I was in an accident a few years ago which was just a case of stupidity, I hit a power pole doing 140kmh and walked away with no injuries. Whenever I hear a story such as this, it scares me to think what might have happened and how lucky I am to be alive. That incident has never left me and gave me a new sense of vulnerability and respect for cars and roads. Driving is a privilege not a right.

My heart goes out to his father especially, he'd probably be feeling some sort of regret and reponsibility for the accident. But it was something which was out of his hands. Hopefully everyone can learn something from this person's mistake so that others do not have to go through the same thing.

no disrespect but, screw the car....the car was only money, nothing that cant be replaced....

its the lives that are the only loss here.... ;)

i know i can speak for all the WA boys.... when i send our deepest condolences....

agreed! at the end of the day.. so what if its an R34GTR and was in SPEED etc.. the fact that lives were lost.. and a pregnant lady as well.. i dont understand how ppl can be concerned abt the car

I became a fan of skylines back in April, and it was only then that a friend introduced me to SAU. I don't have a skyline, but I did know about the EVLR34. When I saw it in the SPEED article, man the car was amazing and gorgeous.

But thats not what I'm writing about. My mate who started my interest, told me that the car had been ripped in half and that shocked me, but when I heard that 3 people had died in the car, I couldn't move.

I, like many other, have had that sick feeling in my stomach and chest, the goosebumps and the tears welling up in my eyes, and I didn't know these people at all.

Its a waste. I wish to express my deepest condolences to the family, friends and all involved to the people in the car.

All the news I'm hearing now about the accident and the other details concerning the people in the car is just making it harder to swallow. I wouldn't want to imagine what the families must be going through now.

I know most of us have done stupid things in our cars, and this just brings back memories of all the times I have (at least I was alone) and how lucky I was. Thinking about what could have happened, make me almost as sick as thinking about this accident.

My love and wishes to all the family and friends.

Mish

my god, this would have to be a fathers worst nightmare

wow, i dont know what to say

that picture of whats left of it made me sick in the stomach

what a waste of life and such a painfull way to die ;)

i remember this car pretty well because of the articles/pictures around

will be watching the news tonite to see if they know what happened, hopefully they show respect and not just pay out skylines

RIP EVL

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.
    • My Nismo 1.5 churps a bit on reverse turns when cold, but besides that feels like a stock diff.
    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts
    • Bunnings would have just handed you your money back on that one!
    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
