The Cops Are Ramping It Up - Leave The Skyline At Home!

Recommended Posts

In a residential area, expect a kid to run out... Driving 101. Or child minding 101 really.

Pretty sure its not serve and protect anymore. Anyway, (I'm sure I am not the only one thinking this)We only hear one side of the story, and your side always has you being little miss daisy, always taking your mum somewhere or visiting your parents, being a little angel, doing 10km/h under the limit, not reving the car, driving in a manner that would seek attention etc, yet you get reamed again and again. Are you telling the full story? Do have a terrible attitude? Do you drive like a fresh P plater and boot it from every set of lights and BOV every girl walking along? Was your car slammed before? I just don't get it. I live in the inner-east, I frequent many "hot-spots", Yet I don't have issues.

I received a couple of fair infringements when I first got my P's. and the officers dropped by the next day, sat me down and gave me a stern talking to and explained to me from their point of view why what i was doing was illegal, the risks etc, And to me that was/is Good law enforcement, and that is why I have respect for the Police. I have received one infringement I didn't agree with, I could of fought it and got off if I sent a letter, but at the end of the day it was a breach of the law even though it wasn't intentional, so you learn from things.

People need to learn from things, and not just say "f**k the Police". Don't whinge about a lack of racetracks, be proactive and contact MP's about it. The older voters want "hoons off the street", We want "a safe and legal environment", so make them understand it is the same thing. All the voters can get what they want. Then all you are left with are the minority of dickheads with either no impulse control or no brains. or both.

Mate, I wish I was doing something illegal. I mean, look at it this way, would I be dumb enough to Hoon, drive like an idiot and leave all the defectable items on my car like twice after my car was defected and had to go to Vicroads to be cleared? No! I did not do anything idiotic or illegal.

Ease up guys. A decent cop comes along and explains it the way he (the police) sees it, he admits that they do make mistakes and are not perfect and hands out pretty good advice.

Then you guys all flip out at him because of the way other officers treat you. This guy is one of the few policemen out there who are genuinely trying to do their job properly and you're doing nothing but giving him a reason to dislike you.

All the cops that visit and post on SAU are good fellas...I absolutely agree...not having a go at them - just venting my anger for all the other "unfair officers" out there!

Spunky, I think you should goto as many good\trashy media sources you can and tell your story truthfully and fairly (no bullshit so the police cannot catch any dramatisation out to dismiss you).

I think what has happened is beyond a joke now. If that were me I think I would be in county for murder of a police officer.

heres some old school 'hoon videos'

notice how the commodores do the burnouts but they pull over the imports?

here some pure revenue raising against some wogs,

this is only bout imports cos its drifting

why dont dicks like this get introuble with cops?

just a few videos i found when i was bored

lol I was bored before people come over for Xmas and decided to log on and see whats happening on this forum...

same old shit...

if you cant hack the defects then get another car, be realistic no1 gives a toss about how skylines owners may be victimised..we have all said it before its part of the import joy..right or wrong and writing an essay on it wont chnage a thing, although you can keep typing if you want...LOL

How many spanners do I see in Skylines doing stupid stuff? most of the time, its no suprise the cops will come and single us out..how many cars have illegal mods on them...most of them (including mine mind you) but if and when I get pulled over I will cop it like a man and just deal with it, regardless of if they chased me, were bored, thought I might be asian or looked like some other guy or the lady cop thought I was cute and wanted my number...btw that really happened recently but not in my skyline!

I think they do a great job at dealing with a lot of tossers out there and if one or two undeserving people happen to "cop it" then so be it, its life shit happens...however there are so many more important things to worry about.

