No, I've been in a M4 and was driven in anger and I was impressed it was 100% stock.

The R33 doesn't spark joy anymore. Just sparks anxiety, defect anxiety, attracting randoms stopping in the of my house asking if it's for sale.

I want a fast boring looking car that kind of blends in.

Well……. After speaking about it for what, 10 years? Just do it!

If you don’t enjoy it, move it on.

surely you get sick of typing the same thing? 🤷‍♂️

Need someone that's equally as mentally retarded as I to buy my R33 for a reasonable amount.

Not go, oh I'm broke here's $20k

I interest you in a LS swapped R34 Sedan? I assure you it is boring as hell

Lol .. I doubt a R34 with a LS is boring and not to mention won't blend in very well.

You would have been in front if you did it “back then” than if you did this last round of shit to it 🤣

Yeah one would refer to me as autistic lol.

I assure you it is utterly invisible to all things, car enthusiasts, police, random onlookers, it may as well be a camry, there's been 3 track days where a photographer has gone and taken shots of every single entrant except my car... different photographers too.. I assure you it is invisible lol.

That said - It won't provide whatever it is you like about a M3 but you really really really must drive whatever you want to buy in anger in the hills or at the track first. It needs to spark joy, please don't make decisions based on what you think will provide joy until you do it. So many people have sold their R chassis or S chassis and bought something then gone "ah f**k"

The F82 M4 is technically extremely competent. It's also kind of emotionally dead and somehow sounds absolutely horrible with the stock exhaust. To me that car exemplifies the fact that we don't drive spec sheets, there are a ton of little details that affect the experience.

So you're finally considering selling that carrot turbo setup Dr Dose?

I want to sell the entire car actually 😂

But will go track it a few times and hit the drag strip before that happens.

In other news, espresso machine broke again, this time the pump failed.

Ordered a new one and Sendle the pricks took 2 weeks to get it from WA to NSW. Meanwhile I ordered a phone for my mum from Amazon UK and it came in 4 days!

Been drinking a mix of cold drip, instant coffee (yuck) and the local cafe for the past 2 weeks. So good to get proper coffee going again!

At the same time I did all the temp probe and boiler hose seals. Lucky I did too, because they were all brittle when I removed the original seals.

Overall, pretty solid machine. We've had it for 7 years and on average before covid we would pull 4x shots a day, now as my wife and I predominantly work from home it's seeing on average 6 to 10 shots a day (higher end when the in laws come over to look after our son). Previously the 3x way water solenoid died but that seems to be a common issue with these Breville Dual Boilers.

Pretty happy with this espresso machine, the volumetric and PID controlled boiler always gives me consistent extraction.

How good is coffee.
I can't do instant at home only when camping sometimes if I didn't take enough ground stuff.
I have the newer model of that machine probably due to do some maintenance after 3 years.

So when you heading to Wakefield?

Afterwards get a for sale ad up with the whole story, some kid will throw BMW money at you and you can enjoy what you have been wanting.

@robbo_rb180 totally agree with you there, instant coffee is comparable to a well done steak. It's just dreadful!

For the money these machines are packed with value and it's making coffees that are actually better than my local cafe! However I suppose that also depends on the bean choice and the grind size.

Good question, I'm not too sure either. I really need to get off my arse and tune the car too. No joke, I've driven it 5 times since I've gotten it back from fabrication. Been so busy being a dad, and work just barely have time to be a child myself lol.

I'm aiming to work on the tune in the next month or so 😊

And great idea, should properly document the car and do a proper feature video on it. Might fetch the kind of money that makes moving to a M3 even easier lol

I like any coffee with caffeine in it

Moccona classic at home, Nescafe at work because free, and I rarely purchase coffee from a shop

Get your tune on, then sell car for drug money before you kill it again

Advertise as one owner, R33 GTST+(plus), never taken out in the rain, never raced, always serviced at Nismo Australia, and garaged in a hermetically sealed cotton wool cocoon.

Don't forget to wind back the clock to something believable, like 21,080 km

I legit think you should sell/buy/swap for an A90.

Do as I say and all will be fine.

I'm quite set on a 4 door car, easier to move the family around than a 2 door, seater car. M2 "could" work but 4 doors would make life easier.

LOL... I'm sure the dash has been wound back by Edward Lees, the previous 10x owners (previous owner I recall said he was the 2nd owner in Australia).

I drove a M3 Comp sedan and was gobsmacked as to how anyone could refer to it as an enthusiast car.

I feel like this needs some kind of gofundme campaign. Get enough funds together to rent an M3 for 2 weeks so that you can get a proper feel for what it is like to own one.

I would hate for you to sell your shitbox to then realise that BMWs are worse. Because at the end of the day your shitbox is unique. But if you do the 2 weeks renting and still think BMW is the way to go, then by all means do it.

When out next try rat pack coffee x2, 1 sugar, half tube sweetened condensed into a water bottle before bed and leave out over night when cold makes good iced coffee.

I drove an m3 last year on track and it was great to drive but did lack character and after driving the a90 for a day, it was alright but it was also modified (MCA reds, Ns2r, dump pipe & tune) again lacked that bit of character. Driving the 90s Japanese stuff is fun they aren't perfect but drive well and make all the right noises.
He needs both the r33 & bmw 😁

well.... that would be ideal, however having only a double garage, no backyard and no space for a shed means can't have 2x toys :(

Not sure who/how I can rent a M3 and allow to drive it how I drive all my cars - however that could be a way to properly experience it :D

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
    • I haven’t yet cut the chassis, maybe I switch to a reverse flow. I’ve got the Intercooler mounted as I already had it but not cut yet. Might have to speak to an engineer
    • Yes that’s another issue, I always have a front mount, plus will be turbo plus intake will big hasstle. I’ve been told if it looks stock they’re fine with it by a couple others who have done it ahahaha.    I know @Kinkstaah said the stock gtt airbox is limiting but I might just have to do that to avoid a defect so it atleast looks legit. Or an enclosed pod so it’s hidden away and feed air from the snorkel and below Intercooler holes like kinstaah mentioned. Hmm what to do
