Got bored tonight, so attacked one of those minor things that have bugged me. Got my Glassylite headlight restore kit in the mail today so I put it to use. I really wish I did it sooner, the results are awesome. $35 and an hour of work later and they're beaut!

Bills 33 Gtst Streeter/track Car
inmaniac replied to admS15's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
I never realised that your car is essentially what I'm aspiring to LOL. Had a solid skim of this thread, nice work dude. -
Yeah mate, can't wait! I think it'll be a few months which sucks but oh well, good things to those who wait. Rad upgrade and going anal on maintenance items will keep me busy for a while As well as the wideband and other misc interior bits and bobs. The cold idle is pretty lumpy, but this is due to the not quite finished tune as Johnny just pointed out. He also hasn't had as much time with it as he probably wants. After she's warmed up it idles really nicely. Sounds a weeeeee bit lumpy as I would say, but I kinda like it haha. Idles around 800rpm with no issues.

Hi mate, welcome. Why don't you start by posting some pics of your car, some specs/mods, any plans for it, etc.

Posted in my own build thread, but relevant for this thread. I got myself a Hypergear G3 high flow on a 21U turbo. I've had pretty good results, making 230rwkw @ 14psi on 98RON. This particular dyno graph shows boost dropping at the top end, this is because (due to my own request) Tao put on a 10psi OEM wastegate, and it just wasn't up to the task. I've put on an aftermarket wastegate (pictured) and it now pulls 18psi happily all the way to redline. I installed the turbo myself and it was very straightforward. Overall stoked with the results.

Update time. The aforementioned dyno tune went awesome, however, you may notice that it was only @ 14psi. This is because, as you may tell, the boost dropped off on the high end. This was because the wastegate couldn't hold the pressure. Thus, a new one was needed! It took a little...adjustment...as you can see from the picture, it didn't exactly line up. However I eventually had it in and now I've got the car happily boosting at 18psi all the way to redline. Still only running 98RON but the timing is anything but aggressive. Feels like a different car compared to 14psi. Very happy! My ass dyno says I should be in the 240-250rwkw realm now Edit: Forgot to mention, I took the car for a 900km round trip to Tamworth NSW from Sydney, ran beautifully, and I got exactly 10L/100km - not bloody bad considering I have a heavy foot at times! Also of note is that this is without an O2 connected! A credit to @Dose Pipe Sutututu (Johnny's) tuning.

The answer you're looking for is: it's pointless. No value chucking an external gate on a stock turbo. In loose order you'd want: 1. Pump 2. ECU 3. Injectors 4. AFM 5. Turbo <- It's only at this stage you should be talking about which type of gate to go. Sounds like you're misinformed on what mods you should do. I suggest some research before going any further or making assumptions about what you need.

nsw/act Nissan Skyline R34 GT-T
inmaniac replied to Demon's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
I don't think so, looks like a nice car. Advertised elsewhere? I've seen a lot of high-powered GTT's for sale lately that might draw buyers in with easy power, or it might just be a bit of a sales bubble at the moment post-tax time. I'm sure a buyer will be around soon. GLWS mate. -
WTB: R33 LSD Diff Hey guys. Chasing a 1.5-way or 2-way LSD to suit an R33 GTST S2 (ABS) Anything good condition will be considered. Diff centre alone is fine but if it comes in a housing that's good too. NISMO, KAAZ, etc. Preferably located Sydney but will pay for shipping for a decent priced diff.

Josh's Garage Clean Out - Injectors, Turbo, ECU and More Hey guys. Reached a stage where I can finally clear out a bunch of stuff I've accumulated during my build. IT FINALLY HAPPENED! A SUCCESSFUL DYNO! Big shout out to Johnny (Dosepipe) for the tune and extra time after hours helping me with the car. Although not a perfect run (the wastegate wouldn't hold boost and would taper down to a mere 14psi) we made 230rwkw. Slightly below my goal of 250rwkw, but considering it was done on such low boost without very aggressive timing at all, I'm very happy. To be honest at this stage I'm just stoked to have a car that actually runs nice! I'm going to enjoy the car for a couple months now and just tinker with aesthetics and touch ups. Big ticket will be new wheels, but then it's just headlight polishing, new trims, etc etc. After a couple of months I'll attack the actuator and at the same time likely switch to an E85 flex tune as it wouldn't be much work to do it and get some easy power. I also fixed my LED issue (thanks Duncan, it was indeed just polarity) and dummy installed my wideband (no sensor bunged in yet) while I had the dash apart. Extremely happy with where I'm at I'll keep the updates coming as I progress.

