So are any manual RWD variants able to be brought in with the current compliance that is available?

I was considering one of these, but wouldn't waste my time with auto or 4wd.

I just noticed a threat about a WC34 with a Mines ECU.

Just checked there site, they have a M35 system available http://www.mines-wave.com/E_09/CATALOG/E_ECU_NISSAN_E.html

Anyone running one of these units? I assume they would not be practical if you perform major mods as the unit would need to be remapped anyway.

Any feedback?

I was looking at the Jap Auction sheets earlier this year and the few manuals that pop up are going for quite a lot or being passed in unsold as the owners are expecting a fair bit for them. Obviously things change but from memory not much was being sold for under 1,300,000 yen.

Geoff from Prestige Motorsport offers free trial membership where all of the Stageas going to auction are emailed to you each day and you can log in the next day and check their sale prices.

At current prices I'm not sure Ben from Northshore will buy too many manuals on speculation but if you were serious you might be able to have him source you one. Or just wait and they'll drop down in price over time and then I'm sure they'll start appearing here.

I don't believe that Mine's do a mail order service.

You need to have your car there for them to tune the VX Rom unfortunately.... Hell, you need to take your car to them if you wish to buy their beautiful Z33 Throttle Body

I'll apologise now if this has already been posted at some point, tried a search but got an error.

I was scouring nissan stagea sites with google and had a huge play on the Nissan Japan site and came across a link to a site called Nissan Get-U, anyway after some fiddling around I found a stash of information (yes, in japanese :( ) and pics for the line of stagea's, i have only included the link direct to the M35 (2.5 / 3L) but the site also had a link for WC34 and the later M35 (PM35).

Anyway, wanted to share the information, it is quiet thorough and may be an interesting site to bookmark. (and no, I still have not tracked down the exhaust I have)

http://www.get-u.com/CATALOG/STAGEA/M35/0110/index.html

Whilst I was checking the components for my sound control exhaust and getting it operating I decided to take some photo's of other components and electrical stuff throughout the car.

Anything not connected or missing and you notice it please let me know :D

those are the compliable models, essentially the N means AWD, the P means revised model, what we call a series two.

and yes you can get a PNM35 :)

most models come with optional leather, except ARX which only comes with leather. optional tv/satnav (english language conversion is now available!), sunroof, aero selection (on RS and RX only) and a crap load of other options

To Chook & Chris Rogers,

Hi guy's I'm new here so cannot PM you yet, but I would like to find out more about the costs involved in adding a TV tuner with aux input into my M35 300RX. It's fresh off the boat and has the factory sat/nav/tv & bose system with sub. It all works well (albeit in japanese- I'll be looking to convert the language with your man Shaun over here shortly) and I intend adding a rear screen, xbox & DVD for the kids, and a reversing camera.

The setup you guy's have come up with looks awesome and just the ticket to get the ball rolling so keen to find out more and...thanks in advance!

Hi Blade,

I'm new here too, and live in Auckland. I've owned a '97 Stagea since 2000 (one of the first in NZ) and have just imported an M35, a 2006 RX250 FOUR (non-turbo) to replace it with. The digital TV mod the Aussies do, isn't suitable for NZ as our terrestrial digital TV system is completely different to theirs, using MP4/h.264 video and AAC/AC3 audio. I don't know of any 12V tuners available yet, and if there were any, I believe they would need to be configured to output NTSC video in order to work with the onboard screen. It's possible one of those HDD media players could be an option, so I maybe looking into that. Awesome car though, and also looking forward to the nav conversion too, although the mod for the 2005-2007 models isn't ready yet.

Bis-e Bee, Sorry if it's been mentioned elsewhere, but do you or anyone know what that fluid bottle with the angled filler shaft (as in your photo) is for and where it's located? I thought it was behind one of the storage compartments in the side of the boot, but my 2006 - 250RX FOUR (non-turbo) model doesn't have one of those. The passenger side does have the TV tuner module, but with different TV and output connectors to the 2001 - 2004 models.

unsure on the TV format used there. DVB-T is teh local one here. as for getting things INTO the unit. I sell the leads to do so and I can modify the stock TV tuner to take a camera easily enough. nissan changed tuners in those in the second gerenration. they wnet from using the sedan tuner (s1) to using the coupe tuner (s2) electrically both do the same thing. internally they are quite different. I'm working on a interface so that you can rip that out and plug a normal one in its place. still at prototyping stage though.

Hi Spong, nice to hear from you, fellow Kiwi and thanks for your response. I had suspected that the ausy system wouldn't work yet but thought it might in the future, I did not know that it is completely different. Typical that we would choose to go down a completely different route. I had thought that a Pal to NTSC converter might be required or that I would just use the tuner as a pass thru to connect other devices. Oh well, I have limited knowledge at this point but time spent here should provide some options. I had also assumed that i could use a modded original xbox outputting NTSC for DVD & games and that this would connect to a tuner as an input.

Anyway, loving the car it is indeed awesome. Were are you at, I'm on the north shore.

Hi Chris, thanks for your response. I must confess I am a little confussed at this point and it would appear that I underestimated what would be involved despite reading thru most of this site.

My 300RX is a 2001 i.e. series 1 M35. I have not pulled it apart yet to locate the factory tuner but as per my post above had intended to use this, or another, as an input device. Is this still possible? Does the cable you provide have a propriortry plug to tuner with an RCA female audio video input plug to connect other NTSC devices? I can, and will have to at this point, do without TV but would like to use that av input for DVD etc. The reverse camera would also be importent as I have young kids. Thanks again.

I could be wrong but i think what you are referring to is the Attessa reservoir for the AWD system. In my car it is located behind the right-hand side storage compartment. I don't know but is your vehicle rear wheel drive only?

Hopefully that helps.

Cheers

the lead I sell gives RCA input to the stock system. you still need to feed it a NTSC signal but thats it. if you do the camera I need the OEM tv tuner as I need to modify it.

    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
