Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. /litany

Technically illegal to do anything with wires, even comms cabling that will never see a phone system. But if my house ever burns down they will know that a contracting electrician didn't do all the wiring in my house, because some of it is done properly. Guess which bits done by who are done properly. You don't find many catenaries, proper strain relief loops, required separation between 230VAC and control/comms wiring in any house not owned by an engineer.

Installed ~2011. SA govco tariff was massive. Used to be 56c IIRC. Went down (to ~45c) a few years ago, then went back up to ~50c. System cost ~$12k after something like 10k of rebates. Paid off in <5 years. Making cream since. But, the negative side is that I could fit something like 50% more panel capacity on the roof with new panels but can't change them without losing the tariff. So I have to keep thinking about whether it is time to dump the old panels for new with more generation and live with the lower per unit tariff. Same with batteries, etc etc. Not that I think batteries are actually a good economic decision anyway. But maybe they'll get there.

Ah. The world of front loaders. I don't have 2+hrs for each load. I don't care if top loaders use more water and make more noise. I can repair them myself when they go bunk (as opposed to the $3000/month service bill for an Asko! :p ) and can get a decent load done in <60 minutes.

What the hell has the oil change interval got to do with anything?

There is no such kit. Choose a power output that you're after. Choose a turbo to suit. Choose a manifold that works with that turbo. Get a dump pipe fabricated because there quite probably isn't an off the shelf dump to suit that turbo in that car. Choose an ECU that your local tuner knows how to tune. Get bigger injectors, fuel pump, intercooler. Upgrade clutch. That's how we do it.

You got the wiring diagrams for the 2 cars? All you want to do is connect a wire that runs to your foglight to the foglight output on the switch. I have no idea whether that circuit is supposed to be switched on the earth side or on the power side on the GTR. Most things on most cars are switched on the earth side, but lighting is quite frequently switched on the power side. If the highbeam wiring/terminals are different between the GT-T and the GTR, then you definitely need the wiring diagrams and/or reasonable electrical diagnosis/probing skill to be able to work out where the highbeam power/switching is supposed to be on each switch.

This would be done by joining wire A to wire B. Probably have to disconnect wire A from it's existing connection to wire C first.

Buy eliminator kit and install. Job done.

Rebuild ~half the price.

Take the bumper to a crash repairer or a plastic welder (the sort that the crash repairer would use if they don't have their own guy) to stitch a little plastic into the hole and sand it back.

Does anyone have left hand drive?
GTSBoy replied to bahadir korkmaz's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
The joke was funny for the specific reason it was created for. Overall though, at the time Turkey wasn't that bad. It was actually a nice place with nice people. But now, Erdogan is making it into an corrupt fundamentalist Islamic hell hole. So the joke is now sadly closer to reality than it ever was. -
Engine was running rough, but now just rich. Can't find a problem....
GTSBoy replied to BennyT's topic in General Maintenance
Won't be this. Under cruise, that is a vacuum leak, leading to lean operation, not rich. Only goes rich on boost, when you lose the air outwards. The presence of an FCON is not a trivial thing here. I would take it to the most suitable mechanic, put it on the dyno and see WTF is going on. Internet diagnosis of this sort is not going to lead to anything except 10 suggestions for things it won't be followed by as surprise announcement from you that you found a family of frogs living in the cat converter and once they were moved on the problem went away. -
Does anyone have left hand drive?
GTSBoy replied to bahadir korkmaz's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
I wondered how this would play out when I started reading the thread. There is still one sphincter in one of his posts. Merhaba Bahadir. nasılsınız? Sorry I can't offer good suggestions for the transmission. I hate autos and I'm usually happy to see them die. There are manuals around for them on-line, so keep digging. Hopefully someone here can point you towards one. -
O2 sensor plug front vs rear r34 gtr
GTSBoy replied to syd_gtr's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Is it the case that either loom plug can reach to either sensor without looking overly stretched, etc? Surely there's one physical configuration that looks natural and one that looks less natural. If you put it all together and run it, you could probably find out directly if you have ECUTalk by pulling #2 injector plug or coil plug while running and look to see which sensor reacts. Whichever sensor reacts is the front one. If the ECU thinks it's the rear one, just swap. -

This is a searchable topic. There are thousands of words of information on this site. Have a dig. -
R32 GTS T advice on rims and tyres please.
GTSBoy replied to undertoe's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
225/50 is stock 32 GTR size. Are you ragging on Teh GTR??!!!?? -
There's no such thing as lag from a slightly bigger cooler core. The internal volume is approximately 3/5 of f**k all.

rb25det Replacement turbo for RB25DET
GTSBoy replied to Spokig's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Should have said so before. All our warnings and information about not going too big on the turbo can be ignored. A bigger turbo would be fine. Probably better to spend a bit more on something new rather than a stock ceramic time bomb. -
Important parts underlined. The 180° bends involved in these things are certainly restrictive (compared to having the pipe come straight out). It's not a killer amount of extra restriction, but it is there. Some of them are pretty ugly designes, some a bit better. The fact that such return flow coolers cannot be as tall as a straight through, because the return pipe runs under the core (where there could be and is more core in straight throughs) means that the flow area through the core is that much smaller. That also definitely causes the flow limit of the return flows to be lower. That part is actually simple to work out. If you only get 85% of the height, you can presume that its max power capacity would be only 85% also. Core thickness and tube design, plus differences in tank design etc notwithstanding of course.

Gearbox Oil - Redline lightweight or heavyweight?
GTSBoy replied to ossy's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I have nearly 10 years of Redline lightweight in mine. It's fine - for a gearbox that wouldn't change gears at all with normal gear oil when we first installed it.
