Intercooler Clamps......not The Average Sh!t
89CAL replied to N1GTR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
In all honesty I think it has alot more to do with pipework prep and the condition of your joiners. I've only blown one clamp off at 23psi when I first got the car back on the road, only because it was too loose. Since then all has been fine. I use t-bolt clamps on pressure side and worm drive on suction side. By prep I mean pipes are cleaned with wax and grease remover or similar, joiners are cleaned the same, beads on the pipe, joiners and pipes in a straight line or as straight as possible and enough joiner on each pipe. Clamp done up with enough pipe under it and to a tight enough clamping torque. I dont have a real good photo of the clamps, but you can see im not using thin ones, and I'm not having problems. I dont even have beads on some of my pipes -
Flash off, low shutter speed and then play with apature to get it right. Use a tripod if you have one. Repost from a few pages back, but this photo is taken on a tripod with these settings shutter speed - 10sec apature - 5.6 iso - 100 Edit-3155 by 89CAL, on Flickr The best way to learn manual is to just do it. Your going to take bad photos but thats the good thing about memory cards, easily deleted. The canon's are good because you can switch to on screen view and play with settings there to make the picture look O.K.

I may be swapping my nismo 740cc's for top feed soon if your interested John? Not completely sure if I'm going to do it yet, but the 740's would probably be lucky to have done 5000km at the moment. Thinking about getting EV14's just because my tuner says he would be much happier tuning with them

Most/all do as far as im aware

Yeah that is a bit of a worry. It should gravity feed with the nipple out -
R33 Gts Clutch Bleed Help
89CAL replied to S3RK's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
You don't open it before you push the pedal in. It's like your brakes, push pedal in, crack bleed nipple, re - tighten bleed nipple, lift pedal, repeat -
What Clutch To Go For On 270Rwkw R33 Gtst
89CAL replied to Michael's R33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
This. No point going some mad twin plate clutch for 270rwkw -
Makes sense, so no stopping Mercedes till next year then when I guess all the cars will adopt the same design?

Its called a tell tale. Designed to leak when the water pump is on its way out. When water leaks past the seal you will see water come out that hole

Mine had cracks appearing between the blades that's why I replaced it with a new genuine one. Has been fine

Ignore it, it means jack shit. I remember being shown that when I was being told the KAI was the new and better turbo Didn't happen at all. I'd have to find my dyno sheet. My current setup needs an exhaust restriction removed then a re tune but hopefully will be around 300rwkw, touch more with any luck

I've had minor CAS issues that didn't bring up a warning light. But in saying that I don't think there was much of an affect on the way it drove

What Are The Electronic Boxes In The Rear Of My R33?
89CAL replied to mattysaidso's topic in General Maintenance
without pics hard to say 100% but the other one is probably the HICAS/Power steering ECU -
I've had a new one for over a year and it's fine?

Im more than happy with the hypergear so far. Stao's customer service is great and he is always updating which means you can send the turbo back to be upgraded for better performance. Also when it comes time to rebuild the turbo, I dare say a hypergear would be cheaper to rebuild. The main problem with the 2835 is the price. If it was resonably priced they would be good, but I think I payed about $3500 for my HKS turbo where as the hypergear cost under $2000. Fair enough the HKS turbo comes in a kit but it's not worth the extra money as far as im concerned The big issue for me as well is customer support. As I already said, expect Zero of that if you go HKS where as at least hypergear is local and Stao is willing to discuss issues etc. Customer support probably isn't an issue with the HKS but for me when I originally ordered a pro s, and had seen so many pull around 280rwkw, to then have mine under perform that I was kinda after some answers. I was rather unlucky in my Situation as I would have been one of the first to get one of these so Nengun didn't know it would be worse then the Pro S so I couldn't really blame them for selling me what was essentially a super seeded part
-
The Pro S was a better turbo and despite all information to suggest that the KAI should be better it does not live up to they stats HKS post. I was disappointed as I originally ordered a PRO S and Nengun said it was discontinued and the KAI was better. So I eventually moved on to a hypergear turbo. Was frustrated with the lack of support from HKS who basically said the turbo wasn't making the power because of the tune or something that I'd done and after only 1 or 2 replies began to ignore my complaints The KAI is not a bad turbo, im not going to say that at all, it's pretty great for a street car. However it doesn't produce the power of the old PRO S so as above don't expect it to go to 300rwkw, even on E85 I don't think you'd quite get there. The most I've heard of is about 260rwkw on a 25 neo with poncams

Mine was a 2835KAI

Hmmm looks like there is a real issue there, exhaust/inlet restriction? Mine held 18psi near perfect with the Power FC boost controller. I did have a few problems with the bost fluctuating up and down between 15-18psi pretty rapidly but ended up sorting that out.

Not sure why. But I like it. Are any other teams running this suspension setup that might be outlawed or just Mercedes? The article didn't mention teams that will be in question

That photo confuses me. They do run a big single, its in the regulations: A Formula One car’s power unit consists of a 1.6-litre turbocharged V6 engine which operates in conjunction with an Energy Recovery System (ERS). The engine must have six cylinders in a 90-degree formation, with two inlet and two exhaust valves per cylinder and a single turbocharger. They are rev-limited to 15,000rpm, have a fuel flow limit of 100 kilograms/hour and produce around 600bhp. They must also have a single tailpipe exhaust. But seen as they have what appears to be the best engine at the moment, I wouldnt be suprised if they were putting out a display engine that isnt exactly what sits in the cars. At least it looks like its some sort of display section its in anyway.

Have to agree. Cant help but feel Lewis would have just said "come on guys, we can't have this" then had a winge after the race.

Wonder if Alonso will go back to McLaren? Who would best fill that seat......

Oh Nah I spent too much money converting to series 2 front. Need a new Reo bar but. Mine has been wrecked since day 1. Had been botched back together more then once lol

My old RB30 had the adjustment on the ECU. Also had one on the engine.