Stock boost is 0.7bar for your car, slightly above what you've quoted. The most you should be running on your stock setup is 1bar or around 14psi, which is pretty much what you're topping out at now. In reality, no one can answer what your recommended boost is as each car is different. How well maintained is it? Do you flog it every chance you get? How many kms? There are so many variables. Play it safe, go 0.7 bar or around 10psi. Or go hard and play with fire by going to 1bar. It's really up to you. I would get go past that though. EDIT: I replied before your second post came up...

Hi mate. Yeah I had to do a bit. Because the new speakers had a larger basket and I wasn't using a spacer, the speakers are a little out of position of the originals. This meant new holes to screw the speaker into. Additionally, this also meant that I had to cut out the material from the inside of the parcel shelf as the speakers were no longer aligned with the holes. I'm sure there are cleaner methods for install but this is what worked for me. I also couldn't put the child seat restraint brackets back in, which is a big no-no, but I'm not transporting kids anytime soon and I'll inform the new owner if I ever sell it.
-
How did you go mate? As others have said, check your hoses. What I would do immediately, as someone who has just installed a Walbro pump myself, is rewire the pump. At the bare minimum, supply the pump with a new earth to the chassis. Otherwise you can go with a full relay set up, hwoever, with a stock car I don't think you need it. I'm betting on incorrect installation. When I installed my Walbro I had to angle grind the brass bit off the bottom of the cradle and get a longer length of fuel hose. for the pump to sit in the correct spot. You should confirm your friend did something similar (at bare minimum ensuring the pump is placed lower so it sits correctly).

So, I got bored tonight and decided to attack inside the car. I set about installing my china-spec headunit. It does the job for $60. I also installed new LED lights behind the dash, however, they aren't wide-angle enough and one doesn't seem to be working. Whelp, lucky for me the dash is easy to get to Also attached an image of my Rockford Fosgate speakers that I installed compared to a stock one I pulled out. Huge difference. Speakers I got are Punch P1650 6.5in Coax Lots of aesthetic stuff to do to the car but that all comes after a successful dyno xD
-
Update time. Bolt issue was sorted in this thread (and it was a b!tch): I also installed new Rockford Fosgate speakers in the back and I chucked the new R32 Nistune ECU in for a test. Car starts and runs but it's pig rich. Luckily Johnny is hooking me up with a tune in the coming days and fiiiiiinally it's dyno time on Saturday! Pray for me bros. Pray that I have no more gremlins to sort >.<

Hey mate. Could you hold on to the A/C compressor? Willing to take it off your hands if you could ship to Sydney for me? I could even arrange the courier if you could put it in a box and flick me dimensions? Cheers. -
Broken Fuel Rail Bolt - Help Me, I'm F**ked!
inmaniac replied to inmaniac's topic in General Maintenance
Hey lads. So we ended up with a solution, albeit one a little left of centre (literally!). I don't advise this as being the best solution but it seemed to work for me given the circumstances. While trying to drill out the "easy out" as previously mentioned, the drill started to really drill out some meat. I thought I was through the hardened steel of the "easy out" before I realised the bit had actually gone a little to the side and had just started chewing out the side of the aluminium bore. After a few curses, I decided that I'd actually use this to my advantage. So, given I now had a new hole, I decided to tap the bloody thing, and use that as my new bolt hole! In short, I have a tapped hole that is part aluminium on one side, and old bolt on the right haha! See pictures. It seems to work, the bolt is in there good and proper and it goes in and out very easily! The only other modification was some slight grinding to the fuel rail (ok, a bit more than slight) to match the new offset bolt hole. Still holds good and after a test drive we're all sweet! Thanks again for the advice fellas. -
I don't think it's what you're after but I have a great condition Rb25 S2 turbo available if you like? $150 + postage.

I'll have a Z32 Nistune to suit R33 soon, just waiting for my upgrade to be installed. If you still need an aftermarket ECU in around 2 weeks I can hook you up for cheap. Direct plug in, you'll only need a tune (unless you like pig-rich tunes for Z32 AFM and 740cc injectors )

What exactly happens at 2k rpm? Lots of things could be happening here. Is it only when you start building boost?
