  1. LSV stopped doing Imports for a while, but then started again recently. However their premium for me, was well over $300 higher than Shannons and their agreed value was a problem - which for me was the mitigating factor as it was significantly lower. Also one thing to consider, which isn't always a factor for some... Choice of repairer. This for me is the deal breaker in almost every instance. Having recently made a claim through Shannons, I was shocked at how straight forward the process was vs other companies who require multi-quotes, using their "preferred" workshops and so on. End of the day it pays to shop around. Get a quote from one place, then call back the other - good old price war will eventually see you with a better deal
  2. Doesn't look like true twin scroll/twin gate? Having a single gate with a twin feed will still not be a "true" setup when the gates are not independantly controlling.
  3. And what does that tell you? Given it's pretty much what i said on page one, just a shorter version (handling/learning to drive first - then power - works out cheaper in the long run).
  4. That's why you buy decent suspension and not $1000 cheap rubbish stuff... So that it doesn't do that End of the day as i said, a 240rwkw well setup car will be faster in every scenario (other than 1/4 mile drag endeavours) than a 300rwkw floating boat with stock everything else.
  5. Yeah but for one model of engine? That really wont be more than 1% of sales for the $$$ in development... As it'd need more than just adapting a housing (aka buchtered GT3076s into RB25 housings that don't work... or AVO/Sonic housings) Like Shell V-Power racing, just not viable from a business model. And realistically if you are chasing 500rwkw+ which they provide - you are hardly looking at bolt-on approaches or setups.
  6. ECU's are the same. Diff is controlled separately, signals sent to it should not be affected by the ECU used. It should not be affected, if it is - you have other issues. Hence a PowerFC for a BNCR33 & BNCR32 have the same part number irrespective of what variant model they are. I used one with A-LSD, no issue. I then swapped to a non-vspec rear end - again no issues.
  7. Why don't you just go with the proven stock GTR setup? You know it's good... Not really sure why you wouldn't then use it.
  8. Well potentially yes - not that you will, but lumping on 140rwkw+ extra power and big top end... It's quite a bit step in a well complemented setup, let alone one that around it is otherwise stock. If you've not driven a 300rwkw well setup car before, I'd urge you to do so first. Unless you are interested in 1/4mile racing only, you really need to spend a bit of coin in the other areas as well - or at least plan to shortly there after. Too many inexperienced people get into high powered cars because lets face it - 300rwkw is fairly cheap to do in terms of making the power. However making the power work for you is another story. A 240rwkw well setup car, would be much much faster and entertaining comparatively speaking. Depends what you want.
  9. full service and all fluids changed at a minimum (gearbox, diff, P/S etc) radiator clutch diff tyres brakes suspension no point having 300rwkw if you cant; 1. turn corners with that power 2. stop the car with that power IMO you really are going about it the wrong way. Handling and learning how to drive comes first, then comes the power. Things like a decent diff and suspension setup make so much difference it's hard to gauge "just how much" because it's more than just a number on a piece of paper. And all the stock shit is realistically rubbish stock... so add another 140rwkw or so, just asking for trouble.
  10. Read the linked thread Daz, with all the GTX info.
  11. Yes brand names do make a difference... One of the 3 you've mentioned has had many issues far and above what you'd call "normal". Have a google - you'll soon work out which. Each have it's pro's and cons. Different gear ratio options and so on. I'd suggest you do some research here on SAU and again, more google. There is more then enough information on this very forum alone to give you plenty to think about.
  12. Given how much material a lot of cars have had cut out, and some don't have overtly elaborate cages or setups like some of the things you are talking about... Kinda hope that doesn't happen as stuff will not end well for those concerned.
  13. lol at least it's comparative if it's on the same dyno Anyway results are in the GTX286X thread: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/384897-new-garrett-gtx2860r-2863r-2867r/
  14. lol increase because of hail damage? That's what insurance is FOR in the first place. You don't just then go and up costs because of it, that's a joke. Insurance companies using that as justification for a rise just means call another company... I've had no such increase with Shannons.
  15. And the fact it simply isn't a big money maker. They make more out of normal petrol... Also there is only really one Ethanol provider in Aus (there are two, but one took a big hit during the QLD floods etc). So no way Shell/BP are going to let their business pricing and model be dictated by a single other entity. They've said this for a few years, and don't expect it to change anytime soon.
  16. Hi. It is a known bug/issue since the forum update. Please read the two sticky threads in this very section for updates and further details. Thanks.
  17. Yep. And with that, closed.
  18. Nope... Selling it now.
  19. Plenty have gone over 350rwkw on the stock item. Hit the search function, lots of threads about it, and the dyno threads are also a good place to look.
  20. If the silencer is not welded in (and no, 2 spot welds do not count), then it is unlikely it will pass as it is illegal still. That said, what they cannot see, cannot be penalised
  21. Picture quality certainly looks much better as do the colours. To be expect from a IPS panel though. Looks the goods! Now... give it a couple months
  22. It's a sticky, hardly a dig
  23. This is still there for people to use guys
