Small update.

Not sure what the issue is, combination of cam timing too far and something else we are yet to find.

Lots of torque, great to drive, but clearly falling over very quickly.

Easy fix- all in the cam timing ;)

Now running 20psi, plenty left in it. This is beautiful to drive on the street. this with a 200cell cat in place too!

results are in.

Blue us RB30 orange is rb25. full comparison and nothing else has changed except the bottom end.

turbo is 3076 56t with 0.63 rear... falls over pretty hard and adding more boost doesnt increase it.. so rear is a restriction thats for sure. Need a .82 rear for it.

Flat top CP pistons

Forged Precision H beam rods

Polished standard size RB30 crank

Stock 25 oil pump, 1.5mm restrictor, wide op drive

Stock 25 vvt head, removed ex humps and intake cleaned up. No vvt.

50mm Turbosmart wg with 17psi springs plumbed into front pipe near cat

GT3582r

3 inch front pipe, gutted stock cat, kakemoto catback.

Stock recirc valve with grub screw

910cc at 3 bar JECS sidefeed inj in stock rail with stock reg

Walbro intank

Haltech e11v2

HKS twin plate clutch

Made 400rwhp (298rwkw) at 19 psi and 415rwhp (309rwkw) at 22 psi. Made 400rwhp by 4800rpm. Didn't bother turning it up more due to the stock head internals and restrictive air filter and exhaust. Full boost at about 3500rpm.

The air filter was almost sucking itself inside out. The cat and catback are probably a restriction too but in saying that the car is very quiet.

It is what it is. I'm not happy yet so better results yet to come ;)

Wiseco pistons

Steel rods

crank collar fitted/crank balanced

Tomei head gasket

ARP RB25 head studs

stock head

stock (machined) exhaust manifolds

1st round, about 1.2 bar, R34 elbows, greddy downpipe, R34 stock catalic converter, 3" Fujitsubo catback (60mm backbox inner diameter):

kittydyno1.jpg

2nd run, about 1.3bar boost, exhaust changed to a 3.5" one that came off an MK4, but still with some 3" restrictions, downpipe modded to fit a 100cpi catalic converter (boost reading on printout is wrong, measured at wastegates):

kittydyno2.jpg

3rd run, still on HKS GT2530´s, but now with about 1.35 bar boost and fully custom 3" elbows + downpipe:

kittydyno3.jpg

Now with different custom intake piping and GTX2860R´s on about 1.7-1.8 bar boost (and obviously a bit less ignition and not yet optimised A/F ratios) - we usually ran the car at 1.5 bar, just tried it once on the dyno with more boost (and were disappointed by all the results that day):

So, car finally got mapped but it looks like stock fuel lines give too much backpressure - so 1.7 bar was the save limit before mixture leaned out, which disappointed me a bit.

We still could get much more power out of the car, by adding about 10 degree of ignition timing - no wonder we made such poor results the last time ;-)

Nissan Stagea 1996 AWD

Stock RB30 block apart from new rings, bearings, big end bolts, Tomei sump baffle kit and N1 oil pump. Stock R33 head cleaned up, VCT connected, Tomei head gasket and adjustable ex cam gear. Sinco Customs exhaust manifold, GT3540R turbo with .63 ex, Synapse 50mm W/G, Venom 5in 100 cell cat, 3in exhaust with straight through resonator and cannon. Hybrid FMIC, Greddy copy FFP, HKS Sequential BOV, Deatschwerks 550 injectors, stock throttle body, fpr and rail. Walbro in tank fuel pump and Bosch 044 from surge tank. Link G4 ecu. 98 Pump gas.

Plan to install some better plugs, fine tune W/G and retune for a few more KW but will probably leave it at that as I don't want to push too hard on a stock unbalanced bottom end.

    • Slimline sub on the rear parcel shelf is doable. Pioneer TS-WX140DA is only 70mm high.
    • People like Johnny Dose Bro might be laughing at my post because I accidentally added 100mm to my numbers. 350-355 is indeed the lower limit. 450 is off-road Skyline spec.
    • What is the "compromise" that you think will happen? Are you thinking that something will get damaged? The only things you have to be concerned about with spherical jointed suspension arms are; Arguments with the constabulary wrt their legality (they are likely to be illegal for road use without an engineering certificatation, and that may not be possible to obtain). A lot more NVH transmitted through to the passengers (which is hardly a concern for those with a preference for good handling, anyway). Greatly increased inspection and maintenance requirements (see above points, both).   It is extremely necessary to ask what car you are talking about. Your discussion on strut tops, for example, would be completely wrong for an R chassis, but be correct for an S chassis. R32s have specific problems that R33/4 do not have. Etc. I have hardened rubber bushes on upper rear control arms and traction rods. Adjustable length so as to be able to set both camber and bump steer. You cannot contemplate doing just the control arms and not the traction arms. And whatever bushing you have in one you should have in the other so that they have similar characteristics. Otherwise you can get increased oddness of behaviour as one bushing flexes and the other doesn't, changing the alignment between them. I have stock lower rear arms with urethane bushes. I may make changes here, these are are driven by the R32's geometry problems, so I won't discuss them here unless it proves necessary. I have spherical joints in the front caster rods. I have experienced absolutely no negatives and only positives from doing so. They are massively better than any other option. I have sphericals in the FUCAs, but this is driven largely by the (again) R32 specific problems with the motion of those arms. I just have to deal with the increased maintenance required. Given how much better the front end behaves with the sphericals in there.....I'd probably be tempted to go away from my preference (which is not to have sphericals on a road car, for 2 of the 3 reasons in the bulleted list above), just to gain those improvements. And so my preference for not using sphericals (in general) on a road car should be obvious. I use them judiciously, though, as required to solve particular problems.
    • Easiest way to know is to break out the multimeter and measure it when cold, then measure all the resistances again once it gets hot enough to misfire. Both the original ignitor and the J Replace version. Factory service manual will have the spec for the terminal measurements.
    • Yes that sounds right. Cars currently in the shop for the engine work. Will need to remeasure .. but yes I think I must be targeting 45cm from fender.
