Yeah, it was a GTO. Well, it had the black rear cavallino, GTO badge and GTO wheels as well as a GTO number plate. Where did you snap your pic?

Friend on fb posted it so not sure where. But seems to be out and about quite often

Ok here we go

As Terry said, at about 1:00 it's really bizarre as there's this couple standing on the side of the road who have seen the Lambo go past and now the Ferrari, and they're pointing to my 12 year old Bimmer and saying they prefer that! Haha! :P

Well what's a bit weird is if you watch the video again, when the 599 creeps past when still inside the valet area, the exhaust seems to 'blare' a bit, all of a sudden. Not sure if he just presses the sport button or whatever, I don't know what setup there is on the GTO (or Aventador) but it's possible there's a bimodal exhaust setup like the current Maseratis. So in normal running mode it'd be just under 90dB up to the test RPM, above that the valve would open. In sport mode the valve would always be open regardless of RPM?

I found this with an Aston Martin Vantage V12, but the opposite. Sit in neutral and give it a rev and you get creamy V12 goodness up until you get to 3000rpm, when something shuts off in the exhaust and it goes all quiet! I was like giving me a taste of the goodness, then not letting me have any more! Damm NVH engineers!

I have to laugh at the 'innocent' bystander in this whole dramatic clip of...

* the Aventador

* the 599GTO

* the people on the footpath complimenting your bimmer; and that's...

the Disability Sticker hehe...

Nice sounds tho' in between city buildings :)

The SG9 '06-'08 model was riddled with the 1410 & 2432 fault codes Marko, where the air pump could deliver moist air into cylinder #1 > corrosion.

Fortunately mine was blanked off in time.

I think you should be happy with yours, for sure.

The SG9 has slightly better power/weight but Pulse Racing has a couple of tweaks that can help yours get along that much better.

The torque curve is steep on takeoff, but it runs out of puff pretty soon after.

Overall, the Foz XT is a very respectable 'sleeper' that shocks most V8s

Very happy with its reliability too with over 174xxxKms on my '06 model.

Are your rear seats a tad uncomfortable for long trips? If I see yours, I'd like to check out if I should update anytime soon.

I keep having 'arguments' with Nick about the XT being better than his Stag - haha

I've heard about this air pump and I think the series 3 has this as well? Does it run for about 30 seconds on cold start up and its purpose is to recycle the pollution back into the engine?

Yeah I've heard good things about pulse racing actually...bottom end and mid range is great and yes top end is not as strong due to the smallish turbo.

The rear seat is comfortable in fact...we should catch up as I'd like to see your n1 as well :) what part of Sydney do u live in? I'm inner west.

P.S. what is a stag? Not that old triumph thing haha

definitely is over 90DB - how do these exotic cars get away with this level of noise pollution?

harleys fall in the same category when it comes to noise...hmmm

First of all it isn't noise polution, it is noise orgasm.

2nd is stock standard factory ADR approved exhaust with valves.

3rd is there isn't a whole heap of them around where as in normal cars you can put a loud exhaust on any engine and it wil be annoying and every p plater will be doing happy laps around the streets for hours.

4th is it's a f**king V12, nuff said.

R35's are louder than 90db as well under full throttle, not just an exotic thing.

    • Not sure the US can import anything other than the C34 Stagea's, but if you can and you need to to tow, DO NOT under any circumstances get an M35 Stagea. If it is just as a family car and your country/state allows it, absolutely and definitely get an M35 (3.5L if possible as it is effectively a 350Z) over a C34.
    • Punch your VIN (nm35-xxxxxx) into Amayama.com You can see everything there quite easily.
    • Thanks for that, I'll check it all out. I can always do the brakes last anyway if its a problem.  The 16's are super cool, if they do fit I'll cruise around with them for a bit.
    • Well, that's kinda the point. The calipers might interfere with the inside of the barrels 16" rims are only about 14" inside the barrels, which is ~350mm, and 334mm rotors only leave about 8mm outboard for the caliper before you get to 350, And.... that;s not gunna be enough. If the rims have a larger ID than that, you might sneak it in. I'd be putting a measuring stick inside the wheel and eyeballing the extra required for the caliper outboard of the rotor before committing to bolting it all on.
    • OK, so again it has been a bit of a break but it was around researching what had been done since I didn't have access to Neil's records and not everything is obvious without pulling stuff apart. Happily the guy who assembled the engine had kept reasonable records, so we now know the final spec is: Bottom end: Standard block and crank Ross 86.5mm forgies, 9:1 compression Spool forged rods Standard main bolts Oil pump Spool billet gears in standard housing Aeroflow extended and baffled sump Head Freshly rebuilt standard head with new 80lb valve springs Mild porting/port match Head oil feed restrictor VCT disabled Tighe 805C reground cams (255 duration, 8.93 lift)  Adjustable cam gears on inlet/exhaust Standard head bolts, gasket not confirmed but assumed MLS External 555cc Nismo injectors Z32 AFM Bosch 023 Intank fuel pump Garret 2871 (factory housings and manifold) Hypertune FFP plenum with standard throttle   Time to book in a trip to Unigroup
