  1. I've seen (and done) old cast iron blocks welded up before and it can be done . . . . however . . . if you really want to save it then you should get the block crack tested before you start. As GTSBoy states no point in welding up the hole if there is structural cracking in the surrounding areas. As to welding you will have to find the best cast iron welding rods (or wire) that are as close to the parent metal in the block. Then find yourself a specialist cast iron welder You will also have to heat the entire block up to a very high temp over a long period of time and hold the temp there while it is being welded. Then you will need to bring the temp of the block down very slowly to avoid cracking. One method I have used for this is using heated sand, which you place the block in and let it cool over a day or so back down to ambient temperature. Another method is to braze the broken piece back into place. This is a specialist welding method also and will again require the above heating/cooling method.
  2. Oh look I found one of the center pieces I made donkeys years ago ! Thought it was around somewhere !
  3. Get one and make it fit ! I did . . . out of several different models to get it to work. Nissan switching, American made cruse control for the electrics and Nissan clock spring to suit ! Easy !
  4. From the United State of America:
  5. What like I used to do ? Like make exact reproduction parts for Skylines ? Developed with better plastics that would never wear out ? Like gear knobs And discontinued wheel caps Vents / hand brake handles / and other high wear parts for Skylines ! Which I've still got all the development processes and molds for ! Nah what for ?
  6. Yup Ive noticed ! You might wanna check out the price of a front drivers side inner guard liner for a R33 GTR ! Best you be sitting down when you do so !
  7. And for $250 they are a friggen bargain ! I'll take a punt and say USA ? If so its $178USD ! Double bargain because its a bolt up, no stuffing about trying to make it fit.
  8. Pivot ball OK? Checked the clutch pedal box ? ( they are notorious for the spot welds breaking apart. Especially with high load pressure plates)
  9. $750 each ? Or a pair either way I think I'm going to get back into and start up and injection molding business for Nissan parts ! ABS will do the job fine
  10. Genuine Nissan ones ? Made of fiberglass reinforced nylon ? Most reproductions are fiberglass ones !
  11. I know nothing about LM 2/3/4 center caps ! ! ! ( search search search ) . . . . . But if you get stuck the and you still want to go with that style of cap then the alloy outer body could easily be spun up on a lathe. The center section looks like an insert and could be molded up in various plastics or resins to suit
  12. Best to check if they are still available new before you let anyone take them out because if they break your stuffed I believe they are discontinued and only reproduction ones are available.
  13. Welcome to SAU Justin. There's a wealth of info here on this site with the Tutorials section probably being a good place to start when you get stuck. Also the search function will help as well but you will probably have to do a fair bit of digging as again there is masses info here. Failing that there are the SAU enthusiasts here as well who all have the brains the sizes of planets when it comes to the subject of Skylines. Post up some pics of your R33 so we can see our new ride
  14. I just screamed "IN COMING" and hit the deck and shimmied on my elbows away to cover ! !
  15. Yep here's the finished result but not a very close up pic:
  16. Noooooo . . . . Dont vinyl wrap the dash fascia ! Do it properly. Take off the dash fascia and strip off all the vents, switches, buttons etc etc. Take a scouring pad and scrub off the factory spray on vinyl. This is a bastard of a time consuming job to get it all off from all nooks and crannies but worth the effort. Sand everything smooth with a fine wet and dry sand paper. Get a small can of clear plastic primer to coat it and then get a can of matt or satin black enamel and paint it.( I used engine paint for a super hard finish) I gave mine one coat and then a second coat holding the spray can back further than normal to give it a coarse, very fine sand blasted effect. Worth the effort in the end
  17. And here's another thing that's driving the prices up : "CAN SHIP TO USA OR UK AND CLEAR CUSTOMS ADDITIONAL COSTS NOT INCLUDED" God bless America !
  18. Wait ! What ? Are you telling me my R33 is now worth the 18K paid for it . . . .15 or 16 years ago ? ? ! ! Yay ! That's friggen legendary !
  19. Yep frigged around with this system back in 2009 and posted what I was going to do in the A-LSD section. Worked very well in the end but I have to agree with the vast majority for the amount of effort to get it to work it would be better to get rid of it.
  20. Well done on that front bar ! You'll have to eventually fill in the cut outs where that center cross bar used to be as it will a flex point when you hit those over sized speed humps and parking bollards local councils put in. I to start practicing your plastic welding skills via YouTube on the interweb ! ! !
  21. THIS: Factory R33 DIN pocket ( Copied from an earlier SAU image )
  22. "Loose drivers switch" part of the button has broken away on the inside button itself. This holds a small white plastic spring loaded pin. Pop the button of carefully, after taking the unit out, and look for the broken plastic bits, clean out the lubrication grease with ethanol and super glue ( I believe it called crazy glue in the US ) back together. Bit of a fiddly job and you may have to put a small piece of supporting plastic in to stop it breaking off again . . . . or you can buy a whole new unit for a gozillion dollars !
  23. Hmmmmm . . . . check the drivers side door window control unit. Some one may have replaced it with a later model one out of a series 2 and fiddled with the electrical wiring to get it to work. From memory a Series 1 has a 9 pin plug and a Series 2 a 11 pin plug . . . or was it vice versa ? ? ( oh my Oldtimers disease is at maximum at the moment ! ) I'm sure some one on here can confirm that.
  24. Get sequential, install it and then drive kids to council pool/beach/river/pond/billabong in it ! Win ! Win !
  25. Have you checked everything on the rack ? Like the mounting bushes ? hint hint (search) ! Rack ends ? As GTSBoy stated get underneath while its on stands and get a friend to turn the rack back and forth, lock to lock, and see if there is anything unusual.
