Yeah it is subscription, but it takes a bit of time to work up through the licenses so it's not an all in one hit cost.

I think so far in over 6 months of racing I've probably spent around $150.

It can get pricey in the first year but other than the ~$12 p/month cost, everything else is a one off fee.

personally I'm hooked. the first month or so when you're a rookie is insanely frustrating, but as you progress you race against better drivers so the racing is much cleaner and more challenging.

Sounds good man....but I'm done paying monthly fees for any games. 150ish up front, then 12 a month ofterwards isnt bad, but I wouldnt play it enough to justify the price.

And thats too much money for a game.... But i Guess it's not really marketed as a game.

Because im not rich enough to buy all the tracks or cars on iRacing, i find myself having to race the MX-5 all the time, although i guess for me it still gets the heart pumping when theres some nice clean door to door action with other drivers. :)

I need to improve in my current G27 rig. Its fine for now as I need to move it after I use it. Home built.

Building a new house in the next 8-12mnths so it will be able to be left in the theatre room set up hopefully, so I might look at doing a seated rig instead of the current slide upto the couch style.

All I do it GT5 these days is drift with 12 yr old Japanese kids lol

Lol nice.

I never got the hang of drifting in it. up to GT4 I could drift the crap out of the games, but from there I got nothing.

I spend my GT5 time flying around the Nurburgring in everything and anything

GT4/5 has some of the suckiest attempts at exhaust / turbo notes ive ever heard. Half the cars sound nothing like theyr meant too. Basically every v8 sounds completely retarded. Skylines have a slightly distinct RB sound at lower revs and cruising speed but like pretty much every car in the game, once you plant it all you get is that crappy atmospheric tasteless engine sound (not exhaust sound). I cant explain it too well but surely someone understands what I mean...

Hell, from every single car game I have ever played, Need for Speed Underground 2 would have to have some of the most accurate car sounds I have ever heard. Serious lol

edit: havnt ever played forza games but seen some vids and wasnt overly impressed. Sound is everything for me!! haha

What I like about the gt sounds is that they change with camera position. and in real life the sound of a car will be different depending on where you hear it from. Standing behind the car you will hear the exhaust note much more than if you are at the front of the car, where it will sound totally different. I think this is what many people don't take into account. They are used to hearing a cars exhaust sound and think that when using the bumper cam the car should sound like the exhaust. Surely you have all noticed that your own car sounds different when driving to when you hear it drive past, or if you have the bonnet up and rev it.

And I've got a good home theatre system and the cars sound good on gt5.

No no they don't Marc. Especially the US cars. Completely wrong notes and it gets worse when you change exhausts. GT's sound is actually the single most disappointing thing about it after the crappy physics and huge amount of boring "premium" cars.

Play Forza to see what I mean.

I noticed that Marc, its cool watching a replay with surround sound. Well not really, the cars still sound like modified vacuum cleaners.

IMO its just one of the many stupid things in the game that has had too much time and effort put into it, where resources could have been put to better use in other departments.

Sports exhausts are the best option for sound, and try avoiding full race spec gearbox.

Mad is right, it does sound good at volume on a big enough system. But Fortza shits all over it with awesome sounds and crackles. Maybe a little over done even.

Premium cars in GT are shiney......why fortza no change the exhaust with exhaust changes? they keep their stupid little pee shooter pipes. how hard is that? they all have their major flaws.

As I said earlier, a combo of all the good bits from both games would make one awesome game. But that of coarse will never happen, and we will always have something to complain about :)

how are they boring? and how are the physics crappy? I've played alot of fortza lately.......I know which I prefer to drive. not all cars are drift cars, but Forza seems to think they are.

Cars in forza look OK, better in some ways. and worse in others, the crash models are pathetic and I prefer non. The tracks and scenery in Forza are gorgeous.

Back on topic!

GT6 will apparently actually have lots of wheel choices and sizes, as well as more modifying of cars than ever before. Race mod everything! I wish they would Kull the ridiculous standard car list. No one needs 10000 Miata's and Skylines of every vague variation.

I think GT6 needs more R35's :P

Exhaust sounds need to be like the real thing for EVERY car (have you guys heard a Lambo or LFA in real life?).

I hope they keep the differing sounds from each view, but don't tell me I need a surround sound setup for the cars to sound good in GT5. Pretty sure that if the exhaust sounds were recorded decently, my Duntech Baron's would bring out a decent sound yet the cars still sound rubbish

Damage modelling from Grid 2 to both online and offline races please and cost to repair after each race (if required) would make things much more interesting.

correct me if im wrong but the latest news on gt6 hasnt mentioned anything about improving sounds :( and all the gt4 cars are still going to be in the game by the looks of it but hopefully they can be modified as much as the premium cars.

No idea what fancy brand that is, but the fact you had to name your stereo tells me its expensive. try turning it up louder? I'm not saying they do sound GREAT!! but its not as bad as most make it out to be. the 787B for example is pure porn sounds.

Great idea for GRID2, I'm sick of tards on ram raids while racing onrine

Correct, no mention at all about the sound. which is a little worrying. yes they really need to ditch all those old cars. or at least most of them.

gt5 was a bit of a let down, the only thing that kept me playing was to finish the game. and what's the deal with buying add-on packs to get more cars? also it was stupidly slow to load anything.

Forza 3&4 are a lot better and i played them more than any other game i own.

I won't be buying gt6

    • Ironically the GTT was quite reliable in the 7 years of ownership. From memory I've only had to replace a radiator and coilpacks out of inconvenience
    • Yes I can see how that would put you off HFM, especially with the price of good quality brake fluid. From what I understand it as you say the BM50 is the standard BMC for a R32 GTR, I must admit I would like to go far a Genuine Nissan BM57, but lack of cash prevents that at present. With the price being so close between the genuine BM50 and BM57 a BM57 New it seems a better choice as you gain that 1/16 bore size with the BM57, I would be interested in how much difference you feel with the BM57 fitted. I am going to take SteveL's advice in the short term and see how much actually comes out of that proportioning valve vent and save up for the Genuine Nissan part. Thanks for clarifying the HFM failure
    • Thanks mate. I just got the post inspection 1/2 done from state roads when the starter motor packed up, either that or the car alarm system is having trouble.  OEM part number 23300-AA112.
    • Hi, I though I was coming to an end in finding a replacement starter motor for a rb25de neo. I came across a starter motor from Taarks and a message below stating: Direct fit. 11 Tooth count. All below part numbers have been superseded to 11 teeth. Can some body shed some light on going from 8 teeth to 11 teeth apart from 36-month / 25,000 km warranty for passenger vehicles to 12 Month Warranty. Compatible with the following Nissan part numbers: 23300-20P00 23300-20P01 23300-20P05 23300-20P10 23300-20P11 23300-AA111 23300-AA112 23300-AA300 23300-08U10 23300-08U11 23300-08U15
    • Low battery? Maybe check capacity? I know first-hand, on BMWs if your battery drops below 80% capacity, it starts causing strange issues.
