  1. because 3.5" is more cool.. not to mention for bragging rights
  2. Looks like a crow feet with holes you can mount 2 bolts that attach to the pulley. You can borrow mine if you're in Sydney somewhere near Canley Vale
  3. I've used x-force in the past, probably about 5 years ago.. mine dislodged and rattled like a broken diesel tractor on my old R33. Previous to that I used a ceramic _us_ J__ special X-Force cat, it ended up in my exhaust system after about 18 months.. crumbled like a violet crumble lol "Perhaps" they have gotten their shit together lately. But I'm using a venom cat, looking inside it's welded onto the body and the finish is very good for a cheap cat.
  4. I can't see why not? usually discs sit completely flat with the flywheel and the other surfaces.. which has a very ON/OFF type of engagement. What the guys did was ever so slightly bend the puks on the clutch plate so there's a tiny air space when left on a surface. This means on light engagement not all of the clutch surface is used, however when the entire clamp is applied the clutch face will sit flush and provide the full clamp. Best to call/email Scott at Western Clutch in St Marys. They're really helpful and took me on a tour around their workshop showing me exactly what they did and how. That's what I call service!
  5. Look at your dyno graph and plot out where the torque peaks and beings to decay but yes you're on the right track. perhaps the range 4000 to 6400 is quite excessive, I won't tell you what exactly to do.. also keep an eye on EGTs.. don't drop timing too much
  6. Point taken on board, I actually tune my own cars and also my mate's cars. I have access to a dyno however do the bulk of my tuning on roads late at night. However in the past instead of getting constructive criticism (which I always welcome) I get responses like "good luck blowing up your motor" OR "take it to a tuner" etc.. hence the jaded and cynically response. If you compare us to forums like evolutionm.net where people openly share maps and talk about tuning, we are living under rocks.
  7. yeah would be a mad idea.. cruise/eat/drive home lol
  8. torque drops off, less cylinder pressure so you effectively can dial in more timing hence at peak torque you take off timing, as cylinder pressures are highest.. looking at that map, it's terrible.. there's more timing at peak torque than after peak torque..... feel free to PM me to chat, I don't like talking about this stuff on the public forum as people like to have stabs at me.
  9. Our age is showing Yeah BMW 323 would be a great car, just sneak a turbo on it when the missus isn't looking. Should be loads of fun! Eww don't get a bogandore! Rather a XR6T anyday of the week!
  10. Does ring a bell I was in a purple homo coloured r33 with gtr wheels and gate of course lol
  11. So what's the problem? Haha.. Don't be jelly you don't have a screamer like us cool kids lol
  12. ffffffffffffuuuarrrkkk too much spotting, how about we organise a car cruise/meet for only awesome skylines lol
  13. ^ same way every Honda driver is a cocktard? lol at the end of the day, we can rip better skids, so chin up.. I still want a C63 AMG
  14. I drove one with 220kW at the front wheels.. makes full boost at 2800 rpm... and fries 3rd with KU31 tyres at the front. They're amazing, the torque is just phenomenal !
  15. bastards, all moving to the darkside I drove a Mazda 3 MPS with just a remap, larger top mount, and a turbo back.. makes my R33 feel like a bucket of shit Drove a mates Evo 8, made me want to burn my car lol
  16. in my opinion, that's quite a lot of timing in that map on load (but could be due to the CAS being retarded) what's your EGT reading when you're on full noise?
  17. clear ya inbox already! I want to buy your front springs only lol
  18. Also depends how the pressure plate is set up. If you've ever driven a car with a NPC clutch you'll be amazed how soft and how little effort is required to press the pedal. To give you an idea, a NPC 1800 kg pressure plate will feel like you're driving a Yaris. However the way they're setup, it's also OFF and ON.. and a total bastard to drive. However, clutch specialists have a way of setting up clutch plates so they engage differently by slightly creating a void between the pressure plate & clutch disc. I recently had mine "tricked" up, and I can tell you the pedal is as light as a Yaris and also it's quite drivable and has no on and off siet.. the clamp has been reduced to 1700kg however that's more than enough for my fridge.
  19. UPDATE: Pulled off the box (well I paid a pro this time, was lazy but glad I did).. turns out my NPC clutch looked as good as it did the day I put it on. We measured the disc it was about 0.04mm worn (which is nothing), both disc & pressure plate were in top notch. Had the pressure plate tested and the clamp was actually 1870 kg.. So why was it slipping you ask? The previous owner had installed the incorrect bearing carrier so when the box was placed back onto the motor essentially the clutch was being ridden all day long ever so slightly. So whilst the box was off, Scott from Western Clutch cleaned and inspected all my parts.. turns out ALSO my clutch fork was fractured.. lucky it never broke because that wouldn't have been fun. Executive Decision Time Since everything was off & being sorted, I told Scott I had issues going into gear on the track when I was in super dooper high RPM. He mentioned that the plates Doug used were heavy and when you press the clutch pedal to change gears, the inertia of the disc keeps the box spinning and hence it crunches when you select a new gear.. I bit the bullet and changed to a lighter custom carbotic plate. At the same time, Scott modified my pressure plate, machined it and machined a step onto my fly wheel. He also replaced my bearing, bearing carrier (new), clutch fork (new) & spigot bush. By the end of it, I now have a clutch that feels as light as a Yaris clutch (I'm not kidding either) with a clamp of 1700kg and no more crunching at high rpm shifts. Sometimes it's actually worth paying a professional than doing it yourself. Cheers & big thank you to Scott, his dad & team at Western Clutch at St Mary's Now, anyone want to buy a 10" NPC Carbotic clutch disc that's nearly new? under 14 000 km old (3 track days, 1 skid day, and at the time car only had 200kW)
  20. Using a Venom 100 cell 5" inch body cat also, hasn't dislodged itself like another brand I've used before in a previous fridge.
  21. gives you an idea of how you can mount the stock shield, coincidentally the stock holes of the shield line up to the power steering reservoir bracket
