You can do that with a GTS-T though, to much the same degree...injectors are my only give away cause I cbf spraying them the standard colour.

Return flow IC is legal as long as you don't have a pod.

When I drove a GTR I wasn't impressed. Maybe it had been talked up or I don't hit the corners enough to justify having AWD, but having come from a well sorted GTS-T, I wouldn't pay the extra money.

same..GTST is a much more usable daily car....Im sure the GTR comes into its own at high speeds though and deadly launches...but for a daily driver around town...NAh

so case scenario you cant source a second hand rubber intake, they dont make them anymore and they all fall apart...Am I supposed to an expensive engineer certified exemption to put a modfied intake in? there has to be be some leniency there...the rules are f**king stupid, which is why nobody abides by them...on the other hand people are f**king stupid and thats why there is laws....

You should have gone for a drive in the Stagea today, in that heavy rain. Still hooks up nicely. ;) You can't beat awd grip anytime.

I agree, intake pipes are exempt as long as the AFM is in the stock position and the BOV/Breather pipes are plumbed back. I wouldn't be asking a police officer how to interpret these laws though.

I have seen 500kw through stock GTR pipes, cooler and airbox, and also 430kw through a gtst with a return flow cooler. I have no idea where the idea these parts don't support more power started, but they were probably trying to sell their overpriced products.

Yes, the rubber gtst intake will definitely suck shut at around 250kw but it's a simple mod to replace the intake, and painted black it is barely noticeable. I still don't know if a replacement intake is legal though, as they only seem to mention pod filters.

Yes GTR's were over-engineered so that they could do that pretty comfortably. GOOD return flow coolers are very rare on a GTST budget, lettuce be real here lots (not all) owners of GTSTs just do basic mods like FMIC, pod and exhaust, maybe a bigger turbo if they're lucky. Not many people do the research and buy a good return flow from the beginning. The return pipe is simply too sharp of a bend, just like how on GTR's the rear turbo intake becomes a restriction because of how sharp of an angle the air has to change to get into the turbo. The idea has reasoning behind it, plenty of cars that can't crack much over the 300kw mark with a return flow when they should be making more, but at the same time, plenty that do make more power with a return flow, but they definitely can be a restriction.

The problem with the metal intake pipe (this is a good part of why I sold my GTST), is that it still isn't legal, even if it was same dimensions and looked pretty much the same, it's still an intake modification. Then when you get EPA'd and you have a bigger turbo inlet that won't accept the standard intake pipe, what do you do then?

You don't have to tell me, I love the nm35 man, I drove Jethros in rain and fog...it is just amazingly easy to drive everywhere and the chassis/engine layout is incredibly well balanced..i prefered it to the GTR actually

Instead i drove the Cressida to Geelong on puring rain today..the chassis is balanced like a pendulam ...it also hooks up very well everywhere..with the LSD and fat kumhos I cant even get it to spin tyres in the wet now...and believe me i tried hard.... :P

You're not just avoiding the EPA, but having to prove yourself right in the first place which is the real pain in the ass. Testing paid for by yours truly in either case.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
    • When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?
    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
