Gtr Badge On Gtst

Now I know straight away there is going to be a range of comments so hear me out!

my dream car since I can remember is an R32 Skyline (GTR to be specific) and have always wanted one.

I have never had the opportunity to accrue large amounts of money and have only ever bought one semi expensive car when I was younger (S13) which I got a loan for and jumped the gun being a young lad with $7000 and bought the first car I saw.

I have recently had the chance to purchase an R32 GTST for a really low price.

Here's where the badge comes into it. as I know I won't be able to afford a GTR for years (10+) I want to turn this GTST cosmetically into a GTR this would involve the badges, the kit, headlights etc.

My question is...

Is it justifiable to put this badge on my GTST in order to fulfill every aspect of a cosmetic GTR overhaul?

first of all, like others have said to me, it's your car, do whatever you want

then again, not that i'd condone any hoon-like behaviour, what if you got into a drag with another performance car?

if you did lose, they'd think GTRs are crap, when they obviously are beautiful beasts

so i say just save up for a real GTR cos a GTST badged as an GTR is as bad as a V6 badged as a V8

You'll get hate because there are so many things wrong with doing that in my opinion.

Why make it look like something it is not?

Just because you cosmetically enhance it's appearance does not mean it automatically becomes a GTR, lol. So why add a badge to the car that doesn't represent what it is.

The GTR still has the legendary engine, drive train and chassis supporting the car that a GTST does not.

If you manage your finances r32 gtr's are not that hard to acquire.

Second point is buying all the gear to make the gtst look like a gtr can cost you heaps of dollars. The story you have given us tells as you are basically poor and can't spend large amounts of money on one thing. While this is fair, you bought a cheap r32 gtst which probably has heaps of problems to begin with that aren't even remotely related to cosmetics. So you might find that while you are buying your fully sick gtr kit to make it look like a car it is not, you'll have the engine blow up or something die 1 month down the track.

Appreciate the car for what it is now and save up to own a GTR or keep dreaming. Don't throw a gtr badge on it because I f**king hate it when people do that. Coming from a GTR owner.

In the end you can do what you like though as nothing but money can really stop you.

I definitely agree that just putting a badge on it doesn't make it a GTR but like I said my intention is to make it have the appearance of a GTR. Not the engine and drive train.

As for the mechanical side of thing the engine runs perfect and I have fixed all the issues that were previously wrong with it (hense why it was cheap) and being a mechanic it didn't cost me anything but parts.

Saving is basically out of the question at the moment as I'm studying to be a Doctor and can't even work as my study is so strict but I have literally been given most of the body parts for a GTR so no need to buy them.

I have a GT-R kitted GTS-T

I more or less refuse to put a GT-R badge on it for reasons stated above, it's not a GT-R and never will be, even if i was to put an RB26 in, it's just not (unfortunately)

end of the day it's your car, do what you like but that's my 2c

In saying that, a lot of people, and i mean a LOT of people that aren't as cluey to pick up the rear guards do think it's a GT-R which is quite funny, I've even had GT-R owners compliment my "GT-R" lol it's sad however how much their tone changes when i say it's a GTS-T

I've seen a GT-R badge on the back of a civic.... so.... yes? It also had a transformer badge on the front so I guess it transforms into a GT-R when he gets challenged :P

To each his own in the end...

Wise words above regarding tue cost of genuine GT-R gear though. ..

I've seen GTR conversions on a variety of the r platforms from 32-34 and they can look nice when done correctly. Just make sure you leave off the badge =)

The kit will look nice and you should enjoy the car with what you can do.

Then once you are a doctor and have saved enough and you still decide to buy a 32 gtr, you can enjoy why you wouldn't want someone to badge a 32 gtst.

Unless you get a chance to drive a gtr before then. You'll know the difference in feelings going from one to another.

already a big thread about this, and will say again, the thing is you're claiming a title that's not been earned. You say you're studying to be a doctor...but you don't go around telling people you're a Dr yet do you, cause, you're not. You may well be one day and you can enjoy the success of having earned it then. Same deal with wearing the name-badge of a GTR.....

It cost around 1200-1300 USD which is FAR cheaper than the HKS and it is what iam looking for(i just do not have experience like this...to send something off to "upgrade" ) @tylink720 that is like 150 USD turbo no? 😄 I dont think i have the "ease on my mind" with this kind of turbo.       It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
