the bolt-ons, and was by all accounts what many of you call "responsive".

I agree, 300 kw atw is nice, but at 4000 RPM thanks.

Now your talking, 4000rpm for 300KW rules for the road. I think I will try for 400KW @ 4000rpm as it is an easier number to remember, response, response , response

Guess we should all bolt -10's on, no need to be fast in city traffic so we can go for full track setup then

Depends if you want to be a hero at every set of lights, fark you better beat those corollas.

As I said, I have never had problem keeping up with traffic with 0 manifold pressure, and at atm I am running mine in with a weak tune and 5k limited, again with no issues. But then again I don't like being a street hero when I am taking the kids to school or going to work.

Yeah go get them Pete. Give those Prius's and Tiida's heaps..

Last time I checked in peak hour maximum speed is 60 km/hr if your lucky. Must be so good to be on boost.

haha, I do not live in the City, 2 minutes down the road it is 80 another 2 minutes it is 100 and 50 klm of country road that has all of the features that make driving fun and I do it up to 7 days a week

I leave the City driving to you poor bastards

Oh and at the end of my road there is one of the best hill climb roads in NSW , Wooton Way. Mmmmm it is like driving heaven

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