Blaze away.

got stopped by cops last night, they did an inspection of hte car, breath tested me, and then let me go

freaking was nervous as though - first time in 4 years of owning the car that i got stopped for a check of the cars mods

KJ got it in one. When my 180 was still rolling, it was very far from roadworthy, but I knew if I got sprung, I'd cop it on the chin. No point trying to preach that import owners are hard done by, because no one will listen.

nobody is disputing been reemed if its deserved i know my car is defectable and i will cop another one when it happens thats fine i chose to do what i did ill except that however their is no need to be disrespected and treated like sh!t didnt these cops parents teach them anything treat others as you wish to be treated so now point the finger at who started it but i can assure you i am always curteous polite and helpful however im yet to receive the same treatment and therefore i have lost all respect for what should be one of the highest regarded proffessions.

i couldnt even drive into knox the other day to get last minute pressy without being defected. great..

so who else is thinking about making a defect scrap book? :D

+1

yes people with illegal mods should be prepared for defects but the whole treating us like shit is not on. Victoria Police: To Protect and Serve...Defects

Dont know if it's just me that gets frustrated with people quoting american garbage but VicPol's slogan is Uphold the Right

Look, I'm going to set the record straight...i had what the cops deemed as illegal modifications...slapped me with a canary and a big fine...ok fair enough.

Howerver, it's the pulling me over another 2 times and fining the farm out of me again for shit that I have removed or fixed and saying that my car is a cop magnet and fined over And over again that's farked!

I copped two $292 fines after my car has been deemed roadworthy by a qualified mechanic and Vicroads themselves is a joke!

what did u get done for?

spunky i cant undetstand how the proceeded to fine you if you have a RWC i'd be ringing the police/vicroads and saying what the faark!? i dont know who you appeal the fine to but yeh that cant be right.. provided the car has not changed since the RWC was issued.

someone please correct me if im wrong.

thank god i have 2 cars my skyline barely moves now... partly cos its quite a process to get out of the driveway haha..

Man i feel sorry for you guys.

I moved up to darwin just over a year ago.

Now they have started putting redlight/speed cameras in, but from what ive seen the cops are generly pretty good towords imports unless you get known to them.

also darwin is a lot more relaxed on its laws re mod's and the such for example.

p-platers can drive what they like e.g v8 and turbo. (mind you there are some fast v8 utes up hear being driven by p platers)

If we wish to mod our cars and its gona be a major change i.e s13 suspetion in 31 or brake up grade.

we put forword a propsal of the planed mods, what were useing and how and why it's being done. this then get asseseted by the TAC- technical advisory commities who will aprove it or not. and if it get's aproved your allowed to have it on the street.

To bad vic doesn't take leed and it seems like the NT gov it following vic/nsw more and more as they just introduced the hoon laws.

reading this thread makes me upset. I never knew the stress involved with being pulled over until this year. owning an R33 for 6 years and never pulled over once until this year, where i've been pulled over six times grrr. (and i've only driven 30,000km in 6 years, about 3 of them this year)

Spunky, based on information here, i totally agree you should take legal advice and go to court. it's good you have their names on the slip as you could also write a letter of complaint directly to police headquarters if you like

Please keep us all updated. i've been driving my line now every day since i got it back from the workshop and hoping i can continue to enjoy the summer weather. Good luck

I call a reasonable degree of BS of the claims posted.

For around $700 or so, you can get two high definition video cameras to continously record hours of footage onto SSD. Small price to pay if you're getting stung $300 or so per day/week/month. If what you say is true about your innocence and can prove it beyond reasonable doubt, it wouldn't just be a select few perceived internet hoons backing you but it would find its way into mainstream media.

All of us are selective of which truths to share.

