"He who has no sinned, may cast the first stone"

MINES,

I'm not one to judge, however going by your history & postings... you do come across young, immature & a little reckless. We've all been there 18 - 25, some a little more reckless than others. Until something lifechanging happens, & if common sense prevails we'll learn from our mistakes.

Being sympathic isn't going to help you... common sense, maturatiy & understanding truely how short life is WILL.

Well incidents like this are just starting to re-inforce my growing believe that no p-plater should EVER be able to drive a GTR (or maybe even a GTS-T for that matter). I am all for people having personal freedom for doing what they want, but this sort of thing is getting beyond a joke. It just makes things worse for

everybody else out there, those who have had the years of driving experience to be able to drive a powerful car and keep it on the road.

Could have been worse, and you're pretty damn lucky. If that pole had been 40cm closer on your drivers door, I doubt you'd be here posting about it today. You would have simply become another "statistic" to help the government enforce stricter and stricter penalties for drivers out there who drive within their limits.

p.s. enjoy driving the gemini, because a GTR (or any skyline) is definitely not worthy for you

Your attitude since joining these forums has been not only personally irritating but also extremely immature. Your accident only reinforces my feelings.

:werd:

**** me some of you guys must have no hearts at all. How could any of you wish he was hurt in the accident, you think that would teach him anymore of a lesson

Heart? I think the majority of older or more mature people on here get sick of reading about dickheads doing dumb things in skylines. This just makes public perception worse and makes more difficult to drive a car we really like driving who don't be stupid about it.

While, yes, maybe that is self centered, but also really I think everybody *does* have the interests of these people best at heart, and preventing them from killing themselves (or worse, others!) on the roads! Nobody wants that, so hence the anger.. Its sad that sometimes the only way certain types of people learn is by being yelled at, or ****ing up badly.

He WAS lucky that is for sure. Now he needs to LEARN from this. If he is like other certain people I know he WONT for many years.

I can understand the anger from reading about this sort of thing all the time, but theres no need to go down to the level of wishing someone was hurt.

I think most people wouldnt learn anything from being yelled/flamed at, it might make em think about it for a little while, but they are only going to go back the way they were.

However something like this would really hit home though, and its something you would think about ALL the time when your driving, unlike some angry dood on a forum having a go at you.

MINES i feel for u, i was the passenger in a similar car acciident(wasnt my car), we didnt even see it comming, was a smooth corner front moved out, clipped gutter, spun round, was stopped by a tree at 60ks, thank God the tree stopped us. car was write off, no one hurt. i was in shock and pissed off for about a week, saying i would neva drive my car again but i got ova it. all u people who say leave it for the track, well i doubt theeir would b any of yous who hav neva been wreckless while driving, that includes drifting, chirping, burnouts. glad your ok and no one was hurt man

Well put Predator bigthumb.gif

I feel for u Mines and i agree on a fair few points of view from the people in this thread, but those of u saying he was a d|ckhead, cmon please peeps like every now and then u dont speed or drive a little on the wild side? If u say no to that your a liar, and i dont know why u have a skyline 4 may as well b driving a Mirage!

All the best!

mmmm, just found this thread, Merli you are a classic. There are a lot a conflicting views here, and although glad to here know one was hurt, anyone who says they couldn't see that coming is kidding themselves. I agree, I have done my fair share of stupid stuff but when I was it was in a 998cc mini which took about 1/2 an hour to get to 100k. Driving a car as powerful as a GTR takes a hell of a lot more responsibility and if you don't have it you shouldn't drive one, as you can see the results.

Besides you have to expect to be flamed a little when you have stirred as many people as you have with some of your posts.

Thats a complete write off. I didnt even need to look at the pic in full size.

Glad nobody was hurt but its pretty simple really, drive like a dickhead in ANY car let alone a GTR and results like this are to be expected.

You my friend learnt the hard way. For a second time.

What was he trying to prove at 2am in the morning I will never understand?

It's that six degrees of seperation thing: "Fool's and fast cars will soon part"

Almost Boasting that he smashed a GTR in the first post with a title like "I Smashed My Gtr Real Bad." and "this is the second time i have totaled a car" Sounds like the only lesson he learnt is how to smash a GTR "real bad" and hopes that the people of sau will offer some comforting advice, Well.... here it is "A GTR is not a TOY, it is, and always will be a weapon in the hands of the inexperienced driver" and you have just proved that you are just that "inexperienced" for that matter any driver at 20 is inexperienced to handle such a powerful car.

What about the bus stop? Sure it was empty, but if it wasn't you probably would be in jail.

My advice to Mines Datsun is the same as Rezz's comment and do us all a favour and "stay out of skylines" until your value for your life is greater than your will to push the pedal down hard.

MEGA

I find myself in general agreement with ph1, and others.

I've just been looking for insurance, and incidents like this are the reason most often given for the high cost. Ypoung kids get hold of high performance cars, then crash them and write them off. So the rest of us have to pay.

