Not as yet I only received it this week! I plan to put it on in December as I have a few other parts I need to collect to upgrade the fuel side of things at the same time

I'll take some photo's when i'm doing it all if you would like :)

I'm interested to see how they added the VQ35 hydraulic cam actuator to the front of the camshaft and got it all to work.

My VQ25 runs an electric clutch CV arrangement instead, which may be easier to retrofit as it doesn't need the hydraulic lines. I always wondered why HKS went the external oil feed path... If you could post pics in a Vcam thread I would appreciate it.

Should be a great addition, but I hope you have the valve clearance. Those actuators can advance 50 degrees. Who will be tuning it?

Oh sorry I thought you meant about the turbo install.

I actually bought the car with the vcam already installed. It's currently running the the vcam controller and an fcon v pro which i'll be keeping for the time being.

Will be retuned on e85 with the new setup and will more than likely be done by tunehouse (fairly limited when it comes to tuners that can tune an fcon and vcam)

It will be more responsive and make more power. Everywhere. A guy on NS put a 6758 (bigger) on his SR and it was a bit like a V8 in terms of delivery.

Wait for the 7163, that might be a game changer.

If I got the 6258 and a manifold to suit, would would I have to convert the rear housing to a t3, or is it feasible to run a t25 housing on an rb? i.e. too much of a bottleneck not enough room etc.

No it will be fine. The best thing to do will be to have a good fabricator cut off the T2 flange and weld on a nicely shaped reducer and a T3 flange.

The housing is stainless so you can weld on a stainless T3 flange no hassle.

Read the last 5 pages of this thread as we have been discussing exactly this (i want a T3 7163).

Also, is go a bit larger and get the 6758 or 7163 as the 20s like to rev :-)

New turbine/housing options listed on match bot too.

Also found an awesome read on mixed flow turbine wheels with a mention of the pros/cons of using TiAl - http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ijrm/2012/589720/

Needless to say, I'm very excited about the 7163 in 0.80 twin scroll (although I hope the 0.80 comes out for my 7064 because I'm not changing turbos any time soon)

    • Before I get to the test day, just to finish off the android head unit. This is a demo from car start up....the standard/host system takes a few seconds to boot (same as all v37) but Android comes up quickly. In this vid I'm using the delivered launcher but have set the default to Agami since which is easier to navigate when if use primarily 5 apps. You can see the host system still takes over when required eg putting it in reverse, and you can switch between Android and not by holding the back button 3 sec. It is pretty responsive (fast) but you can see I had to press harder than expected a couple of times.  I still have the phone connected to the stock system, and that also seamlessly takes over Android music playing. v37-android-demo.mp4 The bigger reason that I put this in though is so that I can use Ecutek directly on the head unit. That gives me a dash with logging (up to 20MB only), high and low value warnings on any parameter etc etc. I've run a USB cable from the Ecutek OBD dongle to a USB input on the unit, easy. v37-ecutek-demo.mp4   The unit did freeze on the launcher the other day, I think Agami was trying to verify the license when it didn't have a data connection...will monitor and report back if there are any other problems but so far I'm very happy with the upgrade.
    • Nah that is just crappy GPS mapping, I did have a small excursion (cold tyres, damp track, surprise!), will post up that when I get a chance.
    • So 10/10 times that code is coil packs? I mean if that's the case ill drop the $400USD or so to replace them. I didn't know these cars threw codes before the issue became an issue.
