  1. Thanks for the replies guys. The injectors are remanufactured but have been tested and all ok (got the paper at home). I haven't checked fuel pressure so I may have to do this. Johnny (above) is going to have a crack at tuning for me, cheers mate!
  2. Advice Please - Injectors and Tune Issue Hey guys. I've been getting parts together for a couple months and finally installed them into my R33. I got the following installed: -Hypergear G3 21U high flow - z32 AFM and stainless intake pipe - Walbro 255lph fuel pump - 550cc Injectors (STI side feeds, part # 16600-AA170 with harnesses) - Nistune ECU - 3in turbo-back stainless exhaust and Blitz FMIC already installed Along with the parts I also did all the maintenance items, got new NGK coppers gapped to 8mm, new fuel filter etc etc. However, when I got Toshi to try and tune my car, he claimed that the AFRs were being whack and it was misfiring at 5k rpm. I immediately thought of coils and I also didn't do the earthing mod for the fuel pump, so this might have been my issue. I ended up buying Yellow Jacket coils packs and I also earthed the fuel pump and checked to ensure full voltage. The car started fine, test drive fine low revs, etc. However, again getting Toshi to try and tune and check AFRs etc and we still can't run boost into it as he claims the AFRs are still unstable. He now says it's the Injectors but I don't know if I believe that as when we're in the "base" tune he did, the car isles fine, revs fine etc albeit a bit rich. In short, 2 questions: 1. I know there are better options, but how likely is it these Injectors are actually the issue? They're not high flowed, but genuine STI Injectors. Anyone else run these? I can send back under warranty if needed. 2. How likely is it that the tune is the issue? I read another thread on here where someone had a problem with a Toshi tune that came down to injector latency being set wrong and another tuner fixed it. I really feel feel like after all the work done, and the fact that a rich tune revs fine but another tune doesn't makes me think it's the tune? Anyway, I currently am advised by Toshi not to boost the car as the AFRs are off and he wants me to replace Injectors and go back to him. I just want other opinions. Sorry for essay. Thanks in advance.
  3. Yeah gotcha. Well I won't get everything on and tuned for about a month (stupid busy at work atm sadly) but I'll post here when it's done, we'll see how we go
  4. In case you were curious, after speaking with Toshi (who was ultra conservative, and against the G3 @ 18psi on my engine) and Tao, we came up with a hybrid that was halfway between a G2 and G3 high flow. It's going to have a larger compressor wheel than a G2 but use an OEM wastegate. The reasoning was that I didn't want to have the bigger turbo with such a high minimum boost pressure on my daily. Adding to this, my goal was rather conservative, aiming for a responsive 240rwkw+ on P98. I have a feeling I'll regret not going bigger in future haha but for now I'm sure this will be fine I also trust Toshi's judgement
  5. Lol good to know. Ok thanks for the input. I'll chat through the options with Tao and see where I land. Edit: Was that standard internals Dose? I'm running all standard including HG
  6. Thanks for the reply dude. I was thinking the same thing, and therefore I wanted to go G3, but my understanding is the wastegate for this is set to 18psi. I'm hearing conflicting things that this might be too much boost for my 209xxx km engine (despite being well maintained, 200k service, etc) Happy to hear opinions. Supporting mods: NISTune, Z32AFM,3in Turbo back + high flow cat, Walbro 255, 550cc injectors. Goal was originally 240rwkw but am happy to temper expectations based on reliability.
  7. Hey guys. Just wondering who here has experience with the standard "G2" high flow and what your real world results were? Cheers!
  8. Indeed it is mate - it's what happens when people don't stop for red lights
  9. Hey all, Got into a prang with my R32 GTST. As per pictures, it was a front-on collision that took out the front bumper completely, all front lights, radiator and a few other bits. Looking to get rid of it ASAP. The engine seems fine, starts instantly, and the car can still move (note I don't say drive). The steering is fouled by the damage. Specs: RB25DET w/ roughly 170,000kms RB20 5 speed Z32 ECU w/nistune Ebay turbo (was working fine on 12psi) GTR pump I am NOT parting the car, selling whole. Best offer by Friday 29/1/16 can take it, I need it gone. Car is located in Guildford 2161. PM if interested. Thanks for your time.
