wow thread finally got a little interesting, you guys like to think big.. I like it

But i will never be able to afford it so..

Something i have often wondered is, with all the front wheel drive cars around these days.

Would these drivlines make good transplants into mid-engine or rear engine sports cars, like the Ariel atom for instance..what if there were a chassis you could buy that was setup so you could put almost any front wheel driveline into the back of it to make a budget toy or trackcar..

Kind of like you can buy a replica clubman or cobra kit car and basically build it up from spares from the wreckers. Or those buggys you put motorbike engines into..

Imagine throwing something like an XR5 driveline into a lightweight rear engine chassis it would have to be quik..

Would it work or am i missing something here..

also while i think about it,I have always had a soft spot for the old Cobra and if I ever wrote my skylines shell off I was thinking it would be a great drivleine to drop in a cobra kit car. i know my old boss built one up for under 30k with a 400hp 302..there is plenty of room in the cobra nose so an RB should fit, it would weigh under a tonne and with 300+kw at the rears would be a hoot to drive around in

I know the XR6T engine has been put into an R33 GTS-T...

I'd like to see one in a gt-t or a mint 180sx though. I love the 4L ford engine, hate the chassis it's in though...

I had a street fords mag with a worked xr6t engine in something like a cortina or a Capri. Can't remember, but it was absolutely insane, lol.

If anyone knows of the link to the vid of the 33 with the xr6t engine, or any details on the xr6t engine in the cortina/escort/Capri or whatever it was, please post them :)

I'd personally like to put an XR6T engine in an xf ute and put coil overs in the rear. The xf I had was a fun slider, it would be excellent like that.

lol at you for posting it, i doubt you were joking

I also doubt anyone on this forum will drop a NASCAR-spec V8 into a DeTomaso Pantera..

It's just a bit of fun. Don't get so angry over it..

I own one of these:

And i have constantly thought about putting the engine from one of these in it:

I believe they both share similar, if not the same engine block. Pathfinder is MASSIVELY underpowered and under tourqed. A twin tuirbo ZX engine should liven it up a bit!!

this is a cool thread,

the idea of the ae86 with the TRD atlantic race engine is genius, and seeing as i own an AE86, i would love to do it. they are 300HP out of the box and rev to 14000 RPM! insanity!

The beetle with the EJ20 has been done, and it f**king cool i might add!

My best mate is building (which i have helped and am helping with) a genuine vertex ridge widebody 180SX with an XR6T with 450KW sports sedan. 3 cylinders are in the cab, 3 are in the bay. Full chromoly cage, relocated shifter with tremec box, dry sumped, the list is endless...

Oh the F20C is f**king cool too!

Did u all see the 20B AE86 on youtube?

and i love the hot rod ideas, seeing as i am a hot rodder from way back.

I had an idea of a DC5 with rear mount transaxle vtec, so when u look through the hatch window, u see the engine right there!

the FD RX7 with pushrod monstrosity of thong slapping has been done

and another of my good friends has an S13 with a lexus quad cam V8 in it...

im not sure what id do in this instance, even tho i am a die hard RB fan, and have my own R32 GTR with a 2630 as a 2wd drift car, i guess i would do cars like:

mad mikes car is up there with the 26B

or

a chopped windowless FB Holden panelvan with a blown injected top alcohol wild bunch engine in it

or

ive always thought of swapping my R32 GTR shell for an S15 and putting my running gear in it. maybe one day.

what does everyone think?

oh and a guy around the corner from my workshop in whom i have become mates with has, and has completed and raced, and R32 GTR with a blown aluminum LS7 in it, with porsche GT cup car wheels, brakes and modified struts in. he corner weighted the car and it saved him 200 pounds on the front end!

i guess what takes the cake is this, its one of my best friends and buisness mentor Marios car. Its a 1959 Cadillac Coupe De Ville Custom.

I helped with bits and peices here and there for him over the years, and also helped him with countless other cars and bikes he owns.

    • So the original radiator is leaking now. Looking at getting a fully aluminium one next. Am I correct in saying that the Series 2 Auto Stageas have a separate trans cooler from factory (located in between the rad and intercooler in my previous post/message).   Currently looking at Fenix $460, Blitz $700, GReddy $800, and KoyoRad $740. What are everyones thought on Fenix ( ive read a few comments saying theyre cheap Chinese rebrands etc and how their build quality is... well.. chinese...)  compared to the others? Worth the extra couple hundies?
    • Man, different parts but the same numbers is terrible @dbm7! And it doesn't help that most online shops don't list the part numbers at all. They just give a list of compatible models...
    • Slow when hot could also be because its getting more dynamic compression, OR things are getting a bit tighter once it is all expanded. If it were an earthing issue, typically I'd expect you to have it have issues all the time. Unless it's really a combination of both things. Where the higher compression, and things being a bit tighter, is giving that bit of extra load and you do need a slight clean up on the cables/connections.
    • Yeah, this is one of the most annoying things about nissan part numbers... I've got an unrelated example... Image is of the AT output shaft ~ they have the same part#, but clearly the shaft on the left is beefier design to that on the right ...the difference (essentially) is the 'lighter' shaft on the right, is for engines up to RB25DE (this includes RB20 variants) : the shaft on the left is for RB25/26DET(T)....are they interchangeable? Yes...but obviously one shaft is going to be stronger than the other...and, the lighter shaft is around USD115, but the heavier shaft closer to USD150...same part#... ...epc-data usually tells a tale ~ the amayama listing for 39100-23U60 has a note "Longest side is between 60 and 105 cm" ; no such info is there for 39100-23U70 ...and given the great disparity in price between the 2 parts, it makes me at least curious (to the point of caution) where the 'extra money' went? ...ie; these 2 parts have a cost difference that (to myself at least) isn't explained by 'plastic boot'...ie; with amayama there's AUD700 price difference ...plastic versus rubber?...I'm not seeing it like that...and 60cm ~ 105cm...??...that's a huge disparity....something hinky going on here... I'd try searching by VIN, not model... /2cents
