It might be too late to ask this, but do you guys think the EFR 6758 is too big for the RB26? I'm like neck-deep in the build now, so it's probably too late to turn around, but curious what you guys think. I got them super cheap so couldn't pass them up, so this is my life now.

I'd like to check out this build. There's gonna be some sick parts to support these little guys. Do you have a build thread somewhere?

I do not have a build thread. But I could certainly make one. I'm not doing the work myself, so some details/pictures might be lacking. Let me throw a thread together some time this week and I'll let you know.

looks good!  only question is regarding the intake tubes/filters - are they 3" ?  or 2.5"

I'm not sure. I can ask. Would it make a difference and if so, what should it be?

Ok - I prefer to see 3" as the smallest diameter for the inlet.

edit:  the 2.5" will work fine, but 3" can better avoid any surge with 7163s

These are 6758's, if it makes a difference.

I'm using the turbosmart twin port actuator (14psi springs 3 turns preload) with 5.4w 4 port Mac valve @20Hz  max d.c 60% for 1.6 bar boost @3800rpm. High and Low 3d boost maps on Link G4+

Had the EFR high boost canister but it is hopeless for good control and used to severely over-boost after 20 mins driving when WOT. It was about 20mm away from #1 runner so I extended the turbosmart actuator 50mm forward. Boost control is damn near perfect.

@Meathead did you have to cut some more thread on the arm of the turbosmart actuator? My IWG actuator hits on the body of the car and was thinking extending it in this fashion would work almost perfectly i think.

Is that the 'inconel' brand beanie? Did i already ask this or was it a diferent one? [emoji14]

Yeah I'm curious too. I have a genuine efr one to go on my 7163 and it's freakin huuuuuuge. Same beanie they fit on the 9180. One size fits.... Most

Hope so, mine just left Austin...

The 'Inconel' brand stuff kinda lost me at them trying to make it out like the inconel was what makes it insulate, and not that the inconcel is just the high temp protecting casing for whatever they use inside for insulation.
And also the prices
:8_laughing:

Buraz' car.

Went from a Precision 6262/0.84 to a 9180/1.05 on his Racepace built 2.8L.

"target boost" was the same RPM - 4700 RPM, however the 9180 feels much stronger sub 3500 RPM. (Yes, the bigger turbo with the bigger ass end felt stronger down low). That falls in line with a couple other 2.8/9180 results that have come through lately.

6262 made 430 rwkw at 24 psi

9180 made 483 rwkw at 24 psi and 498 rwkw at 27 psi so possibly needs a larger exhaust. It's only a 3.5 inch RP item.

* Adnan loves to rape this thing so the tune is softer than most.

Once again, the transient response is the stand out. The stuff that can't be shown on the dyno.

    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