  10. Just wanna give a shout out to Scott who helped me get my car sorted out. Big ups! Thanks man.
  11. Hey Scott, Thanks for the feedback man, appreciate it. The car is currently sitting at my work office in Lane Cove, so not really near you... I'll PM you. If anyone else has anything to add or any other shops they'd suggest please let me know, cheers boys.
  12. Hey guys, Long time lurker. Before you read this thread, please play this in the background. I've recently done some damage to my ol' R32 and she's a little worse for wear. After a couple years of incident-free fun with her I've dun goofed. Long story short, went into a corner too hot and smacked a gutter. Here's some pics: I'm hoping someone out there could: a) Let me know what damage I may have done here besides the obvious. b) How hard these parts are to get, what they'd cost and how difficult you think they are for an amateur to fix (I've replaced a turbo myself, any more difficult probably couldn't do). c) If there's someone you could recommend in Sydney to repair and approx cost? I know I'm an idiot (let's skip that), I also know you can't possibly know all potential damage without inspecting. With that said, I would REALLY appreciate some advice, especially from people experienced with similar damage. Any help would be great, thanks in advance. Josh.
  13. Yeah, but at the time my turbo died I was poor and needed my car on the road, so a dirty eBay unit was the trick! In my defence, it HAS done wwhat I wanted it to do, which was get me back on the road, and in fact, it seems to be a really nice turbo. Also, to note, I KNOW how to do it, I put the replacement turbo in myself. However, circumstances have changed and I have sweet f**k all tools at my disposal and where I park my car has almost no working space, with cars parked either side. Therefore, doing it myself would be too much of a PITA, not to mention the cost of tools will probably be close to what I'd pay for someone to do it anyway So as much as I appreciate the comments, still looking for someone who knows someone in Sydney to do this for me Orrrrrrrrrrrrrrr lend me a shed full of tools and a space to work for a day Preferably the above option first!
  14. Hey guys! So, I have an RB25 R32 GTST - it's been a pretty solid car, however, it's had a problem with boost creep since I replaced the turbo due to the stock one dying. The turbo I got is an ebay one (save your flaming) and has been good for the last 15,000kms. However, as you can imagine, not being able to top out gears 2 and up is kind of annoying Before you ask, the reason I've put up with it for so long is because I know the effort I went through to swap out the turbo and I realllly didn't wanna do it again Now the time has come and I'm sick of not being able to use my car the way it's supposed to! So, to the point, can anyone recommend a place in Sydney who can pull the turbo, port the wastegate and put it all back together? Looking for cheap Any other input is welcome as well. Cheers! Josh.
  15. Thanks for the responses and offeres for help guys. Ended up getting it to a mechanic. Turns out it was the pivot ball, however, the clutch fork did have a crack in it so that needed replacing too. I eneded up getting a replacement pivot ball, clutch fork, and while the box was out I got 3 bearings replaced, and ALSO got my tail shaft centre bearing replaced while we were going. Got this all done for $1100. Sound about right?
  16. I'd have a crack at it myself but I don't have off street parking nor any mates. Where I could do it. If rather get someone to do it for me. Any idea on cost guys?
  17. That would be it my friend. I can actually pull on it as if to pull it out so I'm going to assume it's that. Next question, does anyone know (roughly) what a mechanic would charge to fix this? I've done mechanical stuff before but nothin in the box.
  18. So, I'm sitting on the side of the M5 as I write this, dirty and drenched from getting under my car...fun... Getting to the point, I have a question. What does it mean if the paddle that the clutch slave pushes moves freely and makes a clicking sound? By freely, I mean I feel like it can move in all directions... I know it's bad but is there an exact diagnosis or can it be a few different things? Please help
  19. Thanks for input everyone, ended up getting this sorted out. Apparently according to the mate of a mate who did it he said that the Air Filter thing is BS and that most people will pass with them. You all already know that but just sharing what he said Cheers.
  20. Thanks for advice gents. HIDs will be straight forward, but as for the pod, I don't have the stock air box, nor can I be f**ked to make/get one Would someone out there have a stock airbox I could borrow for a day??
  21. My bad A-K, just need help as I'm in a jam ;(