There are no accidents - there are consequences of bad decisions. The kid gunned it round a corner. What do you expect might happen.

And this being the second car he's written off - I think hemust have a death wish.

That said, it's always encouraging that only his pride was injured.

    • Update 3: Hi all It's been a while. Quite a lot of things happened in the meantime, among other things the car is (almost) back together and ready to be started again. Things that I fixed or changed: Full turbo removal, fitting back the OEM turbo oil hardlines. Had to do quite a bit of research and parts shopping to get every last piece that I need and make it work with the GT2860 turbos, but it does work and is not hard to do. Proves that the previous owner(s) just did not want to. While I was there I set the preload for the wastegates to 0,9bar to hopefully make it easier for the tuner to hit the 370hp I need for the legal inspections that will follow later on. Boost can always go up if necessary. Fitted a AN10 line from the catch can to the intake hose to make the catchcan and hopefully the cam covers a slight vacuum to have less restrictive oil returns from the head and not have mud build up as harshly in the lines and catch can. Removed the entire front interior just shy of the dashboard itself to clean up some of the absolutely horrendous wiring, (hopefully) fix the bumpy tacho and put in LED bulbs while I was there. Also put in bulbs where there was none before, like the airbag one. I also used that chance to remove the LED rpm gauge on the steering column, which was also wired in absolute horror show fashion. Moved the 4in1 Prosport gauge from sitting in front of the OEM oil pressure gauge to the center console vents, I used a 3D printed vent piece to hold that gauge there. The HKB steering wheel boss was likely on incorrectly as I sometimes noticed the indicator reset being uneven for left vs. right. In the meantime also installed an airbag delete resistor, as one should. Installed Cube Speed premium short shifter. Feels pretty nice, hope it'll work great too when I actually get to drive. Also put on a fancy Dragon Ball shift knob, cause why not. My buddy was kind enough to weld the rust hole in the back, it was basically rusted through in the lowermost corner of the passenger side trunk area where the wheel arch, trunk panel and rear quarter all meet. Obviously there is still a lot of crustiness in various areas but as long as it's not rusted out I'll just treat and isolate the corrosion and pretend it's not there. Also had to put down a new ground wire for the rear subframe as the original one was BARELY there. Probably a bit controversial depending on who you ask about this... but I ended up just covering the crack in the side of the engine block, the one above the oil feed, with JB Weld. I used a generous amount and roughed up the whole area with a Dremel before, so I hope this will hold the coolant where it should be for the foreseeable future. Did a cam cover gasket job as the half moons were a bit leaky, and there too one could see the people who worked on this car before me were absolute tools. The same half moons were probably used like 3 times without even cleaning the old RTV off. Dremeled out the inside of the flange where the turbine housing mates onto the exhaust manifolds so the diameter matches, as the OEM exhaust manifolds are even narrower than the turbine housings as we all know. Even if this doesn't do much, I had them out anyways, so can't harm. Ideally one would port-match both the turbo and the manifold to the gasket size but I really didn't feel up to disassembling the turbine housings. Wrapped turbo outlet dumps in heat wrap band. Will do the frontpipe again as well as now the oil leak which promted me to tear apart half the engine in the first place is hopefully fixed. Fitted an ATI super damper to get rid of the worn old harmonic balancer. Surely one of the easiest and most worth to do mods. But torquing that ARP bolt to spec was a bitch without being able to lock the flywheel. Did some minor adjustments in the ECU tables to change some things I didn't like, like the launch control that was ALWAYS active. Treated rusty spots and surface corrosion on places I could get to and on many spots under the car, not pretty or ideal but good enough for now. Removed the N1 rear spats and the carbon surrounding for the tailpipe to put them back on with new adhesive as the old one was lifting in many spots, not pretty. Took out the passenger rear lamp housing... what do you know. Amateur work screwed me again here as they were glued in hard and removing it took a lot of force, so I broke one of the housing bolts off. And when removing the adhesive from the chassis the paint came right off too. Thankfully all the damaged area won't be visible later, but whoever did the very limited bodywork on this car needs to have their limbs chopped off piece by piece.   Quite a list if I do say so myself, but a lot of time was spent just discovering new shit that is wrong with the car and finding a solution or parts to fix it. My last problem that I now have the headache of dealing with is that the exhaust studs on the turbo outlets are M10x1.25 threaded, but the previous owner already put on regular M10 nuts so the threads are... weird. I only found this out the hard way. So now I will just try if I can in any way fit the front pipe regardless, if not I'll have to redo the studs with the turbos installed. Lesson learned for the future: Redo ALL studs you put your hands on, especially if they are old and the previous owners were inept maniacs. Thanks for reading if you did, will update when the engine runs again. Hope nothing breaks or leaks and I can do a test drive.
    • No those pads are DBA too  but they have colors too. I look at the and imo the green "street" are the best.
    • I’m not sure what happened I told them about sonic tunes free OTS tune and the next the I know .. I was booted..   To funny
    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
