Finally got my short motor back today, hoping things will progress now.
bottom end is complete with calico coated bearings, new custom pistons and rings, Nitto crank, Nitto sine drive oil pump, Argo I beam rods.
this is what 10.25-1 comp pistons look like in an Rb26

Finally, some movement

Car is at the painters, doing more work on the under carriage, hopefully will be back on its wheels in the next couple of weeks

Well, sub frames are going in, everything is looking mint. 4wd pump was cleaned, every bracket/bolt/nut was either replaced or coated. And have gone with the FPG braided high pressure 4wd line

Looks absolutely amazing!  Love seeing GT-R's go from old to new again!  They'll take 25 years longer to look old the second time around as we're all too scared to drive them much if at all!

Look forward to seeing the completely finished car!

Once it’s done you won’t want to drive it because it’ll be to clean

Goal is GTR festival 24, want to enter the elite show and shine and dyno comp (if they run it again.
rear end is finally complete, tank was restored and straps were cerakoted.
All new lines on top of the tank fitted, new filler hose etc. Rear coil overs installed, ordered new clips for the rear brake crossover line and attessa lines.

Slowly coming along, car is home so working on the interior. Most of it is out, Bought a set of seats and dropped off all the dash parts and door cards to the trimmer.
and some new electronics.
OCD is sending me broke, getting things coated that really don’t need to be, if someone ever pulls this car apart again they won’t won’t what the hell happened to it! IMG_0251.thumb.jpeg.5a92750e02ef59fbe22b77b26dd5fbdc.jpeg

What is the coating process for the plastics?  Paint or something else?  Either way they look new again!

Cerakote is the coating, plastics are vapour blasted, dried then the coating applied, I think it’s basically sprayed on, (I’m not 100% sure on this) the coating thickness is 30 microns. There are two types of coating, one must be backed and the other is air cure, which is what they use on plastics and anything else that can’t go in the oven.

Aw sweet, I didn't realise there was an air dry option Cerakote for plastics.  I'm keen to have a crack at doing some Cerakote at home.  From what I understand it's pretty much the same as powdercoating process except it's a liquid, not a powder.

When should I start sending my GT-R parts to Shepparton for Cerakoting?

Spent the day at n the car, dismantling the interior, removed the steering rack and replaced the rubber boot, at first I thought I got the wrong part as the one on the car was solid, but then crumbled when I removed it. Was a mission to change, got my dash pad out as well as the heater core, I got a new core and boost doc fittings to replace the factory plastic ones.
the dash bar looks clean but as I have an illness I’ll be taking it to be blasted and clear coated before refitting it. Will take the opportunity to try to clean up the wiring and make sure everything is hidden.

    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn
    • Sounds good, we will aim to be there! @The Bogan I'll give you a shout if you are heading up to campbelltown for the meet too.
    • Before I get to the test day, just to finish off the android head unit. This is a demo from car start up....the standard/host system takes a few seconds to boot (same as all v37) but Android comes up quickly. In this vid I'm using the delivered launcher but have set the default to Agami since which is easier to navigate when if use primarily 5 apps. You can see the host system still takes over when required eg putting it in reverse, and you can switch between Android and not by holding the back button 3 sec. It is pretty responsive (fast) but you can see I had to press harder than expected a couple of times.  I still have the phone connected to the stock system, and that also seamlessly takes over Android music playing. v37-android-demo.mp4 The bigger reason that I put this in though is so that I can use Ecutek directly on the head unit. That gives me a dash with logging (up to 20MB only), high and low value warnings on any parameter etc etc. I've run a USB cable from the Ecutek OBD dongle to a USB input on the unit, easy. v37-ecutek-demo.mp4   The unit did freeze on the launcher the other day, I think Agami was trying to verify the license when it didn't have a data connection...will monitor and report back if there are any other problems but so far I'm very happy with the upgrade.
    • Nah that is just crappy GPS mapping, I did have a small excursion (cold tyres, damp track, surprise!), will post up that when I get a chance.
