I was told with Just Cars that I didn't get to choose the repairer when my door was dented in, I just had to take it into their assessment center and they had 3-4 of their workshops look at it and quote on the repair and it went to the cheapest (approx $1k)

Ended up with a 2nd hand door, resprayed very well in white and all my stuff (speakers, window glass, mirror etc) swapped onto the new door).

They scratched the glass badly, tint was destroyed, door didn't actually close properly because the window glass wasn't adjusted at all. Didn't think to check any of this at the time I went to pick it up because it was quarter past 5 and everyone (them and me) were running late for things... Power mirror doesn't work at all anymore and sometimes the window switch stops working (loose connection somewhere, a bump in the road usually fixes it up).

Called up JCI and they said it wasn't their problem, they didn't want to take a report of the bad workmanship, instead I should re-book it in with the workshop that did the repairs. Called the workshop, they said that I'd need to book it back in via JCI as it was an insurance job and that it would be another couple of days I'd be without the car.

Ended up fixing the majority of it myself so I wasn't carless for any more time, inconvenient as hell :(

2 weeks later I got a renewal notice from JCI which was $400 more than the previous year, with a $2k reduction in agreed value. Told them to go fucck themselves and went straight to Shannons now that I can afford to / they'll take me as I'm old enough and have a good history.

Wasn't this an accident where someone hit you?

JCI are pretty shit with their renewals...I have phoned them up before and complained about the cost of renewal, and the lowest they could give me was $100 more per year than the cost of a brand new policy...with less agreed value...girl on phone agreed I should just start a new policy? lol

So I've done that twice now...

DO IT!

Btw glad to see someone putting in effort to hold regular events again. :)

Committee did try to get a Dyno day up & running earlier this year but had no luck with workshops willing to participate. Tony may have more luck though!

Yeah I usually just cancel and start new policies when the price goes up

I know the parents have been with RACV and get good discounts now, but if the insurance went up any time while holding the policy it would cancel out by the end anyway

Did similar thing today, Insure my ride wanted over $1500 for my full comp cover.. bike is only worth like 15k..

Called up QBE insurance after a quick google people said they were cheap.. signed up in 5 minutes over the phone for $850 & they cover upto 4k in gear as well

Yeah I'm with Swann/QBE

Always cheap

But yeah have had to re-sign with them every time I renew; they do the same trick as JCI

JCI are the worst I was with them for like 8 years multiple policies they jacked up my insurance by like 400-500 bucks in one go called em up like wtf said bad luck refused to negotiate I'm quite loyal never shopped em around but moved to Allianz got cheaper premium but high excess ($2.5k dat luxury car rapeage) but got way more benefits road side free windscreen etc so JCI can suck a fat wang

who tuned it cheq or racepace :O?!?!?

Well at 123mph and full weight if it's one the 2 places it could end some arguments as it would have to be just on 350rwkw

    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
