To a point though...

Don't strip the electrics out of your car, if you don't own a soldering iron and a pair of crimpers.

Make sure you have the right tools and some idea of what you are doing and how things generally come apart and go back together.

^That's what my mind says to me anyhow...

Haha most DIY is a waste of time unless you just truly enjoy it and the learning process. It's almost always cheaper to pay someone to do it better than you.

First 3 cars I owned didn't have cup holders, zero fks given. Only spilled slurpies on my crotch 2-3 times before mastering. Need those power Windows though, only so you can easily wind them all down from the drivers seat.

I would much rather a 250,000km GTR from a reputable owner, who has looked after and repaired the car with a known history then a 70,000km GTR with too many unknowns.

Engine rebuild more likely on 70,000kms version. People repairing every Damn aspect of the car at "100,000kms" anyway. Brakes, AC, turbos, interior, gauges, diffs, motors, suspension etc...

Yeah, fair enough. My work commute involves the freeway, a lot. So i'm keen for Cruise Control. It's just so handy. Set to 100, sit in the middle lane, don't hit anything. And after 45 minutes i'm at my work! :)

Am i the only one who thinks the Gti and R look soooo boring? It just seems like something an accountant who likes cars would buy.

No, you're not alone.

They're boring looking but incognito as f**k thou, translation: Zero cop attention and cheaper insurance (although factory fitted tilt and motion sensor might have something to do with it).

These things need non resonated exhaust for hilarious DSG farts - best one I've felt was like firecrackers going off.

Precisely.

The useful thing one can have in anything that moves.

I'm actually kinda keen on the new Kia... 272kw 3.3L V6TT RWD, looks the tits and should slide in at under $50k

Kinda sounds very similar to an FG XR6T 270kw 4.0L Turbo RWD, under 50k

The Kia looks pretty nice I wonder how it responds to a few tune ups / mods

That's what I would fear

It's one thing to have a 3.3 twin turbo in it, but another to be engineered the way the Nissans and Toyotas of the 90s were with tough bottom ends and components spec'd beyond their requirements.

There's points to both sides of this. I am fortunate that my employers don't care what car I drive. However, there are some industries where a car is no different to a suit and will be used to judge your success and personality even if the assumptions are off-point. I don't envy these - it's a job expense as far as I'm concerned. You wear an ill-fitting cheap suit and it rubs off on your image, ala Hamish if he were to drive a 33 again...in spite of the gingham shirt. And if Alex drove around in anything less than a Lexus people might think real estate agents aren't pretentious dbags and we can't have that.

Understanding that if you are in a client-facing role, a first-impression and your words/promises is what builds confidence but all of that comes undone if you can't deliver.

I'll continue to brap in my skyline. I'll save all my styling to making on-point powerpoints which are fire.

the joy of IT.

not too long ago the car park at work had 11 spaces, and remember one day walking though seeing 32GTR 2 x S14, Lancer ralliart, evo 8MR

nowdays as we more sales that techie...all silver/black SUV's

    • My bad, I unplugged the one underlined in red instead of yellow before. With the car started, after unplugging the IACV (the one underlined in yellow), it idled at around 400/500 for 3 seconds before stalling. Attempting to start the car without the IACV will not start the car.   It does stutter and sputter for around 5 seconds before dying. However, immediately after starting it, you can already hear some slight sputters from the exhaust.   It won't start with the AFM unplugged. If it is when the car has already started, it stalls in a few seconds.   Yesterday, I did take some logs using Nistune of 3 scenarios. Car idling till it stalls Car idling and unplugging the IACV Car idling and removing the AFM I also have some previous logs of when the Car is idling till it stalls and when driving and it cuts. I am not really knowledgeable enough to understand what to look for. After every test, car idles rougher and rougher, until I have to stop. It will be fine the day after.
    • There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.
    • I thought the same to start with. But then I thought it was one of those LCAs where the end of the ARB goes through a bushing in the LCA itself, instead of having an end link.
    • Yeah - I mean, go the other way. Smaller range. Not larger.
    • To re-cap, I bought: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Lsailt-8G-Infiniti-Q50-Q60-2014_1601171829627.html?spm=a2756.trade-list-buyer.0.0.2cd476e9FTIlKE As you can see, if I bought 20 it was $653, but I bought 1 so it was $1,170. I was very tempted to buy 2 and resell 1 at 25% cheaper. @MBS206, I am not sure if they do a Kluger one, here is their list but it might be there under a global model name: http://www.lsailt.com/product/android-interface?page=1 Keep in mind these full android replacements have basically all the bits a phone does (cpu, ram, storage, wifi, bluetooth, usb interfaces) other than a screen (it uses a host), thus the $800+ cost. Android Auto screen mirroring is MUCH cheaper as it's just a cut down shell, input mirroring and output mirroring BTW I also need that "screen off" feature, it is much harder to see wildlife even if a dash is reasonably dark. Both the Fuga and V37 have display off buttons for night use, they just come back on for a second or 3 if you interact with it, eg skip a song.
