Mate just got a major defect pulling out of the panel shop. Didn't directly take a speed, and was going over it on angle and the cops pulled him up about 10 seconds later.

Got done for being too low, tint, walls, bump stops and tyre placard. Merry Christmas.

walls, bumpstops?

How does it sound Leigh?

Decat soon? Mate bought an xr6 turbro. Goes very nice!

Really want a gs ute now.

Sounds like a supercharged v8 :P

Pretty loud for a stock exhaust, I'll probably just leave it and get tune only

Xr6 turbos are nice as well, but GS is the way to go if you want to spend 1500 and get some huge powahh, plus sound cooler

Auto > manual

Sure manual you are in more control more "driving" but autos are quicker that's the facts

Not just the quickness, but yea want to keep the car for ages and will be working in the city soon - not to mention people already replacing stock clutches in the manuals

People might say auto is gay, but when you drive a ZF auto they are pretty awesome :worship:

With Alex on this one. People use getting kicked out of places as bragging rights these days...so they do stupid shit to make it happen...sounds like something worth encouraging?

Not really. Some autos are f**king shit. Like the one in the bf xr6 310kw version. I changed gears around same time as him and lost no ground what so ever.

Yes auto is crap which is why it's used in most of the latest top end sports/supercars because ofcourse it's gay and a waste of time.

what would the best engineers in the world know anyway...

Exactly

yeh agree leigh i drive heaps all stop start for work a manual wouldnt even be considered but each to their own

horses for courses

Yep much better for cruising / daily, if I were drifting it I'd get a manual but I'm not.. well not intentionally :P

Yeah you're a flog mohsen, no ones impressed that you get kicked out, you sound like a 14 year old delinquent.

Leigh, did you have any riding experience before you got your l's?

I rode dirt bikes from a young age (pee-wee 50 types), started off small and ended up with a 150 which I sold at 16 - rode only once every month or 2 so not too much.

Got my Ls on the 1 day course, they expect you to know how to ride and basic controls. That being said I hadn't sat on a bike for about 5 years still passed fairly easily, you'll be fine. If you're worried just do the 2 day course, seriously though don't stress its easy.

As for on the road, a bit weird at first.. just doing 80 or 100 seems like your flying. I just took it easy, didn't weave or go to the front of the lights at first. After a few months you get more comfortable, still I always wear gear and don't try to be a hero. Good fun though. Do it!

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
