Man even 380 is more than enough. Dont want to worry about gearboxes or driveshafts like others do

Hah! Just reminded me, My clutch only handles up to 380rwkw anyway

Yeah serious detune after 1 power run i think

Huge power for RWD Skyline, almost too much lol. But yeah, might as well take advantage of the huge power and get Trent to make it a conservative tune for longevity! Just be careful with third gear...albeit the most fun, they are also the most susceptible to instant gearbox destruction in GTS-T and GTR boxes (especially). What rubber are you running?

Also, I believe you owe me a post-tune ride in your vehicle, Tony.

Can do post ride

I agree too much power i think 350rwkw is an ok number to settle with for driveability and traction

What power rating does the gearboxes take before shit starts to happen?

Hankook rs3's 265

Once I get new rims I will probably go for a 285 tyre

Toby gotta take me for a spin when you get it back!

what turbo you running / engine still 2.5? strong unaware of your build.

Can do

It's pretty much a xr6 turbo. 3582. Smaller than a Garrett one though

Still 2.5L, internal gate, stock turbo position

Be me

Drop r34 off for transmission work, before 6 week holiday rattle abounds (auto)

Told 1 week

Told no problem

Go on trip, life is awesome for weeks

Return

Car not ready, can't find part over christmas

Ok

Still have daily, eta 1 week

Daily dies 1 day later

Shit. Obtain many lifts

Pick up car on birthday

Pay 2000

Car dies 20 minutes later on highway due to dead fuel pump 5km from barwon prison when you live in eastern suburbs

Hope your day was better!

Ouch! That's a kick in the dick... at least it wasn't someone wrong within the box and it'd be off the road for another month!

I have and/or had a brand newish (5000kms) walbro 460l..

I am rather unlucky at cars.

It's rather dark out here looking for a tow.

Dd you ever think 'ok. That thing is cursed and if better move it on for something else?' at some stage?

Cos I recall you first had that issue with just na+t 3+ years ago.

What is it with Lankan's with wings.

Best I've ever had were some my mate who from Sri Lanka did for us

maybe you have same recipe!

Lol dunno. Wings are the poor mans meal anyway.

I hope it's not the same lol I looked at a couple of base recipes and just ended up making my own.

I have a spare 460L here if you need it, and a screwdriver. :P

W

Yeah I was only hoping for 320rwkw+

Rev limiter will be set to ~7,800 to 8,000rpm pending so will sure be interesting.

Trent thinks ~400rwkw

Might have to ask for a detune otherwise be too scared to boot it

What did I tell you ;)

it replaces wasteland for past couple years.....

oh yeah

Mods fk off
hypergear turbos are boring
D1R's crack if you drive over a speed bump
E85 is only good for moonshine

OH and any-one who travels outside AU is a loser.

What's better? Faster? Crisper? Gentler?

Picking up this weekend, will be pinching keys quite quickly

beauty of it all being electronics, you can leave standard gentle and slippy, and get him to make sport a bit more savage for when you want a go :P

his contact info should be on the site and he lives in melbs, can tune the engine and trans and has a fairly pimp evo 10 too.

also, if the service history doesnt show any services to the auto trans, SERIOUSLY look into getting the fluid and filter changed if more than 40,000km then do it every 40,000km after for a long happy trans life.

You've driven mine, at 270rwkw it only just hangs on to 2nd gear with quality 265 tyres and the 1.5 way. E85 powered turbos come on fast and strong; you'll definitely want those 285s! I'm still very happy with my power for a street car; no desire to upgrade or change it.

That being said, a good right foot controls how much boost you get, so you can always go all out on the tune (within the limits of the clutch) and train that foot. Are you going to have a separate 98 tune or is yours a flex tune?

Gearbox tolerance for power is a piece of string...plenty of people pushing your power levels through these boxes safely; they handle a lot. Others can break the a box with standard power. This is where not so grippy tyres and a soft clutch are your best friends.

What did you tell me :/

I don't know about Aaron, but I certainly told you to just E85 the SS2 :P

Oh well, if you can find a way to get traction...maybe wait for 4th gear...should be epicly quick.

Yes, the previous owners of this car and my daily are both dead. There is a running joke that the cars ARE cursed and they break until you sell them, then they kill you after and it continues.

I've had it 6 and a half years, and done 25,000ish kms. Its supposed to be a daily doing ~40km a day :P

Also the tow cost $532.

    • Possibly avoid using a Cometic one unless the deck/head surface are perfectly flat. I did have a look just then and forgiving gaskets such as Tomei or Nitto don't exist for the FJ20, however the Bar-Tek or Kameari ones look good and might do the trick.
    • Because pipe threads for pipe things. M threads for bolt things. Throw some teflon sealant onto it and dust your hands off knowing you did the right thing, instead of going twice around the block to achieve a result using the wrong things. Of course, all of these solutions are ignoring the fact that the minimum thread pitch we're talking about here is 1.25mm, with the 1/4" in NPT or BPS being out around 1.4mm. You will need to know that the boss you're tapping has enough thickness for at least a few threads. That's one of the reasons that 1/8" is commonly used - because the pitch is <1mm. And why would you look to use 1/4" NPT in a BSP country anyway? Ugh.
    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)
