works fine with a lift pump

As long as the stupid 5/16" inlet / outlet hardpipes are removed, as this really is the entire problem with the factory GTR top hats.

They’re gone, is -8 now

Yeah I saw. 👍 These factory 5/16" OD hard lines have cost me 3 x cracked fuel tanks from pressurisation with a surge tank setup. Not to mention never, ever use the R32 fuel pump cradle return line to put fuel back at the pump - it goes to about 4mm.

Bin it.

Yesterday I finished work early and decided to play with the car for a little bit, was just going to drain the oil and water and pull the gear stick out, next thing I knew the gear box was on the ground (well on my arm which was on the ground) and most of the engine was undone B95609D8-9DA1-4F96-81AD-B862782ADBE2.thumb.jpeg.7013e83eca463371f29998f20f5ff3ca.jpeg259C7551-5656-4717-8527-243EB4CF373E.thumb.jpeg.059d269ca284ce309c4736c23b70b931.jpeg

Last night I wasn’t sure if I had done some serious damage to my arm or not, I woke up this morning at it was still sore but still able to move it so guess it’s ok.

today i decided to take an rdo cause I was super keen on getting work done on the car, I pulled the clutch off, pull the front shafts and undid the mounts and pulled it out and threw it on a stand 124A8802-A101-4A19-A112-EC2F017459EC.thumb.jpeg.67936a22a6314fbcda169e8fb85be538.jpegthat engine bay is a mess, I plan on fixing that while the engine is out

Started pulling the engine down today and everything looks clean without any sludge and etc, got the head off and after you turned the gasket over you could see the gasket had blown between 6 and the exhaust side water gallery.

Unfortunately that turned out to be the least of my problems and so far I’ve found 3 cracks in the deck of the block between 2 of the head bolt holes and water jackets so it’s a bin job and the search begins 😞91C7C94F-328C-4A38-9F9B-6EFE092FAD51.thumb.jpeg.7371cc8cf57351daf9a64443458984bc.jpeg42C3225D-5A21-4245-A784-E2CD38E68CAC.thumb.jpeg.8ffd7ac1039faf86f3f28a049f8a5893.jpeg

    • The final part arrived today to un-clampify and simplify the intake Who would have though a 1/2" hose stainless bulkhead fitting designed for below waterline bilge pumps would be what I needed Test fit on a 3" offcut I had laying around to see if it would work, and it worked a treat All going well the intake will be on its "final version" tomorrow

    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
