I'd be cautious about wheel nuts for a race car, I've seen lots of nasty ends due to simple problems. In particular I'd never again run alloy ones, steel only for me - I ran alloy for about 2 meets before deciding I didn't like the look of the wear as they came on and off, and got hot.

Is the problem that you can't fit the wheel nut into the hole (ie nut too large diameter), or that you can't get the nut onto the thread adequately (studs too short).

I recently had trouble getting standard (21mm socket) nuts onto the Leaf's new wheels so I bought these and they have enough space: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=181334793255. Also you can get thin wall sockets for putting wheel nuts on eg http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Kincrome-Wheel-Nut-Socket-19mm-Yellow-K2183-/271418431242?pt=AU_Hand_Tools&hash=item3f31cc970a

Also just check with the wheel nuts if the wheels are for tapered or flat wheel nuts, eg R34 gtr wheels are for flat wheel nuts, most are tapered like the link above.

If you need longer studs you can get hold of them too.

if referring to these...

they are outside and 19mm socket too, but lock nut has got plenty of length on it. there are heaps of inside lock nuts, just need to shop around.

with wheels like that, i'd also be careful of how much thread you got available for the nuts. If not much, say hello to longer studs too. yay.

Yeah those ones. They can be done/undone with a 17mm socket (just went and checked) or a 21mm socket over the project mu socket.

yeah sorry, meant 21mm... didnt know they could be undone with 17mm sockets. Thought they were a 7-sided nut so cant us conventional sockets/spanners.

Can vouch for quality of those nuts. can get them cheap on ebay (probably stolen though as $130 is probably below cost)

As mentioned above, these are steel, internal hex and cheap:

Also, are you planning on PC'ing the centres white? They already look awesome!

Thanks guys, will probably go with those internal drive nuts from ROTA, with plenty of camber.

This is what they will end up looking like:

I'm pretty happy I managed to find these in the size I wanted, it's about a close a match as I could hope for.

You must be happy with those wheels man

I thought the brake caliper clearance looked good from the pictures.
You'll have to measure them up and see what the specs are, they look very tasty!

For the wheel nuts, I bought a set of the internal hex type from Ozzy Tyres for $50 with the tool, Jax, Bob Jane etc all seem to sell these for a similar price

I used them on my last skyline (mainly track) for 18 months without any issues, I'd recommend trying them.

Awesome build too, glad to see it progressing and getting some track time too.

What sort of tyre will you run? and size?

I have someone that can fabricate the center lock adaptors for you.

Ill be doing the same thing for a set of BBS E88 from a porsche 996 RSR.

Would be nice to know the size and offset of these.

I found the perfect wheels to finish this off ... just one problem you only need 4 wheel nuts !

These are awesome. Gotta make do with what I've got!

A couple of shots with some camber dialled in. I think the rears have a bit too much camber so we're sending it to east coast suspension to dial it in

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
