Yeah real glamour I know.

Managed to ruin a stud on the weekend which means I now have to buy ten new Nismo long (50mm) studs and new wheel nuts.

I presently have the Project Mu nuts:

http://www.project-mu.com.au/en/products/other_nut_racing.php

Problem being they are open ended and water sits in the ends of them after rain or when you wash the car and you end up with a corroded stud and nut.

So I am after something with a closed end, some STEEL (Not aluminium) and something that doesn't need a special key to unlock them with (So no 7 sided Nismo nonsense or lock nuts)

This is the closest I can find:

I think they are steel but cant confirm. Does anyone have them? Do they fit the 50mm wheel studs?

Of course I then need two sets to get rid of the lock nuts.

I bought mine from the local repco, chrome/steel. The flange style is excellent for seating them in the socket when asking them on and off, and they last forever.

Not sure that a closed end nut will work on a long stud though

LOL, come on man. I run the open ended steel Rays nuts. I always grease my studs and expect the film of grease means they never corrode. Oh, and my front studs are ARP so come zinc coated, though it no doubt wears off after lots of use. . Though my rear Nismo studs are plain steel and are in with a box of bolts and bits that are going off for zinc coating before my new rear end goes back together/into the car.

Really - what torque do you use post lube?

keep using the $300 project MU nuts and just blow out the water after washing. Or go all out and spray a bit of WD40 in there...

Yeah bit late for that. They are already rusted and fkd. Glad I didn't pay $300 for them.

Roy, you don't happen to have a part number for the ARP studs - cant find a reference on their site.

    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
