They will, the same will go for any Jap import that's currently treated like shit. Anyone who said otherwise though is also just as likely losing their shit over TA22's, 510's and the like right now.

are you going to hang on to yours for 10 years to find out?

She ain't going anywhere. That being said, I'm not putting it into storage, so it will more likely break down on me before that happens. Think about it, though...R33 GTS-T was/is arguably the most popular jap import...once they are all destroyed/defected off the road and you can't get them anymore, I think they'll actually see an increase in value. Why? Same reason even average muscle cars from the 70s have commanded a premium over the last 10 years. Newer cars suck for aesthetics and someone from an older generation, who is now old and has acquired enough money to buy nostalgia, will get wet over seeing a rarely good example of a popular car from their era. Monaros and Toranas were nothing special in their heyday. Mustangs by all rights are buckets of rusting unreliable shit. They just look good, sound good, and bring back retro feels. GTR will likely always be worth more, but I'm guessing they'll have all done a bearing by then...

I hope you're right.

Don't remember the last time I saw a neat 33 getting around

I do, it was underneath my carport...

Seriously though, I've been copping looks from people lately, like it's rare to see a 33, let alone in good condition anymore. Mine isn't even perfect, but it's straight and I must admit it does look good from a few metres away.

People buying them for dirt cheap and thrashing / writing them off / parting them out. The days of a straight and well kept 33 are numbered. For the right buyer, money isn't an option - hang in there brah. Cars this quick never sink below a certain price and from there it's only up or stable value. If nothing else, it's still the best value performance car you can be driving around at the moment IMO.

cars gaining value over time is all well and good, but the challenge is keeping them. need money for house, or need bigger house/garage to accomodate cars + upkeep costs and posssible repairs, rebuilds, paint jobs, $1200 a/c compressors *cough* etc. but i reckon once you get to the club permit age, you're laughing cause then suddenly it makes the car even more attractive with $100 rego.

this^

only chance ill get back in a 33 is when they hit club reg age. i find 32's butt ugly... so ill wait. 5 years to go....

Need money for house? An absolute max $10k r33 ain't gonna buy you much. Mine is actually very reasonable in terms of running costs, ac still works sweet and motor is still hanging in there *cough* ;)

Wouldn't call it a hassle at all, if you can put up with the police / supermodels harassing you about your car

if your 10k of a 50k deposit it might!

and lol at supermodels.

yeah with things like stamp duty and even just a deposit, an extra $5k-10k is really worth it.

    • Have a vb in honour of the car comming back
    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
