Picked up some Sidchrome stubby ratcheting spanners and a 3 piece Ratchet set today.

Repco is having a 1/2 price clearance sale so cost me $49.99 for the ratchets (total) and $65 for the spanners.

My brother in law also bought a 64 piece socket set for $115.

Get in quick.

Is this a good deal folks?

Kinda need to spend money on tools, looks like I will save some cash in the long run as opposed to doing it piecemeal.

personally I would not buy a kit with AF tools, unless you use them for something. Try and find the same sort of size without the AF and save a bit.

I put together a set of the stuff I needed in EVA and its been great compared to having everything thrown in drawers loose.

BTW like Zeb said you may well find physical stores can match or better prices if you can pick up; they have good margins on those kits.

You want to be careful with the cheap stuff, ratchet handles and such tend to break.

Cheap sockets and spanners are fine as long as they are a good fit, you have to check how well the hex bit is shaped.

Maybe think about what tools you want to be good and what tools you can handle being cheap, then build up a set. I dont mind spending $100+ on a set of nice spanners.

And yeah af is useless unless you have some old or weird sht to fix.

A condensor for spraying at home. A copy of dads, his is much neater, mine works fine.

Bunnings copper pipe and air line fittings, Supercheap regulator/trap, plumbing shop brass fittings to adapt to the air fittings, and some bits from the junkpile to make a stand for it.

what other places can I try? what other brands do similar packages?

just work from their catalogue, and get a couple of quotes from local resellers. sp toolkits are here http://www.sptools.com/en/product-list-2014/tool-kits-en-2-3-4/#ty;pagination_contents;/en/product-list-2014/tool-kits-en-2-3-4/

most of my stuff is kincrome supplied by a local auto one, but you could also order them thru bunnings (lowest price guarantee). I'm not a tool brand whore but didn't want cheap either (broken tools cause ouchies).

No.

While they aren't going to be starwille or hazet

They aren't shit

Good to know.

Plenty of good tools are cheap, but knowing which ones is the trick.

I like Kinchrome level of quality, and some things i want nice i get Sidchrome. Snap-on and such prices are a joke.

Ive never seen, nor would i want a ratchetting tap wrench. When cutting a thread you should be constantly turning it a bit backwards after a short cut forward just to make sure the metal doesnt tear and continues to cut

Ok thx -Irwin among others make them and there seem to be a few around on eBay etc (but obviously questionable quality). The ratchet mechanism seemed like it could be useful for tight spaces but I see what you mean.

Starrett T handle wrenches seem reasonably priced and plenty of good reviews. Might just grab one from Amazon.

    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
