So - pre trackday update! This car started life as a SR20 Auto, so it had a 3.9 ratio diff in it, while all other SR s13s came with a 4.11. Was originally a Open diff, and the previous owner put the Kaaz LSD in it. I was finding that the combination of 3.9 and the largish turbo was hampering me in a few areas of every track that I use. There were sections where it just felt so slow as you waited for it to come onto boost again. I noticed that I was just about one gear lower than all the skylines buddies that I track with. So I made up my mind, and decided to go to a 4.11. That's where the fun began. So I got a R33 VLSD-A off Pezhead, that uses 4.11 and is a poo diff, so it was going to donate its crown and pinion. I dropped everything off at Award Gearbox and Diff, where Terry, Trish, and Mick were going to look after me. I soon got the call that the 3.9 Diff wasn't coming apart, even after a 20 ton, and then a 40 ton press. Something in the passenger side Stub was bunged up real good! So what they had to do to get it all apart was very time consuming, and had me running round like a mad man! The Case (the big cast housing bit) was cut in the rear to remove/disassemble the hemisphere as much as possible. Once that was out, a very large drill had to be used to drill through the end of the Stub, to the point where the circlip sits, to free it. Thankfully after a few phone calls through connections (its not what you know, its who you know ) I had a S13 VLSD from JLM at Rydalmere to use the case from (the shafts and centre being different), and a matching Stub axle from Stuart Wilkins out at Mulgrave. Both life savers!!! So now I christen it "FrankinDiff". Its back in the car, and ready to test on Monday at SMSP. Most probably a wet day, but will be fun. Box of left over Frankin parts Can you imagine how hard this would be to drill through?? Ahh, after many phone calls, and much scavenging... its back together!

Count me in if it's not too late, thanks -
To be clear, what is the intended use of the car? Daily drive? Track days? 20 lap races? Garage queen/ weekend toy? That will play a part in what you choose.

Ask 10 people what's the best oil, you'll get 10 different answers. Don't stress about it. A very small percentage of people are oil nazis, and they can go read bob the oil guy all they want. For the rest of us, a reputable brand 5w-40 or 10w-50 is fine for 95% of drivers here.

24th August S A U N S W Trackday South Circuit Championship Round 2
PN-Mad replied to crashdown's topic in Events Archive
Just to be clear, your car WILL be scruitinered. That means, someone will look over it for leaks, loose items in the cabin/boot, sufficient tyre tread, brake operation, battery secured (big one! With metal, not zipties!), seat belt condition and operation. If you are unsure about any of these things, please ask, and/or get it sorted before turning up on the day -
Educated Guess At The Final Tune Results

You forgot to mention how the early C63s head studs corrode and they loose coolant, and eventually do the headgaskets. Only took 3 years for them to rectify that one... On a serious note, yeah, they are cool cars. I thourghly enjoyed monstering a CLA45 on the track. In a straight line those little turbos are mighty impressive. -
They all put their handbags on the passenger seat...

2004.5 No such thing as a series 3 About the same, realistically. Turbo is a bit better in the freeway, longer ratios Up to you. You like rwd or awd?

Who knows, we are all playing internet mechanic! Not going to cost any money unplugging a sensor and taking it for a spin to see if the problem is there. Otherwise, get the codes cleared, drive car a couple of days, get it scanned again to see what comes back.

Just disconnect it all together and see what happens. The ecu goes to the backup cam sensors to make the motor run. Often you'll have a coughing hard to start car with the Crank plugged in, and it will start right up when it's unplugged. And as Dale said, they attract metal, and start giving whack readings.

No, not my car mate, just an image I've pull off the net. All the supercars run that style setup. Fit a electric oil warmer in the tank too, just plug it in 1hr before you want to start, and bingo, warm oil

It isn't pressurised. It's just a header tank for the pump that is in the engine bay.As stated above. Place in the boot, on the left. Purpose of this is for the best weight balance when corner weighting.

And then all these bits came along to make it look a bit more complete. They're from JSAI Aero, and seem to be of decent quality, and test fitted ok. Finally, a bit of a sneak peak Still have a fair bit more paint work to do, so another couple of weekends probably before its time to roll. Got to get the electronics sorted for the new indicators too. The LEDs need resistors, and the wiring needs a tidy up.