    • Look, realistically, those are some fairly chunky connectors and wires so it is a reasonably fair bet that that loom was involved in the redirection of the fuel pump and/or ECU/ignition power for the immobiliser. It's also fair to be that the new immobiliser is essentially the same thing as the old one, and so it probably needs the same stuff done to make it do what it has to do. Given that you are talking about a car that no-one else here is familiar with (I mean your exact car) and an alarm that I've never heard of before and so probably not many others are familiar with, and that some wire monkey has been messing with it out of our sight, it seems reasonable that the wire monkey should be fixing this.
    • Wheel alignment immediately. Not "when I get around to it". And further to what Duncan said - you cannot just put camber arms on and shorten them. You will introduce bump steer far in excess of what the car had with stock arms. You need adjustable tension arms and they need to be shortened also. The simplest approach is to shorten them the same % as the stock ones. This will not be correct or optimal, but it will be better than any other guess. The correct way to set the lengths of both arms is to use a properly built/set up bump steer gauge and trial and error the adjustments until you hit the camber you need and want and have minimum bump steer in the range of motion that the wheel is expected to travel. And what Duncan said about toe is also very true. And you cannot change the camber arm without also affecting toe. So when you have adjustable arms on the back of a Skyline, the car either needs to go to a talented wheel aligner (not your local tyre shop dropout), or you need to be able to do this stuff yourself at home. Guess which approach I have taken? I have built my own gear for camber, toe and bump steer measurement and I do all this on the flattest bit of concrete I have, with some shims under the tyres on one side to level the car.
    • Thought I would get some advice from others on this situation.    Relevant info: R33 GTS25t Link G4x ECU Walbro 255LPH w/ OEM FP Relay (No relay mod) Scenario: I accidentally messed up my old AVS S5 (rev.1) at the start of the year and the cars been immobilised. Also the siren BBU has completely failed; so I decided to upgrade it.  I got a newer AVS S5 (rev.2?) installed on Friday. The guy removed the old one and its immobilisers. Tried to start it; the car cranks but doesnt start.  The new one was installed and all the alarm functions seem to be working as they should; still wouldn't start Went to bed; got up on Friday morning and decided to have a look into the no start problem. Found the car completely dead.  Charged the battery; plugged it back in and found the brake lights were stuck on.  Unplugging the brake pedal switch the lights turn off. Plug it back in and theyre stuck on again. I tested the switch (continuity test and resistance); all looks good (0-1kohm).  On talking to AVS; found its because of the rubber stopper on the brake pedal; sure enough the middle of it is missing so have ordered a new one. One of those wear items; which was confusing what was going on However when I try unplugging the STOP Light fuses (under the dash and under the hood) the brake light still stays on. Should those fuses not cut the brake light circuit?  I then checked the ECU; FP Speed Error.  Testing the pump again; I can hear the relay clicking every time I switch it to ON. I unplugged the pump and put the multimeter across the plug. No continuity; im seeing 0.6V (ECU signal?) and when it switches the relay I think its like 20mA or 200mA). Not seeing 12.4V / 7-9A. As far as I know; the Fuel Pump was wired through one of the immobiliser relays on the old alarm.  He pulled some thick gauged harness out with the old alarm wiring; which looks to me like it was to bridge connections into the immobilisers? Before it got immobilised it was running just fine.  Im at a loss to why the FP is getting no voltage; I thought maybe the FP was faulty (even though I havent even done 50km on the new pump) but no voltage at the harness plug.  Questions: Could it be he didnt reconnect the fuel pump when testing it after the old alarm removal (before installing the new alarm)?  Is this a case of bridging to the brake lights instead of the fuel pump circuit? It's a bit beyond me as I dont do a lot with electrical; so have tried my best to diagnose what I think seems to make sense.  Seeking advice if theres for sure an issue with the alarm install to get him back here; or if I do infact, need an auto electrician to diagnose it.
    • Then, shorten them by 1cm, drop the car back down and have a visual look (or even better, use a spirit level across the wheel to see if you have less camber than before. You still want something like 1.5 for road use. Alternatively, if you have adjustable rear ride height (I assume you do if you have extreme camber wear), raise the suspension back to standard height until you can get it all aligned properly. Finally, keep in mind that wear on the inside of the tyre can be for incorrect toe, not just camber
    • I know I have to get a wheel alignment but until then I just need to bring the rear tyres in a bit they're wearing to the belt on the inside and brand new on the outside edge. I did shorten the arms a bit but got it wrong now after a few klms the Slip and VDC lights come on. I'd just like to get it to a point where I can drive for another week or two before getting an alignment. I've had to pay a lot of other stuff recently so doing it myself is my only option
