Old mans nav was good towing my car as well but I do agree with that darn flat spot from start.

I don't know if the later models (140kW) have fixed that issue or whether it's just the auto, but my Ti doesn't suffer from the poor low end torque and tows heaps better than my previous(125kW) 6 speed

the patrol is now coming up 400 k and still tows every day. maintainence to date. brake pads and tyres. and, shock horror, i split the top tank on the radiator a couple of months back. a 400 dollar fix.

I reckon I should have recieved warranty for that.

Cvt worries me. Few issues in the US with them on the pathfinder.

I was reading that the ford towing speed is a "non enforceable" recommended speed and ford have come out and said as such apparently. Bit of talk about it on the caravan forums about it.

Ford stipulates it as a maximum speed of 80kph when towing over 1600kg in the towing capacities for the Falcon. That's the official information from Ford. And that is what any motoring body (RACQ, RACV) or caravan association will tell you.

Up to you if you believe that or some guys on a forum who claim Ford have apparently come out and said "nah, that just a recommendation".

perfectly accurate paraphrasing of what you said though, isn't it?

"Ford have apparently come out and said "nah, that just a recommendation""

vs

"the ford towing speed is a "non enforceable" recommended speed and ford have come out and said as such apparently".

New Jeep Grand Cherokee if you're looking at new cars. $55k for a Laredo diesel that tows 3500kg. They're an awesome car to drive towing or not. Best value for money in that price range.

Yes I sell them so biased but they're now comfortably smashing Prados so the proof is on paper!

We just sold one to Winton Raceway so they rate them!

The Navara is a good car ST onwards with the 140kw motor are solid but if you go the 6 speed manual you will always have to float the clutch in first gear as the ratio is quite tall especially if your towing close to its 3 tonne max (standard spec) the STX and STX550 are the gun choice though. 170kw and 550nM of torque through a very nice 7 speed auto is amazing to drive and tow with. I borrowed my old boss's STX550 and towed a car trailer with my GTR on it and it drove like it didn't have anything hitched to it

You mean the petrol only, light weight SUV aimed at the facebook and latte brigade?

Burn it

Burn it with fire!!

In reference to that though why do you think the new Y62 Patrol is petrol? Same principle as the new Pathfinder going Petrol only is because the UAE and USA have had these models for over 3 years now. In terms of a global market who cares about 23 odd million people wanting dictate what the majority of Nissans market is wanting?

They are actually a bloody nice car and to be honest when I was selling cars for Nissan most people who bought Pathfinders weren't traversing uninhabited worlds they were just using as a 7 seater they may take camping and sling a trailer or a camper behind.

Mark from Godzilla Motorsports bought a Ti one a few months back and he has the old diesel one swell and he loves it. Just food for thought. Just because it aint diesel doesn't mean its a shit car

Not really, I was just reading in on the caravan forums. Was an interesting read.

My neighbor at work has one, it seems to spend most of the time in the shop getting fixed, the latest issue that he had with it was that one of the ancillary drive belts stretched (on a car that has done less than 10,000ks) and wore through the upper radiator hose, resulting in a rapid loss of coolant. He had the car off the road for nearly two weeks because of that as they didn't have a replacement upper radiator hose in Australia.

    • The fancy pants red shock tower brace is finally incoming from MX5 Mania, getting it shipped from 'Merica has been a long and problematic process, and GWR, the 'Merican supplier will not ship directly to consumers outside of the US, Mania basically had to order a heap of them, the colour choice was silver, or red, and we all know anything red adds 5 killerwasps of dynotorques..... Whilst it does fit over a 2.5, and I've seen a few photos and videos of it being installed and fitting, google also says it might get real close to the FAB9 intake front runner, people in the US says it does fit with the FAB9 intake, except for one person who said it slightly touched.......so there is that.....LOL..... As it seems that I am the first in AU to have this combination of parts there's no local knowledge about fitment, so I'm just a willing guinea pig in this endeavour, I'll cross my fingers and toes and hope for the best In other news, I ordered stuff from China  on the same day I ordered the 23° silicone bend from Victoria, the stuff from China arrived a day ago, the 23° silicone bend is still travelling around Australia thanks to Australia Post, and "may" be here next week
    • Very good news...I contacted Racebox about it last night. My car is a 2016 so remains to be seen if it is compatible, requires a TCU swap, or is impossible.
    • What ECU are you running? This is probably the biggest question. If it's a PowerFC, I'd probably change the ECU and get something newer that will handle the injectors in a nicer way.
