A good shop should do a fitting to see what works best for your vehicle.

Very useful. Or measure. As GTSBoy said, 17x9 +30 just about lines up perfect with the outside of the guard.

10.5 +22 is 27mm beyond the guard.

When you say just about lines up at the front, how many mm could I go extra?

18 X 9 + 28, 25?

It seems like the later cars will swallow something at least an inch bigger than what will comfortably fit under an R32 guard. It makes sense. The R32 standard wheel width is 6.5", and I think the R34 is 7.5" (and it is isn't, it's 7). They put on a wider wheel to ensure that there wasn't a gaping gap making the car look silly.

・L disk - Big caliper brake clearance
・R disk - Big caliper brake clearance
 

I’ve since found out that for R32 GTR you’ll need R-Disk to clear front brakes without spacers and rear can be O, A, or R disk.

Sorry PranK what does that mean! This is the first time I’m buying aftermarket wheels so I’m learning all the new terminology on the go haha

He means, "How much negative clearance is there between the back side of the wheel disc (or spokes) and the outer face of the brake caliper?"

Brake calipers can foul by being too large a diameter for the inside of the barrel, or they can hit the back of the disc area. People often ignore the latter possibility.

A bit late but A disk S13P fit over stock R32 GTR brakes, usually A disk front, O disk rear works.

Hi Gents. Do u know what 18rim will fit under R32 GTST with no modification of current setup I have. I have buddy Club P1 17x8 on front and 17x9 rears and they fit well.

 

Will an 18x9 on 35 off set with 235 tyres up front fit?

ON the Rears i can run the rim size n fit 255 or 245? or i got option to get 18x9.5 on 35+ Offset n 265?

There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17.

The speedo's can be very conservative, when my Mazda NC MX5 speedo is showing 118kph, the GPS, and a calibrated radar.... cop mate.....hits me at around 110kph +/- 1 or 2 kph, and that is on a 215/45 17, stock tyres size is 205/45 17 as well, so weirdly conservative with stock tyre size

When my Commodore speedo red 116kph GPS had me at 110kph on 255/40 17, so again conservative

Google says manufacturers need to set the speedo from 4 to 10% slower than actual road speed.....for safety.....and compliance 

After doing some offset and clearance measurements to see what can fit the NC on 17x8 +40, without guard rolling or rubbing anything at my current ride height, I've decided that when my tyres are toast, I'm going to fit 225/45 17 and see where that gets me IRT actual speed of my speedo and GPS/radar

From the online calculator I should be still be doing around 5kph under an actual 110kph when the speedo is showing 110kph

My ADHD requires that when I'm doing 110kph on the speedo, that the actual road speed is actually really close to that, and not alot slower

And going from 205 to 225 still keeps the car within the %/mm allowable in the NSW vehicle rules and regulations, which is nice, as long as I'm looking at the latest version that is.....LOL

That's now. R chassis Skylines come from a time when the tolerance in the ADRs was a bit more....slack.

My car, on 235/35-17, which is damn near the exact same size as the original 205/55-16, is pretty much bang on correct indicated speed across the whole legal range. That's demonstrated with constant speed run over 5km, and GPS speed. It's just the luck of the draw. My particular speedo head has to be the thing that is "calibrated" that way, because everything else (the diff ratio, the gearbox and the speedo drive**) are all same same as most other Skylines.

**OK, so the speedo drive is a Navara unit to drive the R32's cable, not the electronic unit than an R33/4 would normally have with teh same gear on it.

Otherwise, I applaud your OCD tendencies, and I would do the same if I needed to.

yeh they are 235/45/17 up front and 255/40/17 in the rears.

I still didn't get my answer if i can fit a 18x9 up front.

I want to get 4 of this and see if they will fit before committing as they didn't see an 18x8 as an option but there is a 18x9.5 also.

    • Bummer...yeah i "need" something to "ease" up the work and for my driving it would be enough.    Iam counting the tune "without" turbo. I do not mean "cheap" like something from Temu around 200 USD, "Cheap" is something around 1000 USD? 
    • Starter motors used to use the weight of metal (magnets) to provide torque. Now they use (more) current instead. This. It's completely normal.
    • So thing that had me stumped, but I think is OK....is that when it was up in the air, in neutral I had it running to bleed to coolant while I put the wheels back on. I noticed the rears were turning (slowly) which I'd never seen before 20250928_163512.mp4     Because there had been an issue with clutch slip due to pedal adjustment on the dyno, I assumed there was still and issue so spent some quality time upside down under the dash adjusting the pedal....but no matter what I did the wheels still turned in neutral. Even disconnected the master cylinder to pedal rod and same. In despair, I even removed the clutch slave so there was no chance of any preload causing it.....still happened. So either: 1. Something is not right in the bellhousing, or 2. Its a thing sometimes with cold, thick gearbox oil Internet says it might be 2, I hope so!
    • OK, few more things sorted and it is ready for a shakedown on 10-Oct, with one weird thing. Changed the run in oil and filter for the good stuff. 8l came out, about 8.5 went in with filter so that looks all good. Changed the starter (again), this time for a brand new one, works good. Interesting that the Taaaarks one is shorter than factory but spins harder, I guess electronics have moved on a little in the last 30 years. Will be nice to have a bit of extra space under there. Put the timing cover back on, and noted where the cam gears were set as a record.  Will need to double check the timing but it is pretty close. Also put the coil pack cover and intake snorkel back on. Exhaust Inlet Changed the water out for coolant, bled up nicely. Removed the rear brake pads (well worn factory sumitomo ones!), gave the hardware a good clean and reassembled. I've put bendix XP on the back again because the price is excellent at $150 a set and they worked well on the V37. Front pads have plenty so no issue there
