You really think so? I found my 595's to be great. I was never lost for traction when I didn't want to be and they gave me some great launches on the skidpan. Just need to see the test of time now, but for 167 a corner, great value even if they only last 20,000km.

Its a matter of trying them and seeing how much better they are.

Sure for the money 595s are great, but if you want ultimate traction in a street tyre theres plenty of other options not too far from 595s pricewise.

I've had a second hand set of Conti SportsContact2s on the fronts for DECA and I was very happy with the way they performed.

If they were that good second hand, i'd like to see how they'd handle like when new.

I had the least understeer with these tires this DECA then any previous DECA i ran with different tires.

I'm running the same KU36's on the s14 as Rus and a big big fan of them.

def better than the 595 SS and the older RS.

that said I will be moving to the newer 595 rs-r when this set gone from those I spoke to def the tyres to run.

Me too, I ran 595's at the recent DECA and thought they were good for traction and with cornering.

What pressures are you running in yours?

Not sure what pressure, I haven't checked them since I had the tyres fitted to the wheels (couple weeks ago). Probably about time I gave them a pump :(

Admittedly I haven't tried the others you suggested but I've judged these ones against high end street tyres ($250+) that I've tested in the past and they came up pretty well IMO. At the same time my car is only producing 165rwkw so when I launch on boost I don't need a huge deal of grip to get moving.

Awesome Day!

So good to cut loose off public roads.

anyone know where we can find the footage from the legendary dude that was sticking the camera on the side of the cars?

also people having problems watching this:

OK Ladies!

Results are HERE

Great work from Russman taking out the win overall!

Also notable mentions for the little Lancer and MX5 getting right up there against the "big boys"

Other than that good work by all.

I Had a great day even though it was bloody hot standing out there on the long wang.

I will say though, its very interesting to see the difference between the fast and the slower times in the way people are comming into those stop gates.

I was on the long wang but I imagine that it goes for all the other gates during the day.

On that long wang finish, some of you guys could have knocked off sometimes up to 5 seconds I reckon if you just attacked the finish gate a little harder!!

In most cases that would have moved you up from mid-low field right up within in a couple of seconds or so of the front runners.

Somthing to keep in mind for next time :(

Also thanks to Tim, Shane, Mark & Russ for rides during the battles!!

Enjoy!

Looks like another great weekend. Shame Icouldn't be there. How was the after hours shenadigans?

I'll have to get the car down for at least 1 this year. Frysie, I hold you personally responsible if I don't get down there!

go Russman! and also well done to the Clive in the Lancer for taking out the highly contested "NA challenge"..

some of my times were slower in my second run compared to my first run... usually it's the other way round for me, something to improve on for next time I guess.

p.s. for Pat: Z32>R32, 3.0L>2.0L and NA is best :(

    • Sorry, are coilovers ACTUALLY ILLEGAL in NSW? They aren't in Vic, as long as they retain 70% of stock travel and the car is above 100mm off the ground. Does NSW actually have a law making coilovers actually illegal? RWC/Blue Slip/Engineering people not knowing the actual f**king laws boils my blood. Demand them to point to the documentation that states a coilover is illegal. (it may exist in NSW )
    • But seriously, can we ask for the results of the "tip a bottle of metho into a nearly empty tank" experiment?
    • Hang on. Let me get this straight. The desire is to have coilovers, BC in particular, to be MORE comfortable on Sydney roads than stock suspension? Well, that's obviously not right. BCs have crude damping design at the very best, and typically hard spring rates. BC stands for Billy Cart. And then, the desire is to put in some shitty old worn out stockers, to get it blue slipped and then put the BCs back in? And then.....what? Not worry about getting pulled up by the Plod? Because you seem to have raised a worry about paying for engineering (which actually does solve all your legality problems) and still getting pulled up.... but the only problem there is that if/when that happens you have to show your paperwork at the inspection station. Whereas, if you just swap in borrowed shitty old stockers to get it slipped now, and then you get defected in the future, you have to go find more shitty old stockers then too. You course of action looks like this set of options: Buy brand new stock type dampers, and springs. probably cost a bit more than $1k all up, but will last for the remaining life of the car. Put them in, pass inspection, drive on them forever more. Hell, they could even be really nice Bilsteins and Kings or other lower&stiffer springs if you wanted. Get the car engineered as is. ~$1k. Buy new Shockworks coilvers (or MCA) and also pay for engineering. You're spending a lot more here. But these will be the best things that you could drive around on.
    • Might be worthwhile hitting up Facebook's groups, I know most of them contain terrible people and scammers - however you might be able to find someone that's in Sydney with factory suspension you could purchase and/or hire. Just do not send any form of money anywhere, in person cash only.
