They f**ked. Just from a 2s visual. Rubbed through all over the place.

There is a breather system, via the charcoal canister in the engine bay, to a vacuum source on the inlet manifold. This is an emmission control to prevent fuel vapours escaping to atmosphere. They are caught in thee charcoal canister and burnt off when the engine is running. This system should be plumbed up properly and working because it doesn't hurt anything and is good for the environment. If it is not plumbed up and working properly, then it could cause all sorts of odd behaviours. But I would be very surprised if it could interfere with starting. A pressurised tank would not make it hard to start. Should make it easier to prime the fuel rail, if anything. If it is pressurised, then that could just be from warm fuel, but, if some numpty has plumbed it up wrong, it could be boost, which would be bad, and bad. You could pop the tank in the most extreme outcome imaginable.

Whilst it's quite unlikely that you won't have interference problems with those cams, you may well be the first person to try doing this specific thing. So the risk falls upon you. The only possible concern would be that the hi comp pistons will offer a little less clearance. But it's not as if the lift or duration are particularly excessive, and 10+mm lift with >280° duration, plus dialling in back and forth, is known to work in DETs..... it seems you should be OK.

Possibly about $3k at a crash shop.

R33 RB25 Front engine noise
GTSBoy replied to ryanr2500's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Don't f**king start. Measuring pressure by the height of a column of liquid is even f**king worse!! -
Proper in Australia? Carbonetics. Pretty dear though. Otherwise, there are numerous available on eBay, Aliexpress, etc. Also, here's the rubbers https://justjap.com/collections/bnr32/products/nissan-rear-boot-lid-wing-spoiler-inner-mounting-seal-right-side-nissan-skyline-r32-gtr

R33 RB25 Front engine noise
GTSBoy replied to ryanr2500's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
It's not metric. It is a bullshit unit. The unit of force is Newtons, not kg. The kg is a unit of mass. It is not even a unit of weight, because technically there is no such thing as a unit of weight. Weight is force, and the force depends on the acceleration or the local gravitational field. So, here on the surface of Earth, where the local gravity is about 9.807 m/s^2, the force created by a resting 1kg of mass is 9.807 N. If you express that as kg of "weight", what you are saying is kg.f (meaning "kilograms force"), which as I said before, is meaningless. Because on Mars, the force you'd get from 1kg of mass is about 1/3 of what is here. On the Moon, about 1/6, and on Jupiter it's like 2.5x as much or something. The next bit of bullshit is the use of centimeters. Builders use mm. Engineers and scientists use metres. Only dressmakers use cm. And no-one should use square centimetres for anything. The only acceptable units of pressure are those that are mutliples of Pascals, or those that are understood to be exactly equivalent to a multiple of Pa. 1 Newton per square metre. Lovely. Anyone caught using N/mm^2 should have their thumbs pulled off. That's an MPa. So, the use of a bullshit unit of force divided by a bullshit unit of area, to produce a bullshit unit of pressure that is close to but not actually numerically the same as a quite reasonably good near SI unit of pressure (the bar, being 100 kPa) is bullshit. I only use psi and inches and feet and atmospheres and cubic furlongs because those are the standard bullshit units used by a disturbingly large fraction of the population and you simply cannot break the inertia. But there is no reason to go along with a double bullshit unit like kg/cm^2. -
R33 RB25 Front engine noise

Are there any other pressure gauges in the world that use the stupid f**king units of kg/cm^2 ? -
Cosmic rays. Or maybe meteorite damage. It's definitely not aliens.

MLR's Bogan cruise ship
GTSBoy replied to The Bogan's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
My daughter hit a roo in our brand new RAV on about her 2nd drive on Ls with the whole family on board. You can imagine the hysteria. Roo was severely damaged and needed to be put down. The RAV's bumper bounced back as if nothing ever happened except one little rib in the lower section. Toyots are good with roos, apparently. -
Three options for an impact caused change of toe in the same direction on both sides; Bent tie rod. Less likely because of even change on both sides, but possible. Steering rack moved on its mounts towards one side. Crossmember moved on its chassis mounts to one side. Less likely than the steering rack, because it is more heavily attached to the chassis (than the rack is to the crossmember), and also, the rack would move with the crossmember, so probably wouldn't turn up as the change you've seen. It is not impossible to actually move the crossmember though. I had an incident in my car with a gutter that did just that. So, yes, likely that rack bushes are in a bad way, because even if they weren't before, they would have to have suffered to permit the rack to move - unless bolts have bent.

It's all guesswork, but you'd have to expect that you should be able to use 20 psi on 98 without problems, given the nature of your build. And I think achieving 700whp shouldn't be too hard. Should be trivial. I mean, hell.....20 years ago I was peripherally involved in a JZA80 that easily made 900whp on much older turbo hardware, on 98. It was a "HKS" engine, which really just meant forgies and big cams, and still 3L.

Nismo sell the same snake oil that HKS et al do, just in a more fanboi friendly box.

Hoping for input on R34 GTT coilovers
GTSBoy replied to stukinthe90s's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
A fully compressed helper spring is not the problem. The only reason a helper spring is installed is to prevent the very short main spring from becoming loose when running at higher ride heights (and/or in some droop conditions). They will just be the typical rock hard Jap springs & dampers. You could try different springs in them. That's easy with coilovers. Although the dampers might be a bit firm still (for softer springs). The smart approach would be to get some MCA or Shockworks coilovers to suit your usage model. -
Brand new RB25 big box notchy shifting
GTSBoy replied to elohim_imanu's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
They're called the big box because they are physically twice the size of the little box. -
That's a GTR spoiler. The bolt holes are in the same place.

Clutch Master, Slave,Hose

If you're buying a braided hose, then all the hard pipe, including the damper loop, goes in the bin. Fit it up, bleed it up. Be clean. -
Toyota Echo/Yaris Coil pack conversion for RB25DET

I'm pretty sure you can't either. Got a stock ECU lying around? -
Toyota Echo/Yaris Coil pack conversion for RB25DET
GTSBoy replied to iMick's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
You need to change the dwell. Nistune the ECU. You're missing out on free power if you don't anyway. -
Like 99% of SAU members, I am from Australia. We've been importing these cars from Japan since the mid 90s and we all know that these cars have routinely had their mileage wound back since the very beginning of the trade. it is quite literally an article of faith in the trade. I would sooner believe in the tooth fairy than in a genuine low mileage ex-Japan Nissan import.

It's not worth the pain to try to advertise and sell to a Yank, then participate in arranging the shipping and packing, etc, just for the few bucks. If it was a unicorn spec GTR or a fancy Porsche or something, then all of that becomes insignificant compared to the potential reward. But not for a taxi spec Skyline.
-
You mean genuinely wound back whilst still in Japan, right? The last time any 20+ year old Nissan still had 60k on it was, well, about 20+ years ago.

These are not the same thing.
