Also want to shout out a special thanks to the person who did the 3-2-1 count down during the untimed battles (3:30pm-4:30pm)

As everyone else was packing up you were still out there till the very end for the select few who didnt want to get off the skidpan haha :D

This was simply the best part of the day for me...constantly queuing up to take on anyone and everyone! It was only then that I started performing properly on the skidpan. Then when I saw the last guy (the trailer driven R32) not trying I said bugger it and joined him in skidpan stunts lol. Feels good to let loose in a safe and legal environment!

Fantastic work organisers, sponsors and volunteers...I'm certain the November spots will fill up very fast.

Big thanks to everyone for their help running the day. it ran very smoothly and Ryan good work mate..

It was tops to get out in the car again and have some fun... i Hadn't driven the car in almost 12 months so was a shock to the system...

Great to hear that everyone had a good time, thats what these days are all about...

It has been said alot but it is definatly deserved, Thanks to the volunteers that helped us out..

Special thanks to Tim and Campbell on the skid pan ALL DAY.. I don't know how you had a voice at the end of the day after yelling 3-2-1-GO

On a personal note, It was great to get back out and give the Corona a hard time...

I am really happy with how it is going, all my small changes to the front suspension as well as being back up to a lazy 212rwkw's has made it a really fun car....

I had a absolute ball in it... Love the limiter!!! :D

Unfortunately I was knocked out in the arvo after my tailshaft buggered up, which also meant i couldn't drive it home :(

So sunday afternoon was spent getting a lift home from Shep, getting my Patrol and heading back up to Shep with trailer in tow. Loaded the car up and got back to Melb around 9pm..

7.5 hours of driving in one day FTL... especially if it doens't really take you anywhere....

Look forward to seeing everyone up at the next one in November....

Oh yeah.. GET THOSE PICS AND VIDS UP!!!!!!

Bigbird is putting together photos for the meeting tonight. hopefully we can get the damn thing to play...

As for the day itself what did people prefer for the morning layout? obviously you need to have done more than 1 deca to comment :D It wont be too long until we are organising the next deca so we need to decide what to do... there seems to be good reports coming in about the new layout but would you prefer to do it the old way or new way next time??? Also, how did people find the maps? easy? hard?

I didn't drive the last one but I was a passenger all day and drove for this one and I think the layout was good plus we ended up with heaps of time at the end of the day for battles and that was after the incidents of the morning session.

My only suggestion would be more Long Wang time if possible but I might be alone on that one as everyone else seemed to love the skidpan battles.

As for the maps, I think the amount of people who got 'lost' would imply that the maps might have been a touch complicated, but I had no issues with them personally. However, I'm also training up Kate as my navigator so she did a great job keeping me headed in the right direction which helps a lot.

As I've said, I liked the new layout Ryan and with 3 runs it would be even better. It had a really good flow to it and you stayed in the car for a while before a rest on the back track. Thumbs up from me

As for the difficulty of the maps, I thought they were about right considering there was no practice run. You're always going to get a lot of wrong directions out there regardless and I thought they were probably a bit easier to learn than some past ones.

I'd love 3 runs on the back track for sure but I'm all for democracy so whatever the majority of people want is fine with me.

I would like more time out there as well! But whatever... with the new layout, we get more time somewhere and it don't really matter where as long as it's somewhere!

Now if I've done this right everyone should be able to see these pics regardless of if you are on Facebook.

If I haven't then I'm sure someone will tell me.

Yeah it worked mate, just went on a mass tagging spree. I honestly don't remember half those photos from the Taco joint.

To be fair you do look a little 'refreshed' in some of those pics...

Those bloody fishbowls were more potent than they tasted! Although my last mouthful was 90% soggy popcorn, which quickly sent me running for the toilet.

New format rocked!

3 runs at the morning stuff FTW! 3 times at Long wang would be awesome.

Knock out was fun. Maybe 2 lots of knock out coz it doesn't take that long. Maybe 1 of each of the battles.

Maps were on par with any other deca I've been to.

Hahaha - you introduced me to a Skittle Bomb at the Aussie - ive never had one of those before, but they were pretty darn good

Really? Oh man. I have absolutely no memory of that. I reckon I must have an NA liver too, should stop trying to keep up with you turbo guys.

    • Yes to both! Yes to standard ECU and tune, but exhaust is aftermarket. Unsure on brand. Actually have it sitting in at my desk haha! I have to set it up on my laptop but this is a great next step, will do. So I generally try to shift before 4.5K RPM most times. I largely don't do a lot of high-rev driving, but I will take it up to red 1-2x a week max, as I know the occasional "Italian tune-up" is good for these cars.  Oh wow, is this way better than what I'm getting. Does this mean there's a good chance I have an issue?   Thanks for all the info so far guys.
    • Old Son, did you re-use the Holden ABS in the new shell or try a different module?
    • Yeah, nah. I had the actuator rod off it today. The arm will not move at all. Neither out, nor in. Yeah, you'd think so, but I've been thinking about that. Even when the actuator rod fell all the way off at the beginning of this saga, it would build more boost and faster in lower gears than it would in higher gears, and you'd think that that was the opposite of what should happen. But I strongly suspect that there is a thing with the gearing getting the revs to rise faster, that there must be some transient effect with the gas flow rate rising quickly, that you don't get with the more steady state case of the higher gears. Keep in mind - the gate is not shut in either of my weirdnesses. So things are not "normal". We normally think about a turbo spooling up (below the wastegate target) with the gate shut. I have all sorts of mental models running now where the gate is a little bit open, and having it stuck open allowing gas out while it should be going through the turbine has all sorts of weird effects (in these mental models). I'm thinking in the higher gears, the ex mani pressure builds to the point where enough gases spill out the wastegate to just prevent the pressure rising much more at all, or just creeping up, all the whole the revs are increasing and getting closer to the point where a gear shift becomes necessary.
    • Is it possibly wastegate actuator itself is sticking, or even the rod to flapper? Otherwise I reckon things are getting a bit rusty/worn   Also odd it won't boost in 3rd to 5th, but will in 1st, I'd expect the other way around with it slightly open as there's more time on your way to redline for it to spin up
    • Does anyone know ow what these two plugs are for and if they should be unplugged? Just put the dash back together and can't remember if these were plugged in before or unplugged! (Blue and white plugs) 🤦🏽‍♂️
