I big thumbs up to the organisers. The day was run very well. I had a blast.

Commiserations to the owner of the R32 that hill the wall. Glad to hear you walked away from it though - that's the main thing.

Great bunch of guys and girls there. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

I've got some in-car video I will upload tonight, including the Corvette doing a nice pirouette. :)

Hey everyone,

Glad to have met some really nice people yesterday. I'm absolutely devastated about losing my pride and joy.

I think it was a combination of too much speed, cold tyres and oversteer....

Still not sure what I'll be doing with the car.....

Thanks for the great day out.

Thanks for all the people who gave me a hand on the day.

The wagon does have some speed in it, I'm happy with the time of 1.13 but it was sad to see the r32 wrecked.

you can build it, bigger, better, stronger.....

That was one of the nicest 32's around, at least you used it for what it was designed for. Although being pretty much show car quality it was brave. If you have the energy both emotionally and physically to re build it I'm sure it will be a work of art again but if not I'm sure we would all understand your pain

I do.(not crashed, but 3x sets of bearings and engine builds)

It's heart breaking.

But, generally with a build like that, it's an obsession.

And won't go away.

Build it again.

Then buy a cheap track car to thrash.

Either way, if you need a hand, or just to talk, let me know.

Hey peeps

Thanks for your support....I would love to restore my pride and joy but at the moment cash is tight and now with a small family....

She definitely was a one of a kind, at least I managed to keep the dream alive for 4 years. I have another dream....a hakosuka with an RB26.....just a matter of time.

I've posted up a thread in the sales section

http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/448924-eoi-94-r32-gtr-with-front-end-damage/

If anyones interested in buying the car as is, please give me a call...

Cheers

you should be glad for a few things

1- you walked away

2- you have a super cool story to tell, not a "i crashed my car in traffic" story, but "I smacked the wall at Eastern Creek"

3 - that wall had it coming.

:)

Hey KC,

Sounds like you have a good outlook despite the situation. Condolences for your pride & joy mate.

I had an on track incident with my Wife's MX5 a few years back. When you stop and think about the calculated risks, a track is still the best place to let loose our cars. All too many fatalities occur on public roads where speed and 'objects' are factors. Given the speeds we do at the track, most walk away from accidents.

If you want to chat to someone who's been in your situation feel free to PM me.

big thanks to all the organisers and volunteers for getting this day up and running, had an absolute ball, the car went hard all day and shaved 2 seconds off my best time from last year

also thanks to Brian for taking me for a spin in the corvette, such a beast, and to Mark (Staz88) for sitting shotgun and teaching me how to spin out like a boss, ended up shaving off those 2 seconds straight up next timed session. Hopefully Luke got some footage from that passenger session, was quite fun

Cant beat the last session of the day though which we all seemed to treat as a fun session, jez blasting past me through the esses twice, and bighead overtaking me up the hill....... sideways....... was pissing myself laughing when i saw him coming in the mirror

I had an absolute blast. Managed to knock off 3 seconds from my time last year which I'm stoked about.

A huge shout out to the organisers, thr marshals and time keepers at SMSP and to Dave running around all day keeping things running smoothly.

Also a thanks to Nick for riding shotgun with me giving me tips, I've got lots to work on.

I'll upload some footage over the next few days which also includes some epic flamage from the Nur

    • @666DAN sorry to bring you and old thread.     I've got my de+t done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.    Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd when selected . But nothing when in  drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic. I'm sure there is maybe 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Do ya have any ideas?     Cheers man
    • Well I recently changed my rear axles and was thinking if I bumped anything, I have been driving the car for a while now though... But it has been raining today so everything is wet under the wheel arches. Brakes feel fine and can't hear any of the metal screamers, I had a squeak coming from one of the handbrake drums but that seems to have gone away a while ago. I was going down a hill when it lit up and I did feel the abs bite for a second and question why it did it?
    • Correct. Um. I dunno. I haven't cared enough about the way that the NA cars work to know for sure. But..... The 33/34 turbo manual cars have an electronic speed sensor in the gearbox that outputs a +/- (ie, sawtooth AC) voltage signal. That is connected to the speedo. The speedo then outputs a 0-5v square wave (ie, PWM) signal that the ECU (and any other CU on the bus) sees. The speed sensor is NOT directly connected to the ECU. So here's the problem. Your new ECU expects to see the PWM signal, but must somehow be getting a direct signal from the diff speed sensor. Which would suggest that the wiring of the NA car is not the same as the turbo cars. I think you will need to spend some time with (hopefully the wiring diagram for the car) and a multimeter to see what is connected to what. Then, presuming I am correct**, you would then want to separate the ECU speed signal input from the rest of the car's wiring, and probably either buy a speed signal converter, or build one using an arduino (or similar). That would take in the speed sensor signal and output a scaled (and suitably rearranged) signal for the ECU. ** We shouldn't presume that I am correct here, because there might be something else crazy going on. I don't think you could convert the speedo to be fed from the gearbox sensor, because the pulse rate from that sensor is probably different to the diff sensor and then the speedo would read wrongly. And this also wouldn't fix the ECU's problem either, because the ECU doesn't want to see the gearbox signal direct either (assuming that they are all on the same wiring, for some odd NA related reason, see above caveat!) Does this help? Probably not. Can you make it work? Almost certainly. With the above work. You should buy a handheld oscilloscope from Aliexpress so that you can view these signals directly. Connect up the probes and drive the car. Show photos of the screen when drving at known speeds and connected to different places, and we'll see what we can learn about it.
    • Assuming your brake pads are not worn right down, I'd add a little brake fluid. Is there any sign of a brake fluid leak?
    • Hello all,  I need of some help. On my drive home my handbrake light lit up and started flashing. When I got home I checked my handbrake sensor under the centre console and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. I have scanned my car via the consult port, no codes shown. Checked my brake fluid as well which is half full. Tried unplugging the brake master but it didn't change anything. Thoughts on what it could be? The master float doesn't seem to be stuck. My car is an 1998 ER34 sedan GT. No hicas but has ABS Photos below 👇🏾
